@@funlinerproductions7071. I'll give you one even better than that, I'll turn off my notifications to your channel and hide it. If only more people would do that instead of giving you attention. Goodbye.
Yeah, something not judged, yet, arguably probably a surprise favorite among people that attended. I've always known that RU-vid vids don't do any of these performances in drum corps justice, but man, was this at times hair-raising even through here!
can’t lie this show was INSANELY hype to see in person on finals. and the hornline sounded phenomenal and well deserved of 1st that night. insane energy from every performer especially the drum major!
I know you guys typically focus on the higher scoring corps, but I'd love to hear yall's thoughts on some of the fan favorite shows from this year like Troopers or Phantom
Relly cool to see brass players react to this show. I'm a drummer and you guys point out flaws I'd never even notice if nobody ever said anything. Love the vids!
We’ve been saying it all season. I wonder if the staff at least thought about it and tried it out during rehearsal cause it’d be surprising if we thought about it and they didn’t
It’s all about being in the moment, respectful of the difficult time corps have been through, happy to be competing again, the music speaks to that concept. You can see the crowd reaction and the flashing lights on their phones. This was a powerfully creative moment. I’m an old fart who got it the first time without scanning the app.
and i was just struck by the cognitive dissonance of the “being in the moment” theme while also asking the audience to download an app on their phones during the show
I’ve seen this on a comment here, but yes Hebron 2021 I would definitely put on a “MUST WATCH” for you guys, even if it isn’t DCI, but high school. Aside from that, reactions to all of the top 12 corps from you guys would be so awesome, and all those would be “MUST WATCHES” as well!!
I was at the very (very) top and each night there were people around me trying and failing to scan the QR code ha ha. I already had the app downloaded so it was okay. Also, the app stopped working halfway through. Very, very cool in concept, even if a little rough in execution, in my opinion!! The show grew on me each night-it's quite joyous compared to some others. :)
@@Iplayquad it interacts with the show. At the beginning when the recording says “scanning phones for everyone’s favorite song” it’ll play the song and a video. It gives instructions, like the part in the middle with the snapping. And then it accesses the flashlight, so it’ll flash in sync with the song, which you can kind of see in the finals video when it pans to the crowd. The beginning was fun when it worked! 😅
Their Brass at Finals had the highest score by any brass line since 2015. They really cleaned up, it was difficult, it was intense, it was loud. Everything you could look for. They’ve gotta do more to bring the intensity every night. It’s what ultimately lost them the Ott. (Along with the fact that there were some spots in the show that could’ve been harder)
Great to see another reaction from you guys! Not my favorite Crown show by a long shot (can’t help but miss the old design team), but I still love the corps. Would love to see you guys react to BAC and Troopers!
Nailed it guys......visually it wasn't clean enough to medal by a long shot. The drill to me wasn't executed enough with a several internal issues and alignment issues within the show. Entertaining, yes!! Chops from the Heavens, yes!! Drum line had some issues with timing, cleanliness, and demand........if this corps stays intact for 2023 and not a large chunk of ageists and beef up the show content higher they could win it all next year.
I marched guard in the 80's with Freelancers (83,84). Almost every corps had streamers on rifles and sabres! BD and their wall of rifles with streamers in 76,77,78,79,80 and 81 were are iconic!
React to the Phantom Regiment's show "No Walk Too Far"!!!! I'm the euphonium soloist and would love to hear what you guys have to say on the program! :)
I was in the upper section at finals with the app running. There were maybe 3 or 4 times during the show where it did something. I don’t know if it wasn’t working or if that was all it was supposed to do, but it felt like a whole lot of effort (and probably money) put into not much return. I definitely liked this show more live, but I’ve always felt like it just needed better editing.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on some Cavies championship shows: 2002 - Frameworks, 2006 - Machine, 1995 - The Planets. Also, Bluecoats 2011 - Brave New World!
