Like the format. I don’t mind content that isn’t “original”, seeing how different people tackle the similar challenges is valuable to those of us who have a lot to learn.
The thing about originality is that we all build upon the ideas given to us by others. We all have different ways to approach a project, different experience, different equipment, so there's nothing wrong with making something for yourself that you have seen others do too. I quite enjoyed seeing this little piece and can see why it would be very handy as well in laying out projects with scribe lines as well as measuring depths of slots and holes.
Dave I’ve only just recently started watching your videos and find them entertaining and educational. I also find it very satisfying to use tools that I have made. A rule stop may not get a lot of use in a machine shop, but when you need one you will have it. I have at times spent hours making some little tool that I could have bought for a couple of dollars. Keep the videos coming.
is that a good milling machine ? I saw a lot of rebranded ones, and mostly people complain about the gears and the sound. what is your experience with it ?
It's a great machine but like anything from China it's luck of the draw. I have two of them and did a lot of rework and upgrades to both. Some upgrades i made some bought. I have a lot of videos on this.
Your content is not boring or repetitive, Dave. I'm watching to glean some of your expertise and knowledge of machining on the mini lathe and mini mill, and your take on new and innovative products.
G'day Dave, Kevin here from Australia. I think that could be a useful tool. Pick a ruler and put it on . Now leave it in a prominent spot and see if you use it. Anyhoo thanks for sharing man i always enjoy your videos. ✌ Peace Dave.
Hi Dave, format is good. Make videos when you WANT to. Since I have retired I find I have little to make videos about as mine were mainly of products I was making for customers. I think you need to perhaps to forget about a weekly video, it can be too demanding. Anyone that uploads is well aware of the time it takes to plan, make and edit a video. Just do it when you feel you want to. Don’t think you will lose viewers because you can’t manage a regular schedule of videos. Enjoyed the video as always.
Dave, you have never done a video that I didn't enjoy. Even if someone else has covered the material, your approach makes it original and interesting. 73's.
I’ve always enjoyed your channel, but you shouldn’t feel obligated to put out something every week! I think there’s a lack of information for the newbies, me included, who have lathes and mills without DRO’s. Some episodes that focus on tips and tricks for the non-DRO crowd would be welcomed! Gotta tell you that you really caught me off guard when you said “let’s go to the bandsaw”, and proceeded to go sit on the floor!
Gday Dave, it’s good to have a different view of the shop, I found it interesting and I reckon you’ll use that tool more often then you think, great job mate, cheers Matty
Dave think of yourself as being a teacher in a machine shop and were the students. How would you teach us to use a piece of equipment or make something. What kind of problems have you learned in machining? Pass on what you have learned. This comment made to help you think of subjects to do videos on.
I love your bandsaw position. The lighting was interesting. Early on was interesting watching a man standing in the dark doing something with knobs. Interesting keep up the good work. And by the way there’s never been anything wrong with any of the videos that you put out and always informative and entertaining. I sometimes mimic you in my videos, hoping they will catch on. kimberzelik@youtube
