In today's video (which I recorded mostly on 3-23-19), I identify possible lawn disease issues in a persistent trouble spot. I also treat this area organically with a peat moss mixture, and show a brief follow-up to the treatment.

Mycostop has the good ingredient in it that peat moss contains to fight damping off and other fungus troubles. Regular peat moss helps to by being sterile and acidic but if you already have moisture retentive soil then you may have to apply it lightly. Bayer Natria disease control is bacillus subtillus and labeled as a preventative for some turf diseases and really handy if your growing vegetables or small fruit like strawberries next to turf and you can harvest the same day you apply. Thank you for thinking outside the mainstream there is no content like this on here!

Thanks!!! I appreciate it, thinking about using some propiconazole next week if growth is still looking stunted.

Ahhhhhh, it is starting to make sense now. This is the product I usually use when adding topsoil, but only because it says topsoil on the bag, and would always wonder why is it that every time I use this my lawn looks better than when using a different product. Thanks for posting this 👍

I can also try “sprigging” stolons of your st. Augustine in the bare spots to see if they will take root! Best of luck!!

You showed a week out update from the topsoil/peat moss treatment. What happened as time went by? That section with the chlorosis looks almost identical to what I'm seeing in my St. Augustine versus the just totally dead section you showed in your TARR videos.

The lawn started bouncing back a little bit, definitely needed to be cleaned up and kickstarted with fresh growth.

Hey Don it’s me again, I got some bald spots on my yard, do you recommend using the scotts top soil so the bald spots can get filled in?
@donslawns1
@donslawns1 5 лет назад
YES! it seems to be a quality product, the St. Augustine likes to spread into it.

Did it ever work I live in Texas too and I have the same problem same grass. I was wondering did it work so I my have to do the same.
@donslawns1
@donslawns1 4 года назад
It does work/help- but it takes longer than using a product like Scott’s Disease-Ex. It wouldn’t hurt to “topdress” trouble spots every so often with peat moss.

is that soil you dug for grubs? It looks awful, literally the worst I've seen. What was on the surface, so bulbus and dark black? Looked like horse droppings but then it was grayish clay underneath....and I think I saw stones in there too! You need to trop dress like 3 or 4 times with thick amounts of compost. .25 inch minimum...a few weeks after the grass comes through fully, then dress it again ideally half inch... Top dress your way out of the clay man.
