In all honestly, if Valve opened pre-orders across the entire world and also partnered with retail companies to sell the Steam Deck in stores and it ends up selling out, the Steam Deck should never be considered a "failure" even though it isn't.
The bit about emulating Switch games before release is not a lie. Mutahar emulated Xenoblade Chronicles 3 before it released, his reasoning to this is that some retail stores will sell games early but with a slightly higher price.
Every company is anti consumer and scummy to some degree but Nintendo is the most fun company to shit on do to the amount of people that get genuinely mad at you if do
And you can’t blame them since Nintendo is straight up evil. Unlike Playstation or Xbox where they can make a few good decisions… Nintendo flat out sucks for the past decade
7:48 Yeah. Nintendo Switch is cheaper than Steam Deck. But how many games do you have to buy for Switch before it gets more expensive? 2-4 On the other hand, if you are getting a Steam Deck, you probably have a steam library full of games ready to play. So for a person who plays primarily on PC. Steam Deck will be cheaper in the long run.
Just for the record there are some games that won’t run on Windows anymore. The reason is that they are 15 year old games that are calling something in the Window’s registry that doesn’t exist anymore.
That is more a problem with copy protection on old games that windows 10 and 11 consider a security issue/risk and block the games from running at all!
I do alot of emulation on Deck, it's amazing honestly. I run the Wii U version of BOTW at a constant 40fps on Deck, which is still a higher framerate than the Switch.
You can install windows on the steam deck, but I would not recommend it, windows it's not optimized for the steam deck. When I'm writing this comment there are over 7000 games verified or playable on the steam deck with the steamos installed, so anyone that complains about not having what to play it's a big liar.
As a Switch owner and long-time Nintendo fan, I wholeheartedly agree with this video. The Steam Deck is incredible in what it can do. People who think this isn’t a Switch-killer need to open their eyes (and I say this as someone who liked the Switch). Case-in-point, look at Doom Eternal. Id Software had to create a separate, visually downgraded version just to be able to run on the Switch at 30 fps. On the SD, you can play Doom Eternal on the highest graphical settings and get 60 fps - double the framerate! It even runs Switch games (sometimes even better than the Switch itself), so that whole argument of “the Switch has exclusives though” is completely invalid now. The only reason to get a Switch over a SD at this point would be if you like playing Nintendo’s online multiplayer. That’s it. And as for SD’s poor battery life, etc, those will most likely be fixed in the next iteration, and that’s what I’m waiting for. When the SD2 drops, i’m off the Nintendo train.
Mario odyssey and fire emblem warriors 3 houses own them on my switch so tried them on steam deck besides some graphic stuff the games run so well I've been playing them more on it than my switch
That part about physical games made me loose brain cells it’s like the only reasons why people buy physical on switch is a because they want to resell them down the line or b because they are a collector like on steam if you buy a game and you don’t like it as long as you haven’t been playing it for 2 hours or more you can get a full refund either actual money to your PayPal or whatever or directly to your steam wallet to buy more games plus there are always sales going on, on steam
I remember those “leaks” that claimed the switch pro was gonna output 4k60 and it will be a contender with the currentgen consoles, and I was dying of laughter because those were just baseless claims made by some randoms with no background. When I Said that switch is nothing more than a glorified tablet targeted at a certain audience to compete with the mobile devices, some Nintendo fanboy started calling me names, that i am a total idiot, that if the switch is a tablet, then the ps4 pro is a glorified laptop and still manages to output 4k60, ignorant the fact that it’s not technically possible yet… THEY GET SALTY OVER BASELESS CLAIMS. I swear, bro! The Nintendo fanboys will tear you apart over their brand…they’ve tasted human flesh, i Tell you
@@durshurrikun150 i know, they have that weird checkerboard technology and they dont Even have 60fps, rather 45-50 at best, but still… it was a surreal experience to witness that nintendrone rambling
@@falconer-ts8fq Sony peasants tried to claim that the PS5 will be able to do 8K, the claim about a supposed switch pro being able to do 4k 60 fps, when the newest consoles can't is as laughable as claiming that the PS5 can do 8K when only the very top of PCs can do that and barely. That fantasy switch pro will cost far more than 500$ and it will be a complete power hog, so I doubt it will even have 4K 60 fps while it is in battery mode.
@@Scornfull No it isn't, get over it. Peasants claim that their games are super well optimized and they can't even reach 60 fps and sometimes they struggle to reach 30 fps.
I'd actually prefer Nintendo switch over playstation and Xbox just for the sheer variety of games on it and you can take it on the go or on your tv but I don't do that fanboy shit you should enjoy gaming no matter what platform you use if I could afford a PC I'd buy one there are PC exclusive games I'd love to play again eventually
Another point missed. Steam OS is Linux. HALO is a windows game. I mean, tip the scales a bit here. A windows game runs wonky on Linux. Gee, that’s never happened before…😂
Can't run emulators? Lol Ever heard of Emudeck? Literally downloads emulators back to the Atari lol. Can't run AAA games? Wow. God of War, Horizon zero dawn, Control, Tomb Raider Trilogy. Batman Arkham series. This guy is always absurd lol.
if a switch broke and a steam deck broke, which one would be cheaper to repair? oh right, you just have to buy another switch while the SD just head on over to ifixit and order yourself a spare part. a joycon having stick drift? well looks like you have to pick up another set at $80 a pop with the steam deck able to get stick replacements at $20 each. One of the big draws of the steam deck for me was it's repairability and that right there is worth every penny.

