@5084204
@5084204 26 дней назад
Well, the filling loop is for filling, not really for draining the system. Please check these toolstation units: 35419 - if you fit it the other way round (check valve on the filling line) and you remove the braided flexi (as we all should and do, lol)..you would get very wet. Sure, you could add an extra valve just before it, but that's extra work. You could buy 83963 - but it's £5 more expensive - so I would have to spend my money for your convenience of draining the system via filling loop. :-)

Quick question to the best plumber on RU-vid! If I took an olive off a 22 mm pipe where a previous compression fitting was cleaned it up and pressed over it would it be ok??? (ie an indentation in pipe where olive was would be present). What do you think?

That seems like a huge amount of progress for one day. Did you get the screws on the trap mixed up? It looked like the countersunk long ones were designed to go in the vinyl trap ring, and the pan heads hold the trap to the tray.
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom 28 дней назад
I don't think I got them wrong, the vinyl ones on the top are threaded, more like a bolt, and the others are more of a standard screw, I could be wrong though, I will find out when the floor layers ring me, thanks for the support as always John
@JohnWatkinsUK
@JohnWatkinsUK 28 дней назад
@@PlumbLikeTom I think you were right. I (rather sadly 🤣) just looked up and read the datasheet for the SLW2VG/H trap. It shows M5x12 panheads for the top vinyl clamp and M4x40 for the lower drain fixing, though they are panheads too. Maybe they supplied a wrong screw pack as the countersunk screws look like they are from something like a Wirquin SLIM+ to hold down the stainless fixing plate. I'm sure it doesn't matter one bit, it just stood out to me.

Top job as always Tom, you flew through that. Quick Q - how comes you can't leave those iso valves on CH pipework? I don't put them on but see lots of it all the time, always wondered
@56ty78ui
@56ty78ui 29 дней назад
Do you mean to the towel rail? Usually used as a temp shut off on 1st fix. If you haven't got compression or plastic stop ends. If they were left and as you say, you've seen lots, will restrict the flow amongst all the other restrictions that come after, ie rad valves, pipework, etc. Helps with 2nd fix when soldering mainly and purging the air out. Not a problem really, just look shite on pipework.
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom 28 дней назад
Isolation valves shouldn't be left on heating pipes as they restrict the flow and aren't temperature rated, full bore levers are suitable though but the ones I've used here are just temporary to aid me draining down on my second fix
