My watch will not open my trunk when I say “hey siri open trunk.” It says “you’ll need an app for that…” but it does unlock the tesla when I use the watch app.

BUT... In order to actually drive the car you need to take the watch off of your left hand, hold it to the center cupholder area (then unlock the watch again as it will have locked when it was removed), hit the brakes to "start" the car and then put the watch back onto your left hand? Is that correct?

No, it works like your phone key. Keep your watch on your wrist and no need to hold the watch to the center of the cupholder (like you would do with a keycard).

Yes, the watch will not be a proximity key if you do not turn on the proximity key setting in the watch itself. Even if you do turn it on, you have to be in the car with a Tesla key card on the center console, when you turn on the watch proximity key. Then on your Tesla navigation screen you will get a message that says something like, "would you like to allow this device to be a key" and you have to click the confirm button on the Tesla Navigation Screen, to make the watch a proximity key. Then I got an email from Tesla, warning me that another device had been authorized as a key. Otherwise the Watch will only control the car if you open the "Watch for Tesla" app. And then it takes about 3 to 4 seconds for the controls on the Watch for Tesla app to start interacting with the car. I was confused at first because on the iPhone, when you open the "Watch for Tesla" app, it has a slide button that says make this device a proximity key. I thought they were talking about my Apple Watch, instead they are talking about the iPhone itself. Which to me is kind of silly, because anyone with a Tesla already has the Tesla App and it already has a proximity key built into the Tesla app that works amazingly well. I don't really understand why they would duplicate this in the "Watch for Tesla" App on the iPhone? It does not make sense to me. It took me watching this video to really figure out that I had to have the watch in the car with my Tesla key card, to go into the watch, select the "watch for Tesla" app on my watch, then slide the button over where it says make this device a proximity key, and then the watch itself can become a proximity key.

I keep pointing this out and people seem unaware of how much they give and what can be done with the credentials... I believe people should really be educated about the dangers of giving the credentials for an electric car. It's very dangerous!!!

Tessie app does all that for free except being a car key. So the question I have to answer is that one function with the fee. It’s tricky - it would be nice.
