We are from SC and watch your videos often. We are in our 70s now and had tents, pop-up, Airstream travel trailer as well as 5th wheel before we bought a home in Franklin, NC and lived there full time for 5 years before we also bought a home back in SC to be close to our grandchildren. Watching your videos has inspired us to begin looking for a small rv again. Keep up the good work, and much love and good health to you both.Pam and Ron
Always, always enjoy your videos. Your work is worth it! You are rich in devoted followers. I just ordered my tiny trailer last weekend and your tutorials and checklists have made me confident in my future in RVing. I hope to see you two on the road sometime.
Wow, that is really impressive how you turn your garage into a classy looking office within just a few minutes by utilizing your bench seat lifts as desk top lifts. That’s pretty creative. I also love your outtakes. I enjoy all your videos for all of the technical info as well as for the humor that you guys put out. Say “hi” to Daisy for us. Lol
I can relate to tornado issues, I used to be a trucker and I’ve seen trailers connected going down the road and seeing them lifted off the pavement at 65 mph. Also my step brother had an F5 in his rear view mirror as he was trying to get away
Hi! I like your preparedness for storms. I grew up in MN had REALLY dislike tornados and storms. DO NOT apologize for having a STRONG RESPECT for them. We haven’t started RVing yet in our 397TH but when we stay in hotels I always have my purse, keys, shoes ready to go if we have to leave quickly for WHATEVER reason. Semper Paratus! Great video!
Another great option for large bikes in Toy Haulers is the B&W Biker Bar. Had two of those in my last TH to haul two Harley Davidson Ultra Classic Electra Glides and you don't even need tie-down straps (although I used to put one around the front tire just to keep the tire/handlebars facing forward).
Didn't realize they didn't have one. The only difference in design is where the bar clamps onto the bike frame so I'm surprised they don't have an Indian bar already. Perhaps the frame is not visible/accessible on the Indian or the frame design doesn't allow it? May want to email them and see if the "Touring" bar would fit.
My goodness, my wife and I are getting closer to retirement and your videos and explanation are so helpful. Just love the truth and reality of RV’n I’m sure many people are in our position and it’s a scary move wether will be snow birding or full time. The best part is, we have “Time” Also thanks to - enjoy the life adventures and loloho. Lastly love the Indian!
Great info and lots of fun. We also bring our puppy (golden doodle )when we camp. It makes the entire process a lot more fun. Most campgrounds welcome pets. And if they don’t I don’t want to go there. Thanks for sharing. Kudos to Daisy.
Referring to your RV wash segment, I washed my Raptor.... Um it came clean or so I thought, as it dried it left spots, apparently we have crappy water, it looked horrendous. So we( my wife and I) watched your RV wash video, and are now Areo Cosmetic customers. In the meantime, we improvised, wrapped a old towel around a extended broom sprayed it down with water, it worked in a pinch. Much happier with the new product tho, thanx for all you do
First off, thank you for your service! YES, meds are very important, and access to them as well. I am retired military and have tri-care for life that does a really great job of keeping me supplied with meds through Express scripts. All scripts come as a 90 day supply. as long as there is a generic version of the drug, I pay $10.00 for a 90 day supply. Unfortunately, not all of my drugs are available as a generic, and I pay essentially $10.00 for 30 days supply but get them in 90 day supply. The only problem I have encountered so far is when they change suppliers, and the pills look different from what I am used to, so I verify that it is indeed the correct medication using a trusted online site. Our meds are delivered with our snail mail, so I am quick to go down and get the mail because although it IS a federal offense for anyone other than the mail carrier and us to open the mailbox, it is just sitting along the side of the public road. It is not at all uncommon for mail to be stolen from rural; mailboxes.
Another great video guys. Tara, your editing and sound skills are much appreciated. We have all come accustom to your level of skill. I am excited to announce that we will be getting a Grand Design next year! You guys really had the type of information I was looking for beyond dealer videos. We pull a boat behind our coach, so length was a priority. Hope to see you guys on the highways sometime. I drive a semi all over the U.S. and Canada.
Thank you for sharing! We are also HH members and just love it. Paid for itself in a few nights. Passport America is very limited in the days you can camp (especially at those "nicer" spots.) We only signed up for Good Sams because of the diesel fuel discount when you sign up for their Pilot/Flying J RV Plus Card (8 cents off per gal) and you get 50% off of dump fees, along with other perks. (You can't get the RV Plus Card without a Good Sams membership.)
Don’t laugh to hard, but just learned how to add comments to videos... Anyway I love your videos. They have very informative and are helping me put a list of things I will need to do once I purchase my toyhauler. In process of selling house and can’t wait to start full time RVing. Again I really appreciate all the effort you both have done in your video series
Dang ...... "Moving day" is a serious PIA for you guys !!!! Soooo much to do (to get it RIGHT...) But, I guess the right "prep"for moving your HOUSE, is well worth it !!! (Peace of mind, kind of thing....huh ..?) GREAT vid :) :) And a BIG "HI" to Daisy :) :) :)
A family member of mine is a longtime FTer. She told me that they keep a "storm bag" packed and ready at all times (flashlight, bottled water, important documents, etc). When something comes up, you throw in anything else you want to grab that doesn't live in the bag (wallet, etc). My bf calls it a "bug out bag". Either way, I thought the idea was pretty smart.
