The CGI really threw me off. I thought it looked bad compared to the last one. A big part of the first one was the visuals and this one seems to not capture that aesthetic based on the trailer.
What makes Fury Road such a blast to watch over and over again, is that is has no dull moments. Even in the scenes where the actions slows down, the mood of those scenes keeps me invested. I just hope this movie can do this again. Keep me on the edge of my seat from beginning til end.
Bottom management girl has her journey to position occupied by white male 😂 I think George has very little to decision process in this production. Girl look just like average 30+ corpo bitch but without lose pants and old lady suit.
@@KnightWolfGaming-uw6tv one of the main reasons it didn’t get enough attention was because Arkham Knight came out around the same time, I believe. The funny thing is they’re both from WB Games.
Fury Road was a masterpiece, so this would scratch that action movie in a wasteland itch. I just hope that it would open up to hopefully another movie bringing back Max Rockatansky and the V8 Interceptor at least one more time.
We do it’s already been announced, Mad Max- The Wasteland. It’s the next movie after this one, we don’t know if it’s a prequel or sequel after Fury Road for Max. Tom Hardy is reprising his role as Max of course.
Mad max movies arent connected dog probably will be another random max story its just have it is they dont worry about continuity only this furiosa movie will cause its not max.@@ohgryph
I'm one of the few people in this world who thinks the last movie wasn't that good. It should have never been made without Mel Gibson. I'm a purist until the end.
Contrary to what a lot of people think there was a lot of CGI in fury road but it was mostly for the background and it was pretty much seemless. In this trailer for some of the shots I agree it was obvious that there was CGI but I hope by the time it comes out the whole thing is polished.
Right! People seem to forget the film is still shooting. Obviously they will polish everything in post. Also,Miller has said these films are filmed in a way to represent a surreal, hallucinating, fever-dream, and the cinematography, the cgi, the changes in frame rate during the action scenes, all are meant to convey that.
Ya, they probably rushed this trailer out because of the lawsuit that pushed the film back. I hope that doesn't affect the end product, but Miller is a great director so I'm still excited for this.
Conspiracy theory: Anya Taylor-Joy is an Alien Human hybrid created by the ones called the Greys. Large almond slanted eyes that are distanced from each other. I'm an Optician, I'd say her pupilary distance (pd) is 70 mm. The average pd for a woman her size is between 63 & 66.
Meh. I rather have a Mad Max movie than Furiosa. I liked her in Fury Road. I just dont realy care to know her prequel. Like Alex said. We already know what happens to her so. To me it dosnt matter overall.
To me, Charlize really embodied the role, don't think I can watch anyone else play Furiosa. There's just something about Charlize that gives off badass/tough vibes.
i agree, but my celebrity crush on ATJ makes me think it can be shared and i want to really watch her rock this...if we can have multiple actors play James Bond and Max, well, why not? still, if it has a ton of cars in it, i'll go so far as to even pay retail for the DVD.
I love that the first thing I said when I saw this trailer was "Why does everything look kind of fake" and then I saw theses guys review and they were like "why is it all cgi" that answers my question.
It’s not done yet though. I have a colleague of mine who works in the industry whose done some post work. It’s normal for them to release footage that’s a little rough as it all gets polished in post.
I wouldn't necessarily think that, though. Everyone thought the first Fury Road trailer was a CGI fest too, because it was all so ridiculous looking with such a stylized filter. Yet, almost all of the stuff that people thought was fake was done in camera on real vehicles, and it played great in the film itself.
Usually when I see something and then they react to stuff they usually have different opinions than me so I was just shocked that they said the same thing as I did for once@@BlazingOwnager
Furiosa did HORRIBLE things to others to survive under Immorten. Fury Road was the END of her redemption arc. If this is an origin story, at some point, she'll have to be EVIL at some point. I HOPE they show that, as this arc would be far more interesting. NO MARY SUE.
Some people (don't read the other comments) don't think Mad Max is in Fury Road enough, and others think this prequel movie is going to be a woke agenda film... even though George Miller made it and has been planning it for over a decade now. People are dumb.
@cornbredx can you blame them though? Every time they make a pre/sequel to an IP with a male lead the last decade somehow they race or genderswap the male role. Or such as Indiana Jones, just make the male character a moron with a "strong female character" mary sue save his ass and show off the whole film I think this is not gonna be that. However we have learned over the years that if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, I'm gonna assume the risk of it being a duck.
@@cornbredxright. In fact Furiosa and the third film The Wasteland was already drafted when Fury Road was filming. That was 9 years before the whole woke bs started.
@@maskedman5657 You guessed wrong. It’s perfectly possible to write good female characters. The common trend in Hollywood is to take an established, well loved male character, and emasculate him as much as possible, while introducing a female character who is better than him in every way at everything that he is good at, while she rubs it in his (or the audience’) face. That is NOT the way to write good female characters. If it is reasonable to make predictions from trends, you should expect to see that very thing in this one.
For me “Mad Max: Fury Road.” Was the definition of epic. Great Action film, with so many layers and complex, characters, and the story. Man I still love that film to this day. And i can’t wait to see this prequel and it looks great. Even if it turns out bad. Anya Taylor Joy is gonna do a great job in the role as Furiosa, and Chris Hemsworth is especially gonna nail it as the main villain.
