Watched this movie yesterday and the emotion I feel the most is SATISFACTION. Seeing a guy who had to crash his own car to make a movie in 1979 finally getting a supermassive budget to indulge in his broadest visions.Every artist's dream.
The fact that this movie was directed by an almost 80 year old man who also had Happy Feet and Babe in his filmography is insane. George Miller is a true artist and his versatility deserves so much appreciation
Second watch of Furiosa was much better than the first. Once I accepted that this wasn’t just Fury Road 2, it’s a solid flick. Let’s also appreciate that George Miller is making original blockbuster content in 2024 on his own terms.
No, it's not. Furiosa got worse on it's second viewing. The stupidity magnified, and the bad cgi looked worse. George Miller should never have made Furiosa.
My biggest gripe with the movie is how clean everything is. Like vehicles are almost cromed. Been to a desert and sand literally gets everywhere. It chips and scratches surfaces. Like damn my car has more bumps, scratches and rust than the movie cars combined. I do prefer heavily the Fury road's grungy and dirty feel.
Furiosa is SOOOOOOOOO Underrated. It started off with that underwhelming trailer after which everyone was just skeptical. But the movie in itself did the Madmax Saga the most justice. A proper revenge story with action set pieces unmatched by any movie.
Flop is a strong word. Many classics today started their life as 'flops'! Shawshank Redemption, Blade Runner, The Big Lebowski, Fight Club amongst many 'bombed' at the box office
@@originalsusser wrong. Those are not similar. Those are not sequels / prequels. Those did not forget their audience and fail to deliver what fans wanted.
It's rare to see a franchise being that has been alive for decades and it's so far being handled by one director. I honestly don't know how the franchise could go if George Miller someday passed away. I couldn't imagine a Mad Max movie without Miller and that shows how special Miller is as an artist when no one could really replicate his style and success with this franchise. Sad that this flopped at the box office, then again so was Mad Max Fury Road so no surprise right there
May have been expectations of what was done to Star Wars being done to this movie. I've heard that this one is better than the one with charleze theron.
Since the story is told like a mythology, I love how most of the shot looks like a painting The dramatic lighting aline especially on Furiosa's eyes is *chef's kiss*
It was so much fun. The visuals were lacking a lot of the color and extreme spectacle of Fury Road. I loved it for for its own sake and i respect it so much for the wild stunts and action. Its just very different.
I think the visual style of the movie send the wrong message to the audience who watched the trailer. The scenes looks too clean and CGI , so they thought the movie won't be as good as the previous one.
The actress who played Furiosa's mother deserves a huge credit. This was her first ever blockbuster movie, she mostly came from a modelling background instead of acting and wow i'm so impressed by her talent in the movie. So happy that George Miller didn't used her just for a pretty face image, he actually gave them cool characters to work with just like he did with Immortan Joe's wives in Fury Road. I just love how random Miller's casting choices often are by taking some random models and turned them into something pretty awesome in movies, take notes Michael Bay! 🤷
Excited to see how George Miller continues to push boundaries. Anya Taylor-Joy's transformation into Furiosa is captivating - her range and determination are qualities I look for in leading ladies.
Listening about "elevation" makes me wanna cry and laugh at the same time. As Furiousa is a perfect exeample of flopping off all the mastery, awe and beauty of the Fury road
This movie was great, I loved fury road and have not seen the originals. This movie made the world come alive for me it showed the constant brutal war of the wasteland and the politics and logic behind how these factions operate and I loved seeing the brutal horrible leaders it was awesome, plus so many sick outfits sick guns and sick ass Harley Davidsons!
No, it didn't. Fury Road didn't need a back story. The mystique of the 'implied back story' works much better. Why did Furiosa even have to put "Coming up next" shots in the end credits? It takes away from the impact of Fury Road. Furiosa may work as a new franchise on its own for those unfamiliar with Max's world, but for those already steeped in the lore, Furiosa is just jarring.
Hi StudioBinder, can you make on bitrate, bit depth, pixels , resolution, codecs, containers and formats. Mostly about the technical part of the films and file storages and compression everything. Like ultimate guide.THANK YOU

Great film, I've watched it thrice. Most fims aren't doing so well lately, not just Furiosa. Probably people have become addicted to shortform content on tiktok and the rest
I think because we have so much content to choose from new releases everyday so much going on its tire ting sametimes we don't even appreciate the hard work miller did and the hard firght he had to make these movies...
