[Full version] There were six Marys? This is a story I've never heard before! Check out the touching moments hidden in the Bible now! - Bible Word Hymn Representative Prayer
Hello!
This time, let's talk about the six Marys.
There are six Marys with the same name in the Bible.
They each had different backgrounds and lives and played important roles in the life and ministry of Jesus.
All six Marys met Jesus and their lives were completely changed, and their devotion remains an example of faith to this day.
However, there are many hidden behind-the-scenes stories in their stories.
The First Mary: Mary, the Mother of Jesus
Mary, the mother of Jesus, is the starting point of the salvation of mankind, conceiving Jesus through the Holy Spirit.
The Bible records that she heard the news from the angel Gabriel, "You will give birth to the Son of God," and accepted it with obedience.
However, according to church tradition, Mary's parents, Joachim and Anna, raised Mary in a very pious family.
She was devoted to God from her childhood and lived a very devout life.
Mary also played an important role in the early church, spreading the gospel of Jesus with her disciples after the Ascension of Jesus.
Mary was more than just a 'mother'; she witnessed all of Jesus' life, from his birth to his ministry, death, and resurrection, and played an important role at every moment.
The tradition of the Church believes that Mary later ascended into heaven, which developed into the doctrine of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
The Second Mary: Mary Magdalene
According to the Bible, Mary Magdalene was possessed by seven demons and suffered until she was healed by Jesus, becoming one of his most faithful disciples.
She witnessed the crucifixion of Jesus and was the first person to witness his resurrection.
The Bible does not go into detail about her past, but some Christian traditions have often misunderstood Mary Magdalene as a sinner or a prostitute.
However, modern scholars see her as simply a disciple of Jesus who played an important role.
Mary Magdalene was the first witness to the resurrected Jesus and the first to tell the disciples about it.
She was freed from her past suffering and given new life through Jesus, and her life itself remains a powerful example of the miracle of the gospel.
The Third Mary: Mary of Bethany
Mary of Bethany was the sister of Lazarus and Martha, and had a special relationship with Jesus.
When Jesus visited Bethany, Mary sat at Jesus’ feet and listened to his teachings.
This was a very unconventional behavior for a woman in Jewish society.
Mary also experienced Jesus’ miracles firsthand through the death of Lazarus.
When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, Mary experienced Jesus’ power once again in her despair.
Later, Mary showed shocking devotion by pouring expensive perfume on Jesus’ feet and wiping them with her hair.
This act was beyond the social conventions of the time, but Jesus praised it.
The Fourth Mary: Mary, the Wife of Clophas
Mary, the wife of Clophas, was a faithful disciple who witnessed the crucifixion of Jesus.
The Bible does not give us much detail about her role, but some church traditions suggest that Clophas may have been the brother of Joseph, the husband of Jesus’ mother Mary.
Therefore, Mary, the wife of Clophas, may have been a member of Jesus’ family, and her presence at the cross was not merely a witness, but must have had a profound emotional impact.
Her faithful devotion is an amazing example of faith that did not lose faith even while witnessing Jesus’ death.
These six Marys came from different backgrounds and lived different lives, but their lives were transformed by their encounter with Jesus.
Their devotion and faith played a major role in the history of salvation, and their stories still teach us profound lessons today.
Representative Prayer
God of Love
Like the Marys in the Bible, may we also obey Your call.
Just as they found new purpose in life by meeting Jesus,
may we also be transformed by Your grace.
Let us bear witness to the Lord's resurrection like Mary Magdalene,
and let us meditate deeply on the Lord's words like Mary of Bethany.
May the Lord's love and grace guide us,
and let us live as those who spread that love to the world.
I pray in the name of Jesus.
Amen.
