Bunnies are so cute. Sad that they aren't popular because they are sensitive animals that require lots of care. But if taken care well of it's pretty nice! They're soft, but need their personal space too so no commitment issues involved. Just need to make sure you are giving them the right amount of love.
NO! Rabbits are not supposed to be washed. They don't need it!! And no vet that is qualified to treat a rabbit is going to recommend or say that bathing a rabbit is just fine. People really need to get their facts straight..... Rabbits should not be bathed!!!
im ignorant so i cant contribute to this, but why not? im assuning because it will give it a higher chance of becoming sick but maybe you can answer me in detail
Rabbits aren't like cats and dogs, bathing them can prove fatal if you aren't careful. If you must clean then, then I really would recommenced using a wash cloth over bathing them. It's safer.
+pokedragonS8 My rabbits always liked a bath. It is very important that it would not be a shock for them. You have to go slowly, like with a virgin :-). Startig during the days it is hot outside and use water on their belly first, it is pleasant for them. As you say, careful handling is very important. My third rabbit like to take shower with me and visibly he enjoyed that. After 5 years of his age he started to have problems with diarrhea. I was washing him every day and he was glad when I removed the plug from him. In the wild nature they got wet when it is raining and they do not mind it.
+Albab Jigar Andrabi you can but only under certain special circumstances i was trained in small animal care rabbits , hamsters , mice , chinchilla's , snakes , chickens usually i would not clean a rabbit unless it had a wound that need keeping clean
I have had 5 pet buns...and NEVER BATHED THEM! Dont bathe your bun! This one possibly died...unless house was super warm..but mom sounded worried in this vid. Brush your bun...wash clothe is fine..but straight up hose? No! Screws up hair too...like a cat...dont bathe cats either. I have washed elderly bunnies bumms...they like it...and elders kinda need it..or they will smell. Omg! I miss my bunnies.
gotskinn It's pretty common to bathe your bunny especially when they're really dirty. I had 2 rabbits and bathed them for maybe once a month or when they're really dirty. One time my bunny had diarrhea and he didn't manage to clean himself and of course I had to clean him by giving him a lukewarm bath. It doesn't kill them. He was healthy and happy after that. You just had to dry them fully and carefully. I put them under the sun for at least 5-10 mins after I dry them just to make sure they get their natural body temp back. Did it for more than one year til I had to move into another country and had to leave them. I miss my bunnies too :(
Abhie Hernandez It's not common at all to wash your rabbit. The House Rabbit Society completely disagrees with you. Or any other source of information about rabbits. Stop spreading disinfo.
Rabbits shouldn't be washed at all and they shouldn't be put on their backs. If you want to buy one please educate yourself about how to properly care for rabbits! It's so sad to see them in distress
Calm your tittes.. Rabbits can be bathe just not as much as dogs or cats.. Usually many people bathe their rabbits bum only but sometimes you can bathe the whole rabbit itself.. Probably once a month or two.. They won't die.. Chill.. Don't get your panties in a bunch..
Sakuranightcore Actually, if a rabbit is put into water (even if it's warm water), they could go into shock, and if they're stressed enough, they could die. Rabbits should only be bathed with a damp wash cloth. So yes, she does have a reason to get her 'panties in a bunch'.
I actually happen to know first hand rabbits can be bathed I have a bunny and I've had her for the last 7 years she's not spayed because I was under the impression she was spayed when I got hurt but it turned out she was not and I really don't want to put her through an operation now that she is 7 years old but her hormonal behavior makes her pee then roll around in her pee so she is constantly sticky dirty and stinky she goes and rolls around in her litter box gets shit and piss all over herself every few days and I have to wash her whenever she does it she actually likes to be in the water she just swims around and plays in the water then I take her out rock her in a towel and turn a blow dryer on low and blow dry her and she just lays there and goes to sleep as the warm hair dryer dries her. She's never gone into shock nor has she ever been nervous when in the bathtub I even take my rabbit to parks on a leash and I let her run around she does not run away at all will take her out to the park and play fetch and she will not run away she will come running back she will also follow me around that is my rabbits behavior so I don't see anything wrong with bathing a rabbit my bunny loves it
Ally Gator While it is true that in some cases rabbits are calm enough to handle getting bathed, it is still said to never put your rabbit into water, because they could get hypothermia if not dried off properly. Long story short, I'd trust hundreds of vets and specialists' precautions & advice rather than a regular owner who thinks they know best. Just because your bun likes it does not mean that every other bun is the same as yours, and for most of them it is very dangerous.
