This was such a blessing to watch!! I love our elders, all the knowledge, all the wisdom, all the lessons and all the love is an experience & can’t be replaced, it is definitely valuable & priceless! Thanks for sharing your experience with us, I miss all my aunts and my grandma that are no longer here! ❤
I loved watching you make this banana pudding recipe I’m making this banana right now thanks for helping me with the old fashioned recipe this is exactly how I wanted to make mine thank you so much
Just found you. So good to see your mom in law passing on her skills in the kitchen. We need more of this. We don’t need a lot of boxes and cans to make meals. I will pass this on to my granddaughter. Thanks for sharing.
OMG this was my mom and I in kitchen from my childhood through adult as she lived with me. Memories🥰 She passed last December at 102. Thanks for this video. ❤My son has been asking for this so I’m going to make it.

Wow....what a blessing! I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. I've been looking for a recipe for Ole School REAL Banana Pudding and here it is! Plus the added bonus of learning it from an Elder? That's the icing on the cake. This was awesome. Thank you!
April and Mama Harris, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I made this while watching your video, and when I tell you I fainted and hit the floor when I tasted it because it was SO GOOD. BEST I’ve ever had and 1st time making it. The family Loved it too. Gone with cha Bad Self , 😂
There is a process knowing as tempering where if you need to add egg or egg yolk to a hot mixture you can take a small amount of the hot mixture and wisk the egg/egg yolk as you add the hot mixture. Then pour it to the pot once you finish mixing.
Thank you both for sharing such an amazing recipe. This has the be the BEST BANANA PUDDING ever!!! I’ve made it several times and have all turned out perfectly. Thank you!
I have tried multiple banana pudding recipes via RU-vid, and they all were a bust... Until I found this recipe. I made this pudding the other day, and all I can say is Thank You TO Mama Harris:) It is soooo good! I can not wait to make it again!!!!
You ladies inspired me to try momma Harris Banana pudding, I am having my nephew and his beautiful girlfriend over for dinner tonight and will be making the banana pudding for dessert. I can't wait to try it. Thank you both and a special shout out to momma Harris for sharing her recipe.
A labor of LOVE. Such a joy to watch and learn. My 87 mother-in-law taught me how to make banana pudding - but I've yet to make it alone. I learned some really helpful tips from your video. Amazing that these two women made this delicious dessert for their children and grandchildren for many years- by themselves. I would need at least four hands!
Love this! Cooking with your elders is something we everyone should be doing. Their knowledge can never replaced. Once they’re gone, all this knowledge is gone. I lost my mom 20 years ago and I wish so much that I had done more cooking with her in the kitchen. Thank goodness I learned to cook a few of her dishes because she didn’t use a recipe. It was just a little of this and a dash of that! Nobody can cook like our own mamas did!!! Thanks for sharing this and learn all you can while she’s still here and give her a big hug from me! I just love our elders, they’re so precious!❤
April I love your voice and your laugh. You are a loving daughter-in-law who is blessed with a loving mother-in-law. May GOD continue to bless you my dear.🙏🏽
Love when you said right MAMA, 😁 Oh my goodness, yes that was my job when I was little, LoL, mama would say, keep stirring..., Now I'm 56, and that was a blessing for your mother in law to share her, master cooking skills...this is what we lack as a culture, the ability to take in our elders lessons...I truly thank you for sharing...🙏💯
That's a blessing to see my elders teaching you how to cook, really reminds me of my grannies who I really miss seeing them cook. Enjoy your mother in law too the fullest!❤❤❤
Thank you both for passing along Mrs. Harris' banana pudding recipe. I now feel much more confident about making pudding from scratch and am eager to try this recipe. Yum!!
Thanks first of all for cooking with Mama. That is so nice to see her passing on her cooking skills and wisdom. So glad to see Homemade Banana Pudding like real Banana Pudding is suppose to be without those recipes with the Jello pudding in them. That is not HOMEMADE that is box made. You are doing it the real BANANA PUDDING WAY. SOOOOOOO DELICIOUS!!!!! Good eating. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You are so sweet and respectful to your momma 💗 We have to listen to them carefully so that we can continue to make these classic recipes for our children ❤️

@@essenceofmahoganyproductionswhat a beautiful relationship you have with your mother in law!!!! I also have a wonderful MIL who I learned some great cooking skills from! I just noticed this is 4 years ago. I hope she is still here with you! Mine is 92 and she just got out of the hospital with her first bout of covid!❤️🥰
@leahpitman2731 Thank you so much 😊 yes she is still with us at 91 years young. I would love to do more episodes with her but it’s a bit much for her now. I love like she is my own mother we are very close. Thank you again. I pray your mother-in-law gets better.
Wow your mom in law looks like my grandma MoMA Carrie. She is also a great cook like my grandma was when she was alive!!! GOD bless u both!!! Thank yall for the recipe!!!
🫶🏾🥰This is beautiful and historical I’m going to make this in honor of your Mother in Law you are so blessed to have this gem in your life Praying that the Most High continue to bless you ALL ❤️🙏🏾🥰
Hello Ladies - I made this recipe and the family really liked it. We do want to make it again, but less sweet if possible. Will the custard be adversely affected if I take out 1/2 cup of sugar?
Good Evening Mama and Daughter I'm just letting you know that I made your banana 🍌 pudding. The recipe was so awesome that i was making it why you were talking. It came out so so very GOOD.Just like my mother made. I thank you ☺️❤️ so much for the recipe 😊 I really appreciate it.
Thanks for the video it came out perfect It got a little thick so I added a little milk at a time to get the right creamy it should be when you added to the pan w/ the bananas and wafers. It’s delicious 👍🏽
Thank you so much momma harris for sharing your talents and experience with me! Banana Pudding is my favorite!!! 💯👅😋 I will definitely be making this!! 🥰
Thank you and your sweet mother n law for sharing her yummy recipe. I will be trying this out for Thanksgiving because this is the real deal old school Flava😍😍😍 Much love and happy holidays to you and your family.💖💖💖💖
I was taught the same way but now I just mix everything and put it in the microwave for 8 minutes at a time. Stirring in between til I get the thickness that I want. Then cool it down in the fridge before pouring over my cookies and bananas
This was my favorite dessert growing up. Only we always topped the finished pudding with meringue slightly toasted. This is better recipe than the one made with Jello pudding and cool whip. No shortcuts.
