I had a English teacher who would play beach boys songs before class.

The opening electric guitar introduction of the original version of the song was based on Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode", which in turn was based on the intro of Louis Jordan's "Ain't That Just Like a Woman (They'll Do It Every Time)"

This has forever been my favorite Beach Boys song. As an adult and teacher, I now have a different spin on the significance of the lyrics than I did when I first heard the song at age 14. The song is all about...parental and adolescent discipline! Look and listen to the lyrics and see if you can tell!

I have been trying to figure out what the lyrics have been for years. Everytime i hear this song in public i can never make out most of the lyrics. Especially "T-Bird". When i was a young child, i thought it was beach ball.

I always envisioned her of driving a starlight blue 1957 T-bird.

I would have NEVER guessed that they were saying "T-bird" in this song. I knew every other lyric, but I thought they were saying "TV" and that didn't make sense.

I'm only 17( literally will be 18 in a week) and I sit here and jam out to Beach boys. My one teacher would call me a weirdo because I knew literally any Beach boys song that my school played. Me and my teacher had a love/hate relationship. He was one of my favorite teachers. He left my school. I'm a senior I was heart broken. Every time I would get mad at him I'd say his first name angerly. He didn't care.