kawaii_whale/kawaii.looms/kawaiiperlers While its best not to bath rabbits, sometimes it is unavoidable especially if you have a bunny that gets a bit overweight and is unable to clean his bottom.. Having had 6 house rabbits, and two that are currently 8 years old, I think I know what I'm talking about. However, the key is to hand dry the bunny thoroughly. Sometimes I would wrap the bunny in towels, and hold him for 10 or 15 minutes while he dries. (Your body heat will keep him warm.) I would then get him fairly dry using a blow dryer set on its lowest setting while moving the blow dryer constantly making sure the heat don't bother the bunny's sensitive skin. I then usually keep the bunny in a small room equipped with a heater for about 4 more hours until the rabbit is dry. Rabbits will also get rid of a lot of moisture when they groom themselves so don't overdue it with the blow dryer. Just be sure you keep the rabbit in a small room with a heater until he is good and dry.
2:03 That rabbit was unexpectedly larger than that cat. It just looks strange to me, though I know that there are a lot of giant rabbit breeds out there.
Do NOT bathe your bunnies! Bunnies go into shock really really easily and can die or go into a coma when in shock! If your bunny needs a bath, get a warm damp rag and wipe down their dirty areas. In the wild, bunnies do not do anything with water other than drink it. They are very good at bathing themselves and do not need baths! Please please please do not ever bathe your rabbit with running water or in a sink/tub with water
@@mpownerofbobthecat2646 Yeah, we give animals too credit honestly, and they suffer immensely in the wild due to it. There are a lot of nasty things you can wash off a rabbit (fleas, dust mites, etc.) via a responsible bath that will make their life easier.
I shall not repeat their unspeakable evilness. But if you want to know what they're capable of just look at this documentary video. /watch?v=B8QaslKkRzQ
SO CUTE!! I am lucky enough to have 9 rabbits (2 adult females, 7 almost 2 months) and I love seeing them everyday. I am only keeping one of the babies and giving the other 6 in pairs to friends so they don't get lonely, but I will miss them so much! The good thing is they are all going to great homes with big cages and are able to still come over and see their mum & eachother once in a while. The experience of raising them was great, although there were originally 8 babies. Losing the runt was tragic, I orginally saved it's life and it was going well until an accident occurred. Although this was my first time breeding, (actually an accidental pregnancy for the rabbit) you must do a lot of research. These babies have a great life ahead of them but that isn't always the case if you are just willing to breed rabbits for cuteness or money. It takes a lot of work, but is extremely awarding.
I know this video is old, but oml. I can’t watch one single cute rabbit compilation without there being bunnies being submerged in water or tranced on their backs.
Pretty sure you dont need to bathe rabbits. Ive had mine for almost 3 years now. Never bathed him and even though he digs and gets quite mucky running about sometimes, he always looks/smells clean.
Actually, believe it or not, cats are less dangerous for rabbits than dogs, especially big dogs. Rabbits are likely to die from heart attack in front of a big dog than in front of a cat, which is smaller.
OK EVERYONE, I UNDERSTAND. PUPPIES, KITTIES, AND BUNNIES CAN ALL LIVE HAPPILY TOGETHER IN A FLIPP'N CANDYLAND OF TICKLE-PARTTIES! Just please stop messaging me about it.
I have just been infected with Acute Bunnulosis and am now irreversibly happy and calm. The World Health Organisation have declared it an epidemic and are handing out more pictures of bunnies as we speak.
Awww I can't wait to get our bunny! In a month! First time owning one in 28 years but I'm doing my research to learn about them! I'll be the best bunny mom I can be!
He's actually pretending to be dead because he thinks it was a predator eating him. He's not asking for more petting, don't think its behaviour is like a dog's; he's scared. So yeah, be glad your bunny doesn't do that, nothing cute about that part of the vid...
