Your videos are very informative! Are lahore pigeons good flyers? I know they don’t have homing instincts and will never be as strong flyers as tumblers, homers and feral pigeons, but could I, for example, take lahores that live indoors to fly around my backyard once a day (under supervision of course)?
Theyre not generally great flyers as theyre usually bred to be quite plump but if they have a controlled diet and plenty of flight indoors they can get quite strong flight over very short distances indoors. Definitely would require supervision to look out for predators but no free flight is without risk, especially with fancy birds that are not very agile and poor survival instincts.
Do you/ can you do a video about pigeons and getting them a mate or friend? Just found out my rock pigeon is a female and I’m not sure if I want to get her a male or maybe another female and they can be friends. Or would they be uncomfortable during mating season forever? I’m fairly new to pigeons I’ve had this one I rescued for about 5 months now and she is happy and formed a good bond with me but I feel she might get lonely when I’m not home.
Hi, I mention about single pigeons or pairs in my Pigeons as Pets series playlist, I think the episode on Choosing & Acquiring a Pigeon? I am also working on the next episode for that series which will be on nesting and breeding. Please check it out!
