To give more merit to freelance, Ive had some groups of randoms that got consistently around 150-160 eggs per shift because we all stuck around with each other and learned what each person wanted to be doing. So don’t just leave if some random aren’t doing amazing on your first shift, give it a few tries and you may just be surprised
hah, same...atleast in Eggsecutive VP, after i ended up back in profreshional after a lousy random weekend not so much anymore, really makes me think if maybe i am the problem...
The problem with freelancers is that many don't know the lure mechanic. They might be perfect at killing, but you only get the minimum because there are a gazillion of eggs on the shore/away from basket. I've had many extremely good boss killers but rarely go above 50 eggs in Prof+2/+3.
Competition for getting that gold Cohozuna figure is probably going to be stiff, but I'm definitely gonna try my hardest to get it! Also, excellent tips on the specials. I see a lot of people want to save specials for wave 3, since that tends to be the hardest, but you've gotta realize that not using your specials means you may not make it to wave 3 to begin with!
Hands up anyone who's lost a session because one or more of your teammates didn't use their specials when needed or on the 3rd wave. I may be bad at the game but I've made it a habit to use my specials (ngl though seeing a celebratory booyabomb is quite a sight).
To the random reading this... Hello :) Ok but seriously though don't let these horror stories get to you. Everyone has to start somewhere and it's too easy to put yourself down. There are plenty of people who just play the mode because it's fun. I do anyway, and I stick around (for better or worse) because I remember being new and I want to help new players. That and rounds with randoms can be some of the most fun events in this game.
Looking forward to big run! Thanks for these guides. I mostly just want my freelance coworkers to STOP RUSHING THE SHORE IMMEDIATELY AT THE START OF ANY WAVE! LET THEM COME TO YOU!
If it hasn't been done before, I would really like for a dedicated video on Snatchers to be made so that more people are aware of just how useful it is to keep an eye on them and use them to bring eggs to more convenient spots on the maps.
Can’t wait! It’s important to know how to use the weapons a bit before getting into Big Run. You can practice at Grizzco with rotation specific weapons or Sheldon’s training room to try out every weapon before getting them
No matter how many times I've used each weapon in a rotation I always warm up with all 4 before I start doing runs. Just to refresh myself muscle memory on each of them and how many hits to kill each target
I think there's a small problem with the two training areas in question. Since both Normal Online Play and Salmon Run has nearly all weapons to work differently (Mainly their damage and ink consumption), you can't really practice all weapons for Salmon Run unless if you play private matches (Which does require another person to play with as you can't do it solo despite being able to in the tutorial). I wish Grizzco Training Area allows you to practice all weapons, including the special Grizzco Weapons...but they have never implemented something like that yet...
@@forrestegan unfortunately grizzo weapon can only appear during random weekends ,and you can only test it in the training grounds if your last shift end with that weapon and you have yet to leave the training grounds That's as far as I know
I always blindly trust my teammates in Freelance. It's worked out way more often than you'd think, at least in EVP--it has definitely cost me sometimes, but it really frees up my own focus.
I had a run yesterday at the start of gone fission where my team (freelancers) were consistently getting 100-120 eggs per shift. We reached evp 160 in one go. Every one knew what they’re supposed to do heck even glowfly waves were ez pz. So yeah don’t underestimate freelancing you’ll be surprised.
Thanks for the video this is very helpful! I am playing with two groups of friends I trust as well as freelance and this video really helps me consider my play styles. One other big factor of overfishing tbh is luck as well. Of course if the group isn't skilled enough to pull it off, it wouldn't happen, but recently a team got 300 eggs because they got Tornado, Mist and Grillers in one run. The first JP team to get 200 in NW also had Grillers, Mudmouth and Mothership. Good luck to everyone taking part!
Oh it is very possible people do it every shift - quite literally there are people who freelance every single shift to 999. Dear @Minaraii on Twitter posts every 2nd day of they accomplishing it in fact.
@@rascol6024 even so it feels like you need to get lucky at least 4 times with good teams since you can't stick with a team more than 2 hours. Best I've gotten is 560 but I always seem to get first round failures over and over once I'm around that level which knocks it back down considerably until I get lucky with another good team.
I have saved way too many games with specials when I had no other teammates who bothered to use specials at all… even on Wave 3. Like come on! It’s the last wave why are you saving/not even know specials exist while simultaneously being in EVP?
Me in eggsecutive VP thinking freelance groups would be better "oh nice, my teammate used his booyah bomb on the first round in the last five seconds of the match and nobody in our squad needs to be revived."
I hate it when I have a plan for snatchers to carry the eggs closer to the basket & my teammates instantly kill them before they made any good progress towards the basket.
I think this Big Run series will help me, and it will be fun to return to Splatoon 3 a lot, especially with your videos showing tips and tricks for the game. And I hope that someday you and me can team up in like a Salmon Run, though this possibly won’t happen. But even if it doesn’t, I will use your tips and tricks to get better at Salmon Run.
I always do even if I end up messing it up. Better a wasted special than not using it at all. Very rarely will you get a session when you didn't need a special.
The amount of times I would look at my teammates' head just to check if they didn't use their special for the entire shift & faceplam. I get really peeved when I see that, knowing they could've helped during the other waves. I can't stress this enough to everyone but please use your specials for Big Run. Don't just keep them for end of the shift celebrating.
I'd love to do salmon run, let alone big run, with my group of friends but I'm the only one in said group who has splatoon 3. Just as well I want to go into big run just for the sheer fun of the event as that's the real reward! The memory.
On the value of playing with teammates you gel with - As someone who only does Freelance - I would rather have a team of people who I spend half the time wondering how they've reached the current rank I'm at where we're all on the same page as each other than have a team where I'm impressed by the skill of the rest of the team but none of our playstyles compliment each other at all. Obviously having a high-skill group where everyone's on the same page is better, but...
Do we know if matchmaking is based off of salmon run shifts or just regular gameplay? I recently dropped a few ranks and don't want to be matchwd with them for big run
That is actually a very good question... I hope that it is dependent on your Grizzco Rank...but I can understand it would make finding good players even harder for those that aren't EVP's, especially those that are good enough to reach EVP but got ranked down to Profreshional or worse due to having bad shifts because of getting paired up with players who aren't adjusted to higher hazard levels...
something id need is a tutorial on how to deal with the new map haha, it is very difficult for me, and the cramped long nature of it makes it very hard to retrieve eggs without getting overrun by salmonids
Are there any salmon run groups on telegram? Not a huge fan of discord, but will figure it out if I have to, but I already have telegram, so if there's one there that'd be great.
Question: Is there a way to predict where snatchers will carry eggs? Like, will they always go to the other side of the map or will they sometimes head straight back out to sea? Also, is it really worth it to collect the golden eggs on a fish stick when a snatcher can carry them down for you?
My switch broke and won't let me play in handheld mode so I'm going to be missing out on Big Run for the time being 🥲 (I refuse to play wireless because I am very bad with the pro controller)