This guy really thinks the switch is more powerful than the steam deck. Well ain't that cute, but that is WRONG. Yes the switch is powerful but Nintendo is very strict with their games and like every hardware, there is a limit and playing games that is too powerful for the system to handle will cause the switch to end up blowing up or something.
At this point I'm kinda wondering if they will have a steam deck 2 or something in a few years, I've been looking at GPD Win and all the other gaming handheld PCs for a while now, happy to see there is finally a more credible developer launching a handheld, but the track record of Steam hardware, be it steam link or the controller I'm not sure what I should think about the Steamdeck.
@@saifis I understand the skepticism but remember that the Steam Deck is the first REAL hardware device manufactured by them. 1. Steam Controller - This was Valve's first endeavor and experience into hardware manufacturing. Gave birth to the Steam Input API, a crucial part/feature of the Steam client. 2. Steam Machine - the hardware part is done by OEM'S and we already know what happened. 3. Steam Link - became redundant once smartphones and TV had the Steam Link app became available. 4. Valve Index - an expensive VR headset plus peripherals for a niche PCVR audience. A lot of hardware and design lessons were learned here. 5. Steam Deck - the culmination of all of Valve's hardware efforts and experiences. Also Valve continuously provides updates to their hardware despite not making them anymore. That doesn't mean you have to buy their hardware products. I'm just clarifying their "track record" on hardware.
@@universegaming1353 Its not skepticism really I'm just cautious, I own a steam link and steam controller, I want a steam link 2 because the thing can only do 1080p but it'll probably never happen, they make good stuff but they just never seem to do things long term well, be it their games or hardware.
This guy actually thinks the Switch would run Halo Infinite as well, let alone better than the Steam Deck? There are some games that look surprisingly beautiful for Switch, Metroid Prime Remastered comes to mind, but let's be real, Halo Infinite would have to get butchered to high Hell to make it work.
13:20 I've had an Nintendo switch since 2017 and now a steam day plus my actual gaming rig... if I was a single guy at no point would it ever occurred to me too grab my Nintendo switch to go out and meet girls lol I'm pretty sure it would have the opposite effect
idk what this fellas on about the steam deck is wonderful. my power supply died a while ago so I decided to give my steam deck a go again and I even managed to pirate ghost of tsushima and it runs pretty ok. I think the only thing the switch has over the steam deck is the fact its a bit easier to mod and pirate games, something this fucker wouldn't even know the first thing of. but idk I'm still having fun on my steam deck just playing my back log of games
Where do guys like this come from? 😢 tell me you have no life or friends without telling me SMDH. They will lie about anything to just sound relevant 😢.
Why is anyone paying attention to this clown? He's just spouting first thoughts on RU-vid for no reason at all other than be a contrarian/edgy, but this isn't a group chat, you can ignore this guy with 0 repercusions
10:25 but tbh you shouldn't have to instal windows in order to play every game in the steam deck especially right now windows won't run as great as steam OS you should be able to play every steam game in steam OS so he sort of has a point there but I would rather have a steam deck than a switch cause I enjoy cod zombies and I cant play that on the switch.
your forgetting there is 20000+ games on steam a decent chunk are games that aren't even on switch but are on every other console so steam deck can get some slack.
Dude do you blame Nintendo for shutting down the melee tournament for using emulators? I mean they aren't playing the official version of it. So tbh I don't blame them for doing that.
If Nintendo would make an official port for the Nintendo switch they wouldn't need to resort to emulation. And even then do you think the contestants didn't give Nintendo already enough of their money.
Maybe if Nintendo didn’t sit on the fucking game and actually made it ready to play outside of a console that’s now ever only owned by some fat sweaty collector who’ll charge you almost triple the release price we wouldn’t be having the piracy “problem” we have right now with 20+ year old games. If Nintendo actually wants to fix the problem, they need to quit being retarded and release the game for their current systems and not through the switch online bullshit
7:45 I might have to disagree on you on that , sure features and power are important but exclusives is what makes me buy a certain console that's the only thing nintendo got or otherwise no one will buy a switch if all platforms had the same exact gamesn (except for portability)
people would still buy nintendo for the gimmick stuff exclusives for the most part never have a high attachment rate only one four of every console instalment have a exclusive.
The switch outside of its gimmick does the bare fucking minimum as a console. It plays games and nothing else, the games it does play that aren’t ports run and play great. But we all know the switch can’t handle most ports without some sort of neutering to even run stable. Don’t even get me started on the form factor. I get that the joycons are made the way they are to accommodate the portability gimmick, but goddamn, could they have made them more ergonomic. Like seriously, the thing is uncomfortable to hold and I or anyone shouldn’t have to go buy a pro controller or a third party controller to make the experience more comfortable and less cramped.