I really do think they should do it, Hebron was completely unreal, and they have some terrific solo/section/ensemble moments throughout it all. I think it would be pretty awesome to see their reaction!!
@@nickniehaus1763 I honestly didn’t think they could either, but it says a ton when they took it up a notch even from that 2019 year in their playing ability. Just insane!!
For me personally it’s one of my least favorite shows of Crown. I just didn’t connect with the music as much as any other show since 2008. Best uniforms tho, super dope, might try listening more to see if it grows on me
its sad that their show design single handedly held them back imo. They had one of the best ensembles crown has had in a LONG while this year, unfortunately the terrible design obliterated their placements. All that to say, give this exact same ensemble a better show, and they could have a legitimate chance at getting first even. WayyyyyyyyYYYYYYY too much narration and dub over in this show, just to start with.
Show was a ton of fun but yea the drill was never clean unfortunately. I watched the high cam for everyone during semis and it was pretty shocking especially the closer.
the spacing issues were so frustrating. The was a hole that night...but it was the same hole at the start of the season....they had plenty of time to fix that and yet they didn't. The hole wasn't the soloist's' either. I really hated the voice overs...during the performance they chanted "right here right now" 15 times. I would've rather heard the brass instead. Pretty sure the spacing issues played a huge factor in them not medaling. That's just my opinion. It sucks because they're my favorite corps.
This video is groundbreaking because it is one of the very first critiques that pinpoints Crown's lack of depth. This is one of the very first critiques that exposes the weakness of Crown's show which had no subject and theme. In all the professional arts, music is contextualized-- even if it is played in a concert setting. A composition always has some context-- purpose, point of view, social commentary or reference to outside works. But Crown’s compositions here are completely without merit because together, along with the visuals, they make no sense. They have no symbolic value, no reference to a larger subject matter, no higher purpose. And because the music is without context, and without meaning, it devalues the experience. The show is less enjoyable because it’s not smart. It’s not well thought through. The "Let me hear ya!" phone app and the silk tarps are without substance, and it deflates the emotional heft of the show, overall. Eventually, drum corps will evolve to the point where it recognizes that the thematic content of a show is its life blood. The subject matter and theme of a show tie everything together, make it smart, make it authentic, make it emotional, and give the music humanity and universality. Without a thematic context, a drum course show is nothing more than volume and technique. Which, if you think about puts this show on the same level as fast food and Magic Mike.
Crown homer here. Effffffffff the dumb junior high level design. Quit wasting the talent that comes to Charlotte. The content is SO weak. Worst design in top 6! I feel bad for these kids paying all this money and being saddled by a 8th grade level design.
Agree. Their design staff is so desperate for a title that they designed a show that was complete overkill. The sensational brass and guard saved them from 5th or 6th. I hated this show.
I was not a fan of Crown's show. I thought it was corny and too much like a high school band show. Obviously, they have a lot more talent than a high school band, but the show itself did not speak to me. I also found the right here right now to be overkill. They did have a nice hornline as usual though.
Cheesey is an incredibly on the spot comment for this poorly conceived show. Just seemed such a waste of effort trying to figure what was going on through those terrible voice overs, and orange RIP cords tied to the members
I’m not sure i agree with Cheesy comments. If we are going to talk Cheesy that’s pretty much every corps that uses narration or singers in my opinion. Bluecoats for example, cheese fest with the stupid story that just distracted from anything good they were doing. Phantom Regiment wins this year for most actual music played from start to finish. I’d like to see DCI go back in that direction and ditch all the cheese factor.
I Marched Pantom Reginent In 1981. When We Marched, We Didnt Need Speakers And Microphone And Electronics. If You Told Me That Blue Coats Would Have Keytar In 2022 Last Year, I Wouldve Stopped Paying Attention To The Activity ENTIRELY!! If You Bring That Key Tar Player On This Show, You Guys Will Lose All Respect From Me. Dont Do It
