When I saw that Fury fly into the hangar & compared to the bigger ships I just imagined a massive armada of Fury's lined up in that hangar. Someday I would love to see 50 Fury's just pouring out the back of the Idris, or any of the smaller ships swarming out that hangar really. 😁
The Idris easily fits 32 Arrows. With Tetris probably 50 or more. So Furies it will be able to carry at least 100 if not many more; especially if you can put them in your cargo hold updeck :) Anyways, CIG once showed a video with a ton of furies leaving the Idris :)
Angels Fall First (2015) did it, even battlefront from 2005 technically if you want to count that haha. Looking great, but hope they can make some drastic performance imrpovements and working AI, smarter AI would be great.
this is the first time I've seen a SC space battle that felt "naval" and had the speed and rhythm of a ship battle at sea. I'm sure a ton of balancing will eventually make everything feel "heavier" and really cement that feeling. This video was great and really illustrates how AI under utilize the Idris.
haha yeah doing this made we kind of want an Idris of my own :D it really is a world apart from even something like the Carrack or Hammerhead and like you i think the future space battles with capital ships and all of their supporting fighters will be someithng truly spectacular
This is not what star citizen will be about you'll need to play EVE if you want to do that. Chris Roberts has already addressed EVE fans and told them EVE style battles will not be possible, maybe 1 vs 3 max 20 vs 20 but not what many are expecting. Server Meshing is designed for 4 on 4 counter interactions in lost space _(which is still good)_ EVE is the place you go for organized space game battles i'm suspecting many will be upset with Star Citizens server meshing expectations once released. Server meshing is not limitless, this is not it's purpose.
@@stash. Take the baby steps first. Look too far forward, and one might trip up on something right next to him. Deal with the problems in testing, then scale up further, likely to coincide with probable future breakthroughs in hardware and software.
Its really cool and kinda unexpected/expected that even monstrous ships like the Idris (especially them perhaps) always have to be worried about sneaky boarders anytime you stop moving. It adds a good counter to their power, organically without having to nerf the ship itself. I still believe that the Idris will come in the same patch as the Polaris though. They complement each other. The "glass" cannon Polaris can hunt the Idris, and the Idris can hunt, everything else. The idris without the Polaris in the same update, kind of might end up just being too dominating. Which it is SUPPOSED to be, but you know tons of people would run to Spectrum complaining, and CIG being so reactive, they would nerf the Idris uneccessarily hard. Thats why i really think the Polaris gotta come as a pair with the Idris. Then you cant really say the Idris needs a nerf, if its anti-capital nemesis is in space waiting for a target. Well, until idris owners run to spectrum and complain, so the Polaris torps become useless and travel at 120m/s. Just like the Eclipse / Tali torps got rendered useless. Sometimes i wish CIG would actually listen LESS to the vocal community...
Yeah the Merchantman is definitely cool, not my specific cup of tea but will be an impressive ship when it finally gets released no doubt! and a Gatac Capital ship would be awesome going off of the designs of their current ships :)
even possible vanduul as a race but have it have a collar like tracker if betray the UEE or somthing collar explodes lore wise Or one that attempted to explode self in ship but survives but now killing self lore wise would be dishonor so they are or would be sent on suicide like missions like the arbitor in halo
The Idris really is the ultimate multicrew ship. A beautfiul bridge with a great view, lots of turrets and the most important thing: A big hangar where the dogfight enthusiasts of the crew can head into battle from.
Wow that was an epic battle.... by July 4th I will be able to buy my first ship.... I am new to the Verse... I am excited and I can't wait to get Star Citizen. I love the video.... GG.
First off , Welcome to the Verse! Second , take it slow , big changes coming with 4.0 right around the corner. You've joined at a great time in the developement. But beware , there will be bugs & developement delays as well. But this game will hook you in like no other. Try to join an org or two. Playing with other players makes this game really shine. Fly safe Citizen , o7.
Not to be a downer, but if you say ''I'll be able to buy my 1st ship'', I hope you have a beast of a pc, I had to rebuild a bran new one with the GTX 4080 for this game to run without lag... It is NOT a game for average pc, just so you know. It needs lots of RAM, above average Graphic card with good video memory (I have 16GB).
