TrailRecon is a RU-vid channel that my son and I started in 2015 to share our off-road and overland adventures. This channel started out with the simple goal of making memories while exploring trails in Southern California, but as I filmed more of our adventures, many folks like you asked me to share more details about my vehicles, camping gear and eduction about planning trips.
I've come to love filming content for you all and I hope my videos inspire you to get out and hit the trails. You'll find many off-road and overland adventure videos here, some detailed reviews of gear I've used, tips and tricks I've learned from my adventures and I'll point out the way to breathtaking new trails for fellow off-roaders like you to explore.

That part on your right across the highway from Henry's Lake just before you bend right towards West Yellowstone is 680 acres that has been in my mom's family for over a hundred years. Has very little commercial or development value which is probably why it is still in the family. This video is making me want to throw everyone in the gas guzzling SUV and drive to the other side of the state where I spent so much time when I was growing up.
Love to watch your videos Brad ! CONGRATS making it to the artic circle! Be careful on your journey, good luck and God bless. And Hello from Sacramento, Ca. 😃 Robert Lopez
Help!! I'm a mom who plans on taking my boys camping. They'll be kayaking and sometimes biking. We need to keep in touch when cell service isn't an option. What's my best option. From your video I'm assuming the GMRS option?
We have tried the folding one, but you have to replace the bag after every use because there is no cover. We also have one that is a smaller bucket with a proper seat and a cover that is air tight, and it has an insert that comes out and hold the t.p. roll for you. Drop a bag in the bucket with some cedar chips and silica cat litter. It lasts for 3 or 4 days at least (thats with only my wife doing #1 in it. I still do that outside too lol).
How to camp without actually camping. Way too much gadgetry that will at some point break and cause problems. This is for people who desire to show off more than actually get way out of cell phone signal. Then again whoever buys this trailer will almost certainly have a satellite phone to show off too.
Your adventure has brought back a lot of memories of our trip up there. Unfortunately we didn't drive up, so we booked a train/bus tour. Flew to Anchorage, went to Denali, then to Fairbanks, then to Tok. Supposed to continue by bus to Dawson City but they had a road wash out. They flew us into Dawson City Airport. Stayed a night in Dawson City. Took a tour up the Dempster Hwy. Took the Klondike Hwy to Whitehorse. Took the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway narrow gauge train to Skagway (the route the miners in the Klondike Gold Rush took between 1896 and 1899). Boarded the ship and toured Glacier Bay, then down to Vancouver to fly back to California. The trip of a lifetime! And as you said, the beauty of the Yukon and areas are incredible!
We just did the Dalton highway last week. We are planning on driving the Dempster next. We hear the Dempster is more scenic. Prudoe Bay is cool to experience but it’s kind of an anticlimactic end to a very expensive journey. Especially since you can’t legally drive to the Arctic Ocean. I really think the PanAmerican highway northern terminus should be moved to Tuktoyaktuk
Hey Brad, glad the trip is going well. If not mentioned by others, right when you said bugs have been almost nonexistent, one flew into the lens, which was hilarious…safe travels, sir. PS folks may find it strange that you talk about your health, but it’s incredibly important. My wife and I were on a six week adventure last year and ended up on week two with a major medical emergency. C’est la vie at times (a first for us)
Nice to cross paths with you and Shawn in BC, (sorry for making you wait while I was blocking the Alaska sign with my rv) from my trip it definitely looks like you had an amazing trip …. kinda makes me jealous I am not going that far north, just hit Dawson City myself
2022 we did the trip to Tuktoyaktuk just after they opened the area after Covid. Then into Alaska, down to Haines Alaska (A must drive) then back home in Oregon. It was a great trip.
There are so called "Polar Bear Clubs" and there are those real Polar Bear Clubs located on the Arctic Ocean. I joined the one in Point Barrow, AK. I'm looking forward to your adventure!
I spent the first 46 years of my life living in British Columbia, never drove the Dempster. Now that I'm close to retirement and living in Texas my wife and I are considering driving to Tuk. We'd like to tow a medium sized off-grid travel trailer and would like to hear from those who have gone before if they think it's feasible to drag a trailer along.
Excuse me sir. I am a Chinese factory that makes off-road vehicle luggage racks, trays, climbing boards, shock absorbers. I saw you using these products. Is there any opportunity for cooperation? Can you leave me your contact information?
'Was just there the week of May 10-2024. Probably one of the coolest places I've ever been. All the cows had just calved, so there were momma cows and their new babies everywhere.