Enjoyed the video guys. Great job. Funny outtakes. Thanks for showing how you load up Lucille. I am looking forward to trying out our Wheel Dock for the first time in our new Outback. Safe travels.
One of the topics that needs to be covered is if the husband is injured, sick or incapacitated can the wife pack the rv up and hook it to the truck and drive it. I am facing it now in az where I hurt my back and neck and am basically bed ridden with pain. It needs to be covered that the wife knows how to everything we know and where everything goes and how to disconnect everything and stow the hoses , water lines and such. Thanks
Agreed. However, our situation is different. With Tara's illness (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Wnn8mONYx5g.html ), she cannot drive or do a lot of the physical things. If I became seriously incapacitated for any length of time, we would need to extend to a longer term stay, or hire someone to store the RV and stay with family... Sorry to hear about your back! Hope you get well soon!
really starting to be interested in such a life.... having moved twice .. both over 1000 miles... and downsizing from 2400 to 1800 to now 1300 sq feet... where i do not even use the second floor of this townhome (so really live in 600ish).... and drive to want to see more of the US kind of makes this a workable desire.... just the work part being tied to a single location... is the limit for now... mrgh.
Great review for on the road items. A set of tools or a well stocked tool box also helps much. Typically, smaller breed dogs tend to be more timid and nervous balls of fire. They also tend to be more aggressive in personality. Those Chihuahua breeds are the most difficult when it comes to being friendly neighbors due to their barking forever traits. Lots of small breeds will pee their pants often after only being left alone for a few minutes and again when you come home etc. Not sure about them habits while the larger breeds are bigger, eat more and doo more, they tend to be better on the obedience side of "cruise control". Not complaining about them smaller breeds, just that after having them for years, wondered why we didn't switch to larger breeds long ago.
Not sure if it's just her breed.. but she only barks when someone knocks on the door... not agressive ever. Doesn't shed. Doesn't pee inside. She's a great full time rv dog for sure! 🐶 😎
@@ChangingLanes Yes, noticed she isn't a barker. Hate to say it but, dogs that bark too much are usually because of their owners lack of respect of the dogs well being and concern for obedience which usually makes them less stressed out. Some owners could take lessons from their pets.
That's a really good question. I guess if someone gave us a Prevost, we might try it on for a bit. LOL The big problem with a Class A for us, is we would really miss having a separate office.
@@ChangingLanes What about a class A with a trailer, enough room for the bike and a dedicated office space? I'm just somewhat dreaming and trying to decide what I'd do if I had the $. Keep up the great work by the way, I love the video's!
The trouble with Class A and trailer is the trailer would need to hold the bike and a daily driver. and would be large. Which means large pull-thrus only or a place to store the trailer at every stop. Not a great scenario. Doable, but not something we would want to deal with.... Hope that makes sense... 👍🏼 😊
I lived in an RV toy hauler bumper pull for 6 years in 4 different states the only problem I ever had was finding a semi permanent site but they are there. now I am entertaining the full ride with a 45" renegade and some sort of trailer so I will need a pull through I know they are out there but on the road I believe I will have to use WM parking lots for the overnights
1:00 I had Lyme disease too and am suffering from post-Lyme issues daily too. I was on that many drugs as well, if not more, I replaced them all, except one, with medical cannabis, it not only works, it works better.
Really enjoy your videos! In your last Q&A video, you referred to a trip planning GPS video. But I couldn't locate it, could you send link? Have watched your backing a 5th wheel video more than once, good information! I wish the roads in campgrounds were as wide as the Wally parking lot, lol. Take care
Thank you for this video, like Tara I also have a few health issues, so all my days are not great, most are but I have that one or two where it's tough to get out of bed or just get dressed. I have been debating on not going full time because of that and my husband has been telling me I will do great and he doesn't care if I have to stay in trailer more some days than others, he thinks I will be happier when we are full timing (don't tell him he is right ) lol . I hope one day we meet when we go full time, I look forward to it, have been watching your videos for quite some time. You guys are great.
