The amazing thing is how much volume you get now. Compared to an 80’s J-35 the volume is insane and the boat speed is two knots more. Impressive

Thanks for doing a review on a boat more people can afford.

In most cases, Beneteau products ships on the principle of invested = received. they are not scattered with expensive materials, but their boats are so well used, the only thing that would really be a better version with two cabins would be a bigger shower and storage. a lot of new boats have all the ropes tucked under the plates on the deck I'm old school I like to keep an eye on all the ropes ;-)

What a nice boat: lots of sail area with the ability to address light/heavy airs, light/bright & appropriate cabin footprint (amazing space!), 7.5 to 8 knots in 10 -12 both upwind and down with probably 31' of H2oline- I'd be very happy doing that all day long on flat seas! Losing 500 Kg? Not sure how it was done, hope the boat is sturdy enough to last 'til resale? Pretty, fast-ish for the family crowd, I'm sure it'll be a Beneteau winner!!! LOVE, no ADORE the swing keel option for lots of reasons. Deeper when down, 'driable' when up & relatively modest maintenance over time. Winner!!!!

Finally some design improvements with Beneteau. But at that price level, I would go instead for an Azuree 33C with higher build quality and better layout.

@lovropirkl2672 2 года назад
An Azuree costs about 2 to 3 times more than this Beneteau. Good luck affording it.

I tested the 40’ . It was not a very strong feeling boat. Corners cut wherever feasible and minimal extras that make a boat special. It was like it had been produced on a production line without human intervention. Not for me.

Do you recon that I could use this boat to start proper voyages from Livingston Rio Ducle Guatemala to the whole Caribean?

Does a 35' boat really need two wheels? Also. What was all that noise that seemed to be coming from under foot when you were moving around the cabin? I don't see that holding much value in a few years. That said. It has a place for someone sailing close to home who has a bit of disposable money. Thanks for doing a smaller boat tobey. Not everyone can afford a 60'+ yacht.
@rudy4986

I sailed the Elan E4 which is roughly the same size and I found the twin wheels really enjoyable. much better than 1 big wheel in the center which limits the movability in the cockpit. So in my oppinion really a plus to have twin wheels
@keithfaulkner1288
@keithfaulkner1288 2 года назад
@@rudy4986 I won't argue with you. Not only is it easier for visibility but it looks nice too. But. I'm sure you could cut costs by eliminating it. After all. It still is a 35' boat.

You said a swinging keel, but is it as you described it a lifting keel or both?
@yachtingworld
@yachtingworld 2 года назад
It is a hydraulic controlled deep draught lift keel Patrick, where the base swings aft, pivoting from the head - as used by Jeanneau and similar by Pogo
@MrAppelvink
@MrAppelvink 2 года назад
@@yachtingworld Ok thanks, I hoped this swinging keel was like the one on the IMOCA's which swing to starboard and port to be able to carry more sail, Would be nice on a 34 footer :-)
@paulpaul9914
@paulpaul9914 2 года назад
@@MrAppelvink The port starboard keel on the Imocas is usually called a canting keel.
@MrAppelvink
@MrAppelvink 2 года назад
@@paulpaul9914 Oh I see now. So swinging is from down backwards up with the ax in the hull, lifting is straight up like some daggerboards and canting from side to side. My english is a bit limited but it improved now. Tx

Looks like Marc Lombard had his wings clipped on this one, the RM 1070 is far superior ..

Self tacking jib, but no main traveler?!?! Moulding for the alternative option left in place (they couldn’t afford two deck mounds for the two different options)?!?! I’ll give you $40K for it: it’s on par with a 1980’s Catalina 34 or Ericson 35 (both older but better build quality and comparable sailing capabilities).
@Philippe275

i would imagine this will be one of the most popular boat in the world for years to come... they should have more build slot for this model really if they can fill their slot so quickly. it's their smallest A rated sailboat, why go for the old 38 its the old model, its ugly, same with the 40. I hope they refresh those to be more in line with the new 46 they will be damn sexy then

Very nice for coastal sailing but I would NEVER take one of these blue water. Got one thing, twin rudders? A ridiculous compromise that's only there to show for that insanely wide aft. And which only work well on the heel. There actually decremental sailing downwind or in light wind and they're completely unprotected. Add into that a deck stepped mast and bolt on keel and it's just too many compromises.
@BStrapper
@BStrapper 2 года назад
99.8 pct of all sailors never go for blue water sailing. that boat is also faster than 99 pct of all 34 footers.

Whoa. That's a cheap built sailboat. I reckon I'd rather buy a 30 year old boat and spend money on a refit. These IKEA interiors are not built to last more than 10 years. This makes this boat a disposable item and unclean for our world.

First off I love these videos but when is Yachting World going to show/expect reviewers to sail with LIFE JACKETS!!! Family cruiser = family safety. People emulate what they see professionals doing. Just saying.