I’m kinda confused on why there doing a furry road prequel when the last one rapped things up pretty well and was overall satisfying. I was hoping they might do a different adventure in a different area of the mad max world.
Certain groups in Hollywood saw Furiosa's Backstory in Fury Road and was like 'yes this is perfect for us and it fits our theme so let's make a movie about her'.
What is with Joe and his 100% inability to say an actor or movie or videogame's name correctly? It shows her name in the screen 10 times and he still says "Anna" over and over again. He does this literally in any video you watch. If he says the name of anything or anyone, he forks it up! 100%
LOL if you guys forget, the practical shooting of Fury Road was a hell of a difficult thing. Charlise might have legitimately passed on the role this time around.
I’m looking forward to seeing Immorton Joe in his prime. Let’s see the reasons why and how he was able to build an empire and become the villain in Fury Road.
Why should we get a Mad MAX movie when we can have some random out of nowhere stories? Remember - Max is a dude. Why should he be important in the franchise named after him? 😂
Good one mate! Ana is better cast playing chess against the Ruskies, yup - she can't hold a candle to Charlize! (kinda like casting Lawrence to play Mystique 🙄- no one can ever fill Rebecca's bod suit! ;). Also, having a token Aussie in it won't save the show, even if he and his fanboys think he's a god. He's not, he's just a very naughty boy (from Home and Away ;).
Well according to George Miller scripts of the mad max game and fury road concept, there was The Wasteland Wars between Dr Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) and Immortan Joe's war boys. So your looking at the start of the wasteland wars. I recommend going to Mad Max Bible channel for more information
every time i see these new trailers it doesnt seem like a trailer for a cool new movie, it seems like a bunch of desperate actors/directors/vfxpeople/and other film people desperate to stay employed, with no good stories to tell, using every trick in the book to hook you in, and manipulate you into watching a load of 'mystery box'/waste of time/pointless junk. dont make a movie unless you have a good story to tell, or a cool cinematic experience to take us on. good cinema and good stories are worshipped for...generations.
I disagree. There are SO many awesome characters in these movies. Mad Max is actually the least interesting one of the whole bunch. I would KILL to see a prequel for Tina Turner's Aunty Entity and how she went from nothing to being a Hero against the warlord Master Blaster and became the ruler of Bartertown then to ruthless tyrant. That would be some Darth Vader level story.
@@HeadCannonPrimei agree, most people don't seem to realize that the only time Max was the main character and central part of the story was the first one, and no one cares about that one (I do though), the road warrior was mainly about the town and gyro captain, and thunderdome about the kids, sure he was there and he was awesome and badass but he wasn't interesting and most of the time just was a decoy
So this is a direct prequel to the original fury road, my only complaint is why. And why couldn’t we just enter a whole new storyline instead of taking previously known characters and building the past
she looks great as a young Furiosa... I typically hate when they swap actors like this, but she's close enough and with enough of a time difference I don't think it'll be a distraction.
She is also a really good actress who has proved she had very good range, so I am positive she will do great. A bit more worries on Chris Hemsworth’s side of things
Not Mad Max ... Hemsworth is box office kryptonite every time he's in girl power projects ... the last thor movie, female Ghostbusters, and the mib movie he did . Fury road at least had Mad Max in it even though they made him furiosas sidekick. Pass
4:53 "It was all practical" in relation to CGI in Fury Road. Uhhh, that movie was mostly CGI. It had a ton of practical stuff but on top of it there was loooots of CGI.
Does anyone remember that a lot of shots in Fury Road LOOKED like CGI but turned out to be practical? This looks absolutely beautiful to my eye, and I’m not nearly as concerned about the use of CGI as everyone else seems to be.
I don't remember that because it never happened. The stunts always looked real because they were real. The stunts don't look real here because they're all done in a green screen room with CGI.
@@Jarekx2007you are wrong. You heard somewhere that the movie used mostly practical effects and you chose to remember the film looking a certain way and being 100% practical. It wasn't. Every citadel scene was entirely cgi, alot of explosions were both real and fake. Most giant groups of vehicles were cgi and all the mounteous rock and canyons were all cgi. It was just pact with some practical stunts though. The cgi in these movies are very hyper real and have fever dream asthetic which is intentional. The high contrast colors and the change in framerate in fury road. All of it was very stylized.
@@toddhoward1133 You're the one who's wrong lmfao. You need to watch some behind the scenes and educate yourself. Yeah, the backdrops are fake, but that's irrelevant. The stunts were real. Why do you think the shoot was one of the hardest ever done? Lmfao. Witness me guy jumping off the truck? Literally happened. Dudes swinging back and forth on cars? Literally happened. Max blowing up the fuel truck? Literally blew up the truck and edited in the REAL CARS THEY DROVE AROUND IN later. Iconic ending crash? LITERALLY HAPPENED WITH HIGH SPEED CAMERAS. In fact, George even said the transition CGI almost ruined the shot by looking too fake.