At least we surely now know it fits the hangar at ports, and that it does needs a military budget to operate it. If the hangar can fit the vulture it would make its operational costs for it self with scraping after battles.
I got to board the Idris with working AI, was such a wild experience having them move and shoot through the decks at me and two others, was the only time I've seen the AI work. I hope that CIG get that to be a constant one in the future, as its a needed experience for sure.
Damn that boarding in the middle of the space battle really makes me look forward to when we have proper server meshing and large org battles in the future it will be so sick
This video has reignited my spark for Star Citizen. I just love the different scales of conflict going on - a boarding battle inside a larger fleet battle! It's like Return of the Jedi which so much going on.
I could imagine when the Jav finally gets added to the game, the fleet battles will be immense with hammerheads and idrises being run as escort. Great work locking down the Idris!
The amount of bodies left throughout the behemoths' hallways like loose lego blocks in the wake of mayhem, was *more* than enough o hold me over until the Deadpool x Wolverine movie drops. Production value & camera-work was at Spielberg levels; TOP MARKS!
As you get caught up in the beautiful cinematography, it's so easy to forget that this is all recorded ingame with Kate manipulating the 3rd person view, especially during the Idris-Indris fights. And man the angle the fury captured those railgun shots was amazing
Awesome to see. I had a similar experience with my org! Pro tip: you can repair on any station just park the idris on a pad. No gear down, and offset 90 degrees from the pad. As long as the heart of the idris is on the heart of the pad. Sometimes the copilot or gunners have to repair (pilot gets no prompt in mobi sometimes).. That'll save you 30 minutes to arccorp next time.
Some friends and I recently found an NPC Idris near Daymar. Found in atmosphere, the Idris is really weak against a MOAB out of an A2 Herc. One good hit for a soft death and let the salvage party begin.
When we finally get legitimate capital ships and carriers in our hangars, groups and orgs are going to completely change the landscape of bounties and PvP battles. Not to mention giving The starfarer and salvage ships another job of fueling and repairing the ship outside of dock. This is beyond exciting.
Not to mention the yet-to-release Aegis Vulcan and the Anvil Crucible. I really want to see them actually effect temporary battlefield repairs on a damaged Idris. The Anvil Crucible can also park nearby and repair another fighter outside the Idris too. If the Vanguard can fit inside the Idris' Hangar, the Vulcan could also take the middle hangar spot and act as extra tools and assistance for the flight deck crew to quickly repair a large amount of fighters flying in and out of the Idris' hangar.
The boarding was amazing ... But tracking the ship down in quantum gave the battle so much more depth and storyline. Technologically and lore wise. Great blend of game loops there.
I know you definitely get this all the time but your SC videos are seriously unmatched. The soundtracks you pick, your editing, it all feels really hands on and It's always a real pleasure to watch your multicrew gameplay. Thank you once again for a knockout SC video!
thank you very much for your kind words tinoschultz :) also congratulations you are the winner of our game package giveaway! if you could either contact me on Discord (our server link is in the description of the video) or drop an email to citizen_kate@yahoo.com i can arrange the delivery of your prize! and again congratulations :)
Hey there Kate, Awesome video! I wanted to pass along a tip I learned recently when looting one's own dead body to reclaim gear for you or others who may read this comment: When looting your previously deceased body with the new Loot UI menu (where it shows your gear on the lower portion of the screen and oncoming potential gear at the top), we can hit the gold arrow at the top right of the screen to go back to the old looting menu. Once here, if you click and drag your old undersuit onto your character, it should re-equip everything instantly (bugs notwithstanding). Hope this helps! o7
Great video. I was lucky enough to board the Idris with some friends and friendly players over the weekend. Was SO cool and something I've wanted to in SC for ages! I had a lot of fun exploring it. We then flew around for a while, until it despawned.
The absolute absurd size of this ship is something to see that's for sure, and seeing the recent capital ship combat video another Star Citizen youtuber released really shows the potential that this section of the game has. As usual I love the content and would absolutely like to see more stuff like this in the future if possible.
Loved xenothreat so much this year. Shame that the servers weren't up to scratch but actually boarding an idris and taking it over this time was amazing. Did some ERTs in it afterwards with some friends and it was so much fun xD
I m so happy to see an Idris fully crewed, if you managed to get your hands on an other it would be great to see you and your crew managing the hangar with fighters, medical ship and maybe drop ship. And use all of that to do other missions in the verse
I am looking forward to the massive capital ship combat. When first looking at these capital ships almost a year ago, I joked saying it would be like a lag bus dropping out of QT into a system, but seeing how it worked here it is impressive and I am excited for it.