They won't die from bathes, but other factors like the temperature or having no traction for him to stand on whilst bathing or the water level being too high. Bunny rabbits are self groomers so they don't really need bathes/showers--unless they are sick or cannot reach the area like there bums and behind.
Bunnies should not be bathed! They can go into shock and in some cases may die. Rabbits clean themselves a lot and if your rabbit is very filthy wipe down their problem areas. Please don't bathe you rabbits , its very dangerous.
My rabbit history is: Flora, an adorable white rabbit who loved getting and giving fuss. She was a Christmas present to the entire family, however she was put to sleep a year after we got her. She had problems with her bottom and I believe she had some type of cancer. Feargle was her company, we still have him. He's a white mini lop with a few black markings. He loves being fussed. Lulu was Feargle's company, however we believe she died of bloat. Daisy is still alive, she's cute and curious. She has a bat like marking around her nose. I will never forget them and I will always love my rabbits. :3
Calm down guys. Baby rabbits do need to be bathed. Rabbits are self cleaning, yes, same as cats - but they clean their own young. So when a kitten or baby bunny gets dirty or have diarrhea etc, they will need a bath because they don't have a mother to do it for them and haven't started doing it properly themselves yet. With older rabbits, its ok to fill a very shallow bath and let them clean themselves in it. Some really like the cold water in the really hot countries. It gets up to 40+ degrees Celcius in my city and many rodents die if not given access to cold water. (I'm a foster mum for orphaned domestic animals)
Rat Witch We would bath our rabbits at least 1 time a year but it would be in the Hot summer time and we would use a bucket to bath them but We never had them submerged above the neck. They were fine.
This can be extremely traumatic for a rabbit and can put them into shock; many rabbits have died from this kind of trauma. While you may have heard of rabbits who like to swim, most rabbits do not tolerate being submerged in water, and the shock of it can be deadly.
OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I HAVE A BABY BUNNY HER NAMES LULU SHES ONLY 7 WEEKS OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHES ADORABLE I ALSO HAVE AN ADULT BUNNY NAMED COCO AND A 2 YEAR OLD BIRD BUDGIE!!!!!!!!!!!=))000000000000000000000000000OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Actually a rabbit doesn't NEED a partner but only if it's an indoor pet and gets a lot of love and attention otherwise it probably would prefer a friend cause they get depressed when bored
My rabbit HATES OTHER RABBITS by hate I mean hate. I have to give mine baths every now and then cause she has a problem with pooping so it all gets stuck to her bum. So I have to give her a bath so she doesn't get a infection :) I vets told me to do it when every I need to cause on sometimes I can take a washcloth or something and wash it but sometimes it can get really bad
Slybunny Loo If ur bunny is a female and hates males its a other thing (or male dont like female) u cant do anything about that, but isnt it enough if you take a handtowel make it wet and swipe ur bunny clean ? I had that problem too (not that extreme) and i solved the problem like this
Yes I can if I catch it early but sometimes I don't so I have to give her a little bath but I don't clean her whole body only her bum. And no I had a female bunny Tidbit and they didn't get alone. And I don't know about the male she has never been with one :)
PLEASE DO NOT BATHE YOUR BUNNY!! DO NOT PUT IT IN WATER AT ALL! THEY WILL DIE OF HYPOTHERMIA. ALSO do not put your rabbit on its back. They may seem cute and calm but they are actually extremely stressed.
ive never commented on a you tube video in my life, but i feel the need to explicitly support my fellow bunny loving friends! my girls athena and nykie are 8 years old and going strong!
A Random Troll In The Comments a baby carrot in half is a good treat for like nail clipping bc it calms a bun down and lets them focus on something else, and it lets them know that if they behave and let you trim their, they can get a treat. Really any treat is fine, but if you have buns like mine who never sit still, and dread getting their nails trimmed, a little carrot goes a long way. NEVER A BIG HUGE CARROT THO i agree. Just little baby carrots
+Xam Chowdhury ...what's your point? That has very little to do with what I said at all. I wasn't even talking to him. I was talking to the guy who was talking to him.
+Margot Summerson I was just letting you know that Chirag isn't a Muslim probably and he is making fun of Muslims for getting offended for no apparent reason
