In this video, we once again dive deep into the archives. That's only appropriate, as we're profiling “Same The Record Man” and his Record Museum, which specializes in keeping the past sounding fresh.
Located high up on an unassuming street (12/F, Nam Hing Fong, 39 Yiu Wa St) in dense Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, “Sam” aka James Tang, has a mad lab of recorded sound, with ample samples from each medium. Whether it's metal record test pressings to specific reissues separated by region, Tang painstakingly details how well sounds of popular music are preserved.
If that's not your bag, don't worry: the lecture, or rather the multi-media dramatic monologue, he performs while explaining this is so wildly entertaining, it's a must for music nerds or the layman alike. James is a funky treasure of Hong Kong. Check it out!
