Hi there Apollo.. I'm really happy to know that you are playing AoE2.. i hope you are having fun playing this beautiful game.. if you don't mind i would love to give you some suggestion and advice in hoping to make you a better player.. here are some that come in mind : 1. Most of the civs in AoE2 have some type of unit that they really excel whether it is infantry, range, cavalry, or siege and those civs also have some type of unit that they are bad at because of a lack of necessary upgrade and they also have units that's decent (Not as exceptional, but also not bad). In case of vikings, they usually go with berserk/Champion with Arbales/Skirmisher/Scorpion in late game. Having knights in late game usually is a bad idea because of their lack of available upgrade 2. Never ever make spearman/pikeman or skirmisher early in the game. Even though they are a great unit in respective in countering cavalry and archer, early on it isn't really helping in dealing damage against your enemy. Create gold unit first to deal damage to enemy's army and only then will you create spearman or skirmisher if you know that you will soon going to deal against enemy cavalry or archer. 3. Try to learn some basic build order like Fast Castle or Fast Imperial if you are going to play in an arena kind of map again. They can really help in making sure that you will have a good firm standing in fighting against your enemy 4. Don't forget to upgrade your military using blacksmith and also don't forget that you can use market to buy or sell resources. Having trade cart in late game could really help in making sure that your resources won't easily run out. Oh.. and some correction from me.. Relics will give you a gold income as if you have an invisible single villager harvesting it.. Relic will also enable you to achieve relic victory if enabled as long as your team have all of the relics in. And about the score.. Even though it looked like your score is somewhere in the middle.. AoE2 teams scoring actually put the cumulative average scoring as a first guidance in their score ranking.. So in a way, that actually means that you are the fourth player in score of your team and your team cumulative average score is higher than the enemy score. Have fun playing AoE2 Apollo..

Wow i should have watch this earlier. in my game time experience playing AOE, from the first edition to DE version, the mistakes that new player did as far in my concern was not spending their resources really well. I mean look at that resources on the late game, you could've spend some to build military building and army. but i'm so glad that Pixelated Appolo made some AOE2DE gameplay, and yes teamgame in AOE is so much fun. huge love for your total war content

you need to put more archers in your arrow towers and forts to increase their rate of fire, and that makes your skirmishers more sustainable too. it's a good way to hold ground : towers with couple of archers within to harass ennemi's workers and scouts.
