There seems to be a misunderstanding of the word Lassie. It is feminine and means girl. The Scots use the word lass for girl that becomes, in a familiar form,Lassie. The guy says good boy to the dog so it should be called Laddie, or he should say good girl.
(Sigh) The TV program called "Lassie" was billed as a male dog. Several male dogs played the role. Some seem to feel "Lassie" was a female, but if you look at the cast of characters, they were all male. The commercial was obviously playing off the TV program. You are technically correct, but being completely pedantic and missing the point.
No. Just take it up with the producers of the show "Lassie", who I'm sure will be delighted to invent a time machine, roll back time to the 70s and mend their error.
