My dad had these in black and brown. And when the souls started to wear out he'd take them to the local shoe repair aka cobbler shop and have them replaced. I remember them from the 1970's and when he passed in 2020 he still had and wore them because they were so well taken care of.
The shoemaker's craft is always a joy to watch and always brings back great memories of going with my dad and grandad as a kid to get new heels or taps on their old shoes so us kids would always have good new shoes for school... Now all those little Mom & Pop shops are gone 🥺😞 turned into 99¢ stores.... So i salute sir🫡 you and your beautiful craft
Loved my Florsheims. Had them repaired three or four times. Eventually, they became just too small. One of the best pair of shoes I've worn. Still keep them for sentimental reasons.
That's awesome. My dad got me a tailored suit and I bought floraheims with my own money what I had at the time. Best most comfortable dress shoes years later
Transforms me to a faraway/long ago world, where life was slower, meaningful, gracious. Every day coming to your shop, performing your truly amazing craft...the labor, the smells...must teleport you back to a better, more beautiful world. Then, the apron is hung, threshold is crossed and sadly, back to Reality. Your craftsmanship is truly an Art form. Love watching your work.
And there it is, the toxicity of nostalgia for a “better time”. Guess what? It doesn’t exist. If you looked back in time, for every one thing that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, there were a thousand other terrible things happening, often much worse than anything we experience today. In short, nostalgia is a dangerous thing. Live in the present, look to the future. The past is dead.
@omcorc I can understand the point you are making, if you are the type to get bogged down in wanting to live in the past and wishing to go back to the way things used to be. However, being nostalgic is not necessarily a bad thing. It not only brings a smile to your face, remembering good times, but it will also let you appreciate memorable moments that you create and experience in the present and make them even more pleasurable. We all have hardships and difficulties in our daily lives, but the things that bring us joy are what we live and strive for, so it gives us our goals to attain and the momentum to strive for them.
I keep finding him on short videos. I'm going to look at full length it's so satisfying to watch something reborn. Never thought I would ever feel that way watching a cobbler.
Me gusta observar trabajando a la gente que verdaderamente conocen su técnica y saben lo que están haciendo. Este zapatero es una persona bien talentoso. Felecidades.😊