Im holding off reservation on the visuals, considering going back to the Fury Road trailers shows quite a stark contrast between shots we were shown vs the final film.
Im interested to see it since when they were filming, outback australia was greener than it had been in years.... i guess they will colour grade everything red ;)
Here are the facts sadly The only thing you care about in this movie is how she lost her arm Men want another mad Max they don't give a shit about furiosa she's not a compelling character Women will not flock to see this just because it's a female lead mad Max It will not change or evolve anything that comes after it It will be as thrilling as if a side character from Pearl had their own movie After viewing the movie everyone will ask the same question, who was this for? It will not
But the CGI was used to enhance the scenes. Like all the stunts, and explosions were practical but shot separately and composited together. They shot on location in a real desert but replaced the backgrounds with mountains and then added the color grade. But here, the background looks like green screen shot in a studio and that shot of the monster truck looks like a CGI truck rather than a real practically built vehicle. And when she goes under the truck it looks like the truck is CGI. Obviously for safety they won't put her under a real moving truck but they could've still built a practical set and shot outside for realistic lighting and just CG the movement.
@@VincentStevenStudio Trailers released this far ahead don't show us the final product normally. CGI touch ups for big movies are being done up until like the day before.
As soon as a saw Chris Hemsworth in any trailer I know the movie will suck, especially after Men in Black, Ghostbusters, and Thor Love and Thunder. The big nose thing it´s so dumb, it reminds me so much of Kevin from Ghostbuster. The Plot: Super Mario´s Pitch but in Mad Max.
People really do throw the word "Masterpiece" around way too much these days. I felt nothing when watching Fury Road. Was the action good? Yes. Was Charlize Theron. good in it? Yes. Did I cry, laugh, feel scared or tense, or care if anyone died? No. Was the story good? No.
the thing about the division over Fury Road--and Thunderdome for that matter--is the first two movies had that limited budget 1970's feel of a classic "muscle cars and mayhem" grindhouse theatre movie. you the viewer were amazed how much George Miller put into background character development when you thought you were watching just another "make money make another movie" project. Mad Max wasn't just another revenge flick, it was about a man trying not to lose his soul as "so long as the paperwork's clean, you boys can do what you want out there"--he wanted to do a good job without turning into "one of the crazies out there". the movies to follow got the budgets to do CGI and one up each other in "apocalypsepunk" tech. we're no longer surprised to see a world like the Road Warrior showed us, so now new heights have to be reached. Thunderdome unfortunately tried to tell two different stories (allegedly the latter story was NOT the flea-plane pilot being where the gyro captain ended up), but Fury Road was A Big U Turn (oh, excuse me, a long series of stunts) with a plot attached. Hopefully this movie will tie up the entire back story of Furiosa and Immortal Joe and the Green Place.
Fury Road was one of my favorite movies of all time. I love Anya, but she doesn’t have the action presence of Charlize. I’ll see it, but I don’t expect it to be better or on the same level.
Well they announced this almost right after the last one so it was planned I just think the studio wants it to go away from the practical effects that's my theory
I've been a long time subscriber. Things have taken a bit of a turn in the last year or so. I don't know if new elements to reach further into the algorithm or subscribers have done this but it's something.
Why is the sky and land look so clean? This is a setting of Post Apocalyptic events where smoke and dust covers everything. Yet the sky is pristine blue with fluffy white clouds then they show a scene of them running through green forests and I'm like hold up she looks like shes in her early 20s Mad Max was in his 30s or more in the early joints and the world was destroyed so how old is Furiosa in Fury Road?
What you see here is Virtual production LED screens in action. There is a trend going on where everything is shot on them now and if is overused it looks BAD. These create those soft cheap shadows and low exposure background that look like a bad green-screen replacement. In this trailer many shots are a catastrophe for anyone with a bit of experience in vfx. Looks awful but i hope they will try and fix them a bit. The problem is that is not much you can correct with LED volumes. This will never be close to Fury Road vfx wise.
I guess Alex would be surprised by just how much CGI was in Fury Road. But the first trailer of that movie also had some dodgy CGI that was cleaned up in the final cut,, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt that it won't look like Sucker Punch in the desert.
Maybe they're doing more cgi this time because the first movie was such a nightmare to record where many people also got injured. Miller himself said he never want to this again
got nothing to do with Max Rockatansky, so why name it a Mad Max Saga? Nothing for me... really...glad for them if its okay, but I pass here. Not feeling this.
I think people are divided on it because even the writers admitted the role in the story was originally written for Mel Gibson so when we get a new actor in who is in his 30's its very odd where everyone else from before the apocalypse is super old but Max isn't.
They use the same filters and color grading (with occasional CGI clouds etc) as in Fury Road, doofuses, there is no difference in this or the basic driving and stunts obviously being practical. And in both cases it's a fitting mythological style.
So the next one with Max in it is a prequel? Sounds like then these movies are all being based off of a set of George Miller approved comics that were released during the time of Fury Road. One told the story Furiosa, Another of Immortan Joe, and the other of Max and how he got his car back right before it gets taken in Fury Road. So I wonder if that's what this current movie is, and what the next one will be with Max.
