yeah I remember that! Think they are making some decent money off this one given how popular it is! One of those things you have to do though, I think.
We did this on Saturday after the cable car and the Monte gardens. It was about a 40 minute wait which wasn’t actually too bad as it’s mostly in shade. The ride it’s self is a need to do in Funchal, what I can say is, we’ve now done it and won’t feel the need to go again. It’s good fun, it’s not an adrenaline inducing hyper ride (there’s plenty of guided down hill MTB tours for that. €35, it’s pricey, but, you do have to do it. My recommendation is to get the bus back down to Funchal, Madeiran bus drivers are a breed un to themselves😉
At one time the toboggans used to travel across cobbles and all the down into Funchal. We've taken the toboggan from Monte many times whilst on holiday in Madeira and usually walk the remainder of the journey back into Funchal ending at the market to top up on fresh fruit.
I think I would have caught the bus back up, that would be one steep walk . We caught the bus up to Monte from Funchal, explored the area then went to gauge the queue for the toboggan bit it was huge on the day we visited so we just enjoyed watching others. Those roads certainly take some hammering, very shiny surface. I agree you do it as it is unique and to tick a box but not such fun if you are stuck in a queue or behind cars. Glad you hata better run this time round. Keep the Madeira content coming 👍😀☀️
Hahha you can never beat the queues; people get there early - even when it’s raining! I really enjoyed seeing your POV. It felt like we were on the journey with you 😊
Hi Joe great to meet you in person. We bumped into you and you recommended Bela 5 it was closed when we got there. We intend coming back next year and maybe retire. Keep up the good work. Steve and Allison 🎉
Another crazy good vlog about beautiful Madeira❤ I never saw such hilarious funny slides in the dry season - where is the snow ? Lol !I`m a fan of Madeira and Funchal, there is really a lot to discover and it has many beautiful views and food - lucky you, Joe❣👍😊
Great & informative video re the toboggan ride (can’t believe you actually cycled up to Monte, now that’s keen lol). Worth noting that it’s not that long of a walk into the city centre if you fancy a stroll. Keep up the good work Joe!
Lol the years when madeirans where the " rich lords " dance monkeys is Over, back in the XVIII hundreds and XIX Hundreds those men where worth less than the cobblestones in the ground, today... They have a mini bus, and a truck that carries them and the wiker carts uphill
I’m sorry to hear that. No I don’t think so, you aren’t jumping all over the place. Perhaps let them know (even translate into Portuguese) and avoid them going from side to side like they do sometimes. (Not medical advice haha)
