Probably the second option. If he really thinks you're Velstadt in person he must be pretty stupid... Edit: Either that or maybe the mere sight of Velstadt's pretty unique helm is enough to get him fuming... He seems to be pretty damn angry when you fight him anyway. That makes me think, how Raime's mental state is at that point. Is he crazy? Maybe there's not too much human reasoning left to him and the sight of the helm of his old friend who humiliated him triggered a very strong emotion (most likely anger) and his imediate response is to try to crush you with everything he has. Pretty interesting stuff, really. That would also serve as an explanation as to why he thinks you're Velstadt (if he does of course) So maybe he's not stupid, just insane.

True, some modders have implemented elements like this in their mods. Like Daughter of Ash got fight against Manus, where, if certain steps were made, you can have Sif and Artorias be fighting on your side, which is pretty cool.

MBA2804 It's because Raime only became this powerful and gained fire/dark abilities AFTER being banished. Before that he used the Rebel's Greatshield (which is why it's called that and has a crow on it - his favourite bird) and was probably a normal-ish knight. He was nowhere near as strong back then as he is now. The final version of Raime would kick Velstadt's ass.

He probably thinks that you are Velstadt

It's more likely that he is pissed that you killed Velstadt, even with their differences of opinion and the banishment of Raime, they were fighting for the same cause through different measures. Raime was bested by Velstadt in combat, and here comes someone that bested his rival. It's only natural that he would go all out immediately as a response as he won't take you lightly and repeat the same mistake that he made with Velstadt.

He thinks you are velstadt. Velstadt and raime disagreed on the intentions of nashandra and velstadt took vendricks side and fought him to exile him and to have the kings back, its being betrayed by your blood

Some people think it's easier to beat him like that since his second phase is (for some) easier to dodge.

@@CidGuerreiro1234 He is kind of easier in phase 2. His slow 24O degree sweep you can just evade by rolling under the sword handle, literally all you have to do is not panic, because unlike other delayed moves, it doesn`t get faster mid-swing, it`s just a slow circular animation, you can even run away in the opposite direction and the recovery time allows for an Estus or two hits. And his lunging thrust can`t even hit you if you roll straight towards it. Then he has two 3-hit movesets which are about as difficult as dodging an Old Knight with a hammer. The only move that troubled me was his AoE orb strike, because it`s very sudden and starts with a blast radius doing tons of damage.

I actually find his second phase much easier to deal with than the first one.

If you have around 100 agility, I don't think his second phase is anything too rough The only thing to watch out for is that you may get hit by the end of his long sweep if you aren't careful

He wasn't even a traitor to Vendrick since he was speaking the truth (that Nashandra had malicious intentions).

This happens when you fight him wearing Velstadt's helmet (you don't need to rest of the armor set), he jumps straight to his second phase. Normally he would only do this at 50-60% health.

Well actually I heard that if you equip onyx blade to the Friede boss fight she will instantly anter full-on fight mode. Instead of slowly walking towards you like she normally would.

@@adradox Th-th-they are and you know it. The Old Iron King DLC was polished for most part, but throughout the game, the hitboxes are awful.

It depends, his hitboxes in second phase may be tricky for some players.

I never had problems with this boss, maybe its because i always play as velstadt. The ivory king on the other hand is a son of a bitch.

@@adradox Respect. As well somehow its fairly easy, its' mainly 1 swing after 4 dodges. Plus 4 hits at the start of the fight cause he will freak out at times thinking its phase 1 till he sees me

For some people it is. I just think the overall transition to P2 allows you to dish out a lot of damage when it happens.

It's very high level character, so build did not actually matter much at this point. But usually for this sort of lategame getup you should have at least 40 vigor, around 30 vitality, 40 endurance, 40 str/dex, 30 fai and 30 int. Rest does not really matter that much.

Hundreds of years have passed, so... Plus from pure gameplay standpoint it would be odd if Fume, techincally the last boss of expansion, was easier than Velstadt.

Sorry, but that is the biggest pile of shit. It's easiest souls game with all it's bosses are trash except for the fume Knight, technically speaking the third game is, and so is the first, the entire community spoke out and claimed the second is the worst souls game. That's not something your lone "personal opinion" can change. I love all three games, but I'm not blinded by personal preference among them.

@@wearevenom4121 ds3 is easy as fuck, but ds1 is the best, ds2 second and easy ds3 is last. I played and completed ds1, ds2 and ds3, and ds3 got stale the fastest, ds1 and ds2 are enjoyable.

@@legion65446 Nah. Dark Souls 3 is hardest, Dark Souls 2 is second hardest, and Dark Souls 1 is easiest. Each game your movements get progressively faster. The 1st game had the slowest movement and the 3rd game had the fastesr movements. Also basically every boss in Dark Souls 3 had 2 or more phases plus they had way more combos. In Dark Souls 1 and 2 the bosses had hardly any combos so they were easier to beat plus they were slower

You don't have to clear all shards to kill him. Just clear one side and keep him at this side, he is glued to you and won't run away.

There’s 11 idols and 11 wedges, but one of them is after the Sir Alonne fight which can only be accessed after beating Fume Knight and claiming the crown of Iron boi as well as the ashen mist heart. In short, save 4 smelter wedges for fume knight arena cause you won’t get the last one til afterwards.

@@banterlegends5347 I returned to the PC version in December and used them wisely the second time. Still can't beat him. DS2 on PC feels like there is input lag when rolling or something.