This was awesome to watch. I havent been on an Idris yet, and this look at it being crewd by players is looking like an amazing experience. I can already imagine an Idris coming out of Quantum Space, the front bay doors open and a 40-50 furys come flying out of there, like swarms leaving the hive to attack the threat. would be cool to see live in the verse one day!!!!
The video sums up and showcases the potential SC has, especially in that multi-crew aspect. Let's hope and prey that CIG is able to get server meshing working and reduce the desync issues and improve server stability and performance as the boarding itself showed that most of the NPCs just standing there and almost not reacting doesn't feel good.
I've gotta admit I don't watch too many of your videos, but when I do I'm always blewn away by the quality of the video and the progress Star Citizen made.
My friend and I live streamed taking an Idris last night. Brought it to the next XT event and destroyed the enemy Idris. That front railgun hits like a truck
nice, definitely looked like fun, but for me, its more fun to watch others with a large multi-crew ship. i kinda hope they will patch out that clipping gun through the turret glass gets fixed, and they have some other way to empty the turret seats.
Very nice to see the Idris in Action! I have not yet tried Xenothreat, I'm waiting for the server tech to enable such combat without the game breaking down...
I love how active boarding is, even with how buggy the enemy AI can be it's a risk around every corner. The camera angles for the true Capital Ship fight was something else, though. I really wish I could play this event but oh well you gotta have vacations lol.
I know it's hard to trust people but as someone who finally pledged after so many free fly events it's nice to see you at least tried to be friendly. Been killed a lot just minding my own business but it's refreshing stumbling across someone decent. Came across 2 guys while hauling the other day had a nice chat.
Wonderful video! I really love the music you use as well! You can definitely see why CiG has not released this ship to the backers yet. It is a monster!
Thanks! Probably not gonna crew an idirs myself anytime soon as a mostly solo player so really really fun to watch the gameplay. And also really hoping SM comes soon and solves a lot of the performance problems we see with events. o7
Awesome video, capturing that Idris must had been very exhilarating. I wish the Idris is soon in the game, as some of my org friends have two to pilot. It will begreat to be on the sending end of that gigantic rail gun
well, my experience from event was more like: >enter fight >soft death >hop out >use scourge to take down enemies >Be thrown into deep space by your own forces
To be fair, nobody should be surprised that the Idris is better than the HH for big ship combat. Conversely, the Idris cannot compete when you need to take out escorts fighters so we will now see the HH doing what it is designed for, and doing it well.
Well done, we haven't had much luck in boarding yet. Last attempt someone quantum'ed it above A18 and took it into the armistice zone while the crew was alive before then getting shot by the npc's while in the pilot chair. So no one could fly it out of armistice cause of the npcs that we couldn't kill cause armistice... yay :P
I tried to board the idris multiple times during the event but with no success. It's cool to see that you can actually do it and capture the ship. It makes you wonder how many groups of players will run stolen massive ships one full persistence is in and we can keep al the ships that we find "unsupervised"
Watching the ships in the hangar really made me curious why they don't have tractor beams setup to pull ships in or move broken ones around. Unless the max lift is good enough for that, you'd think a carrier deck would be ready to deal with that. Maybe when the ship is ready for us. Still cool the little things you can do with it now.
My org managed to do a player Idris vs Xeno Idris combat the other night. Put a Medical Pisces in it and you can fly about until the server goes down or you run out of money to refuel it.
As someone in an Org that has managed to pull off getting an Idris a few times in this event. I'm glad that a lot of people are enjoying the capital ship combat. I just wonder how engineering will improve capital ship combat. Also I look forward to seeing waves of Snubs flying out of an Idris as it would be a hybrid of a protos carrier and a terrian Hyperion. That railgun is so much fun and i like how it shakes tje ship when it fires. For all the people who hate on Star Citizen... Name one other game that can pull off everything star citizen is doing without load screens.
If this wasn't so buggy and the AI were on point this battle would have been madness. I think taking the medbay first might be a good idea in that situation. Great content Kate as always.
