I love that our hobby now has its only “Bob Ross”. These videos are what I dream of when our Acro finally takes off in our new tank. Your approach reminds me of bonsai, thanks for the great content!
Always great to see someone in reefing providing good reefing husbandry/proper maintenance to the life we grow out.. Excellent tank displays.. Great video like always 👍🏼👍🏻✌🏼👍🏻
Hi from Australia. I knew Dallas Warren, who that green acro is named for. He was a member of our reef club MASOV, many, many years ago. That particular coral, came into the hobby waaayyy back in about 1997. Dallas propagated it and gave pieces away and eventually pretty much everyone in the country had a piece. It is so hardy, people say it would grow in the toilet. It's also a very fast grower. I wonder if Dallas knows that it has crossed the Pacific into the US? Probably not, as he's no longer in the hobby.
Really love the SOLID pink stylos you have. I had one in an older tank and have not been able to find another one. Leave it to you Jake to have some squirreled away ;)
love the commentary of what you are thinking as you're placing the corals - really shows how much knowledge you have and how much you care about your tanks
Thank you for covering this topic. When I started researching this hobby, I saw a lot of reference to trimming corals. But, I found it hard to find video showing the process. This gets far more complicated as different species grow differently. I appreciate both seeing the coral colonies growing out and showing their growth forms, and then seeing how you trim them. If a picture is worth a thousand words, video's are priceless. And I learn a ton watching this process.
Very nice Jake! It is very rewarding to see your progress. Been almost 2 years since I restarted my tank and my test corals have exploded. Unfortunately there was some aptasia in the chaeto I got and it is all over the tank now. I have to fix that issue before I can add more corals.
Man when you can butcher a $150-$250 or so mini sps colony just cause its in the way or doesn't do it for the eye appeal, your in a great place in the hobby 😆 thats where I wanna be right there lol Love the videos brother keep em coming, Corals look amazing as always!!!
That big chalice you have on the end of the tank catches my eye every time you pan past it. I think it’s a rajah rampage? Whatever it is, it’s looking awesome! Great work
As an Australian with a lot of experience with the Dallas it will in crust, very quickly since I have had a whole frag racks of 20 frags turn into one solid colony
Man you and evan have been very busy. With all the tank maintenance and putting out alot of videos. Absolutely love your tanks and videos keep up the AWESOME work.
Hey. Just wanted to say I recently watched one of your videos and I immediately went and bought a tank kit. I believe it was a nano reef tank video. I just tonight went an bought a fluval evo 5. Never have had a salt water tank before. My very first. Any tips or comments would be much appreciated! Wanting to put live rock in and get some zoanthid. With a clown fish, cleaner shrimp and some snails. Can you have any crabs with coral? Or will they eat it? Thanks!
How you ever had a UV effect skimmer recently added a UV skimmer not producing foam? This is my first time running UV skimmer work flawlessly before install.
Those coral flats and tanks are stuffed. Time to do some massive fragging, give aways, start distributing this stuff to your subscribers and reef hobbyists. Just setting up now my 10th tank. What will be an anemone tank. An Innovative Marine Nuvo Fusion 10.
Using a lot of the reefing easy ideas you and mark have put out there. Keep up the reefing therapy and the RU-vid videos. I’m going to see with minimal intervention whether this new tank can run with basic basic stuff and principals. I’ve got at least 1 out of my 8 or 9 ultra rainbow RBT to move to this. Might add a clam or two and some rock flowers. Maybe set up a few small island rocks to move things in and out and grow them. Utter chaos and magician zoas, and variety of other named ones. Micromussa lourdhouensis, bowerbanki, small toadstools. Any other suggestions for things that may require the minimal amount of care? Just the good flow and lighting.
Love your videos as always. Appreciate you and all that you share. I do have one question. I remember you had a cube tank at your home with some beautiful mushrooms in it an I think they were ricordia yumas. What ever happened with those corals and I notice that you don’t have or just haven’t seen any in your new location. I’m sure you have a reason for not having them because I remember you commenting in one of your videos how you liked the coral. I love ricordia’s and yumas and know they can be funny at times, but I was just courious.
I don't remember having rics in the old tank but I did and still have the rock which had a few nice Rhodactis, putting them in their own tank today in fact.
U know I feel for all u reefers that take time and go thru the hassle of making and posting content for us to watch. Super cool and appreciate it very much! Please don’t stop. But, I’m so sick of seeing thumbs down on these videos. What’s not to like ass?!! Go tend your perfect life that no cares about, and probably not even you because u hate yourself to come on here and bash. Lift people up and support or don’t bother cause your trolling doesn’t support anything but your sick mind freak show!!….