Yeah, your loading of Lucille has ordinarily always been smoother in your other videos but you had two things working against you in this one. Loose gravel/dirt AND an unlevel field that resulted in a larger gap to get over at the lip of the leading edge of the door. You did great; as you said, you just gotta know how to ride your bike. I'm glad you did this video, however. There are two things I didn't consider, one of which I knew but still came as a surprise when you pointed it out. (It didn't occur to me that during part of the transition my feet would be out of reach of the ground or door. I'm glad to be reminded of that here in the video rather than halfway onto the ramp the first time on the road! I already had that "oh shit" moment many years ago as a teenager --- but the bike THEN was just a 1978 Kawasaki KE 100, which is a helluva lot lighter than a full size Indian today. LOL!) The other moment was when you mentioned lowering the back of the trailer and raising the nose. I was all like, "Oh! That makes PERFECT sense!" I'm really glad that you two talked about doctors and prescriptions, as well!!! (That's been a HUGE concern for me.) I love the idea of getting 90-day prescriptions filled but sadly, I don't think that's possible with the most pressing of meds I have to take, that I can't miss a single dosage of. Still working on that issue. It's been one of the most aggravating I've had to consider thus far and in a country that's "supposedly" so far ahead of so many others (that's the claim, not my impression). Don't get me wrong. I love my country but I'm oft reminded that we, as a country, cater more to the rights of the big business rather than focus on the needs of the little guy. Seldom are things easier for the average run of the mill citizen who's left jumping through hoops just to get by, especially when it comes to health coverage. Ugh. GREAT VIDEO! Safe travels, y'all! P.S. You better hope Daisy didn't understand that you called her an asshole. HAHAHAHA. My baby (Cassie, may she rest in peace) always got even with me if she felt offended. (And trust me, her "offense" wasn't always justified! LOL) Once she "got even" with me by leaving a "doggie GIFT pile" on MY pillow in the bed. Oh, everyone else thought it was hilarious. I didn't. Especially since she was giving me a look that TOLD ME it was most definitely an act of active "retaliation." She was smart but oh my, how she could get creative when pissed off. You better hope Daisy isn't reading these comments. ROFL!!!!!!
Love what you did with the conversion from bench seats to desks, this was genius! Curious if there is enough spacing that you could stand while working?
Love your channel! My wife and I are selling our house and just put a deposit on our Grand Design 397TH! We also ride an Indian! Hope to see you guys on the road someday!
What do you do about bad water? On you break down and set up I did not see you put on a water filter, do you have one in the rig? If not do you have a way that you clean them after or before you use water at the next place. Thanks for all your great tips. Bob
😊 Our RV has a filter built into the wet bay, so everything gets filtered. It's not perfect, but it's better than nothing. We use this for our drinking water: amzn.to/2YSbltl Might install something more permanent at some point...
I was wondering if y’all mounted your wheel dock in the trailer or not. I ride a 2019 CVO and currently do not use a wheel dock in my Carbon 403. I have a Condor wheel Chagall in an enclosed trailer that I was debating on taking out and using in my RV. Thanks fir any info. Also if y’all get back around toward Franklin NC again me and the wife would love to ride with y’all. We have several great rides in the area. Thanks again.
Im surprised there aren't ramp extension on these toy haulers. We load/unload big zero turn mowers in and out of our enclosed trailer and its a big bump without the extension. Have you guys ever been in a situation where you needed to go to a shelter during a storm? We've been there once (a tornado warned storm) but it blew right over us.
Love the weather radios and your tips on preparedness, and I enjoyed other videos you did about safety. I wish you'd wear more gear when riding! ATGATT Road rash is no joke, and half helmets won't protect your faces. Thank you for sharing all you do.
I do full gear whenever I'll be at freeway speeds, but for low-speed around-town stuff just use a 3/4, no overpants, and often regular work boots instead of MC boots. It's all about risk assessment and acceptance. I used to ride a bicycle a lot, and the only gear then was a less-than-half helmet and gloves that protect the palms a little. Some of that involved speeds over 50mph, and a lot of it was speeds over 30mph, both on trails and roads. I cringe a little to see half helmets or no helmets at high speeds, but that just means the riders have a different level of risk acceptance than I do. As long as nobody tries to force it, fine by me.
I have really enjoy the information you provide in your videos. I am looking into 5 wheel or bumper pull travel trailers . I'm a novice. I also will probably traveling on my own. What would be some of the challenges for me in doing this.
The biggest thing will be a spotter when backing into a site... Doable by ones self by getting out often.. But get a set of radios and give one to one of the many friendly people in the campground to help spot. RVers are a friendly bunch. 👍🏼
Our sales guy (Stan) is no longer with LazyDays. The only thing that came with our RV was the power cable. We have a Day-1 section in our Amazon store that might help... changinglanesrv.com/amazon
I love the information you share I would like to know a few things How long can you stay in one place Where are they and the cost each week also when planning how long in advance do you book the next place Is the west coast or east coast more expensive to stay With the size of your RV is it hard to find places that you can park I hope you will answer these questions I have thought about buying a RV
Most excellent advice! Did you have Daisy before RV life, if so, was it hard to transition her? Any tips for future RV dogs? Thank you so very much for your easy to understand descriptions and all you do! Godspeed and Hugs from Leavenworth, Ks!
Yes... We had her for a few years in the house. She transitioned very well. Future RV dog advice.. No shedding, hypoallergenic, and one that doesn't bark all day while you're away LOL. 🐶 😊