Those that complain it looked too fake have to remember Fury Road was filmed in Namibia and Furiosa was filmed in Broken Hill. So, they had no choice but to digitally make the later look like the former.
They also relied too much on cgi in certain shots, in the first one it was primarily used in the background (except the fire tornado)where here you could tell it took center stage in some scenes, story was great but it doesn't hold a candle to the world fury road
@@martingasiewski9170 you gotta remember though that Fury Road was mostly a chase sequence, the whole setting was basically several vehicles in a sand-swallowed desert, while Furiosa takes place in all sorts of locations like Gas Town, so while its noticeable, its understandable in my opinion
I mad it seems that they didn't actually had MAD women writers... women that know why women could be mad to really strengthen this story and cinematography was just chaotic.
I really do think that Fury Road looks a lot better than Furiosa. Because even though the whole story and setting is quite unreal Fury Road was shot and CGI:ed to look real, while Furiosa looks way ore fake with badly lit greenscreen and badly composited shots. The CGI was bad at times as well, and despite what George Miller says they did defy the laws of physics at times and I didn't like it at all. I do also think that the story and pacing in Furiosa wasn't nearly as good as in Fury Road. Though I did very much like lots of the characters in Furiosa, especially Dementus, he was such a great and well executed character! That alone made the whole movie watchable for me. So not all bad, just wasn't as good as Fury Road which is one of the greatest action movies of all time imo, so just hard to beat I guess :)
I actually went to the cinema for this. It was epic. For my age group as a 4 year old watching the first one, growing up with Mad Max and Bond movies and being around passionate greasemonkeys. This is a relief from the all too frequent 'Dumb Teen' films about at the mo. Highly recommend to see it in a cinema with your seats vibrating. Only problem is that most of us are skint or too depressed drinking our lives away to get the movies kicking again. George, you are mega!
Yeah, I’m letting it out. Two of the greatest movies I’ve seen in 2024 just so happens to be set in a desert-like setting. This and Dune: Part Two. George Miller cooked once again, and Mad Max is still one of my personal favorite action franchises. ❤️
I've been working in previz for almost 20 years. Nothing they did in terms of previz or vfx is new or innovative, but it's cool to see it being featured as an integral part of modern filmmaking.
Crazy in that anyone would think a teeny weeny chick could be an action hero. I've cleaned up and rendered care to women like that irl on calls running them to trauma centers as a FDNY Paramedic. It doesn't work out irl, like the movies... just saying.
@@StudioBinder Is your heart warmed when you get a notification (like I did on this one) but your response was censored so you can't see it or somethin'? Why would I get a notification for you're response to this if I hadn't commented on this thread? I call shenanigans.
any feel like this film is too much like a cartoon with all the special effects ? and having different actors with the same characters is off putting ?
This gave me a great sense of how they shot Furiosa, but the title alludes that it was going to do compare those techniques to those of Fury Road. That only happens sporadically. There's very little mention of how like Fury Road tried to center all the action in the frame, and what that means here.
It’s a shame they didn’t go for ‘The Wasteland’ (Millers other MM project) and make another main story movie. Furiosa was excellent but failed to capture audiences outside the Mad Max fan base, a base that I suspect was not overly enthused to have a backstory movie about a side character played by a completely different actress. Understandable why they cast ATJ because of age, but I will never understand why they didn’t continue the success of Hardy as Max with another film instead. He’s not getting any younger either…
@@officerk5271 “A supporting character is a character in a narrative that is not the focus of the primary storyline, but is important to the plot/protagonist, and appears or is mentioned in the story enough to be more than just a minor character or a cameo appearance.” She is by definition a side character. That’s why at the end of the movie they both go their separate ways. The title of the franchise gives a clue to who the main character is as well.
@@conorknapp6764 now you are saying she is a supporting character, which is a lot more prominent than a side character. A side character is someone like Slit or Nux. The theme of the Mad Max movies since Road Warrior is that Max is not alone in his suffering and that he needs to live for something bigger than himself. As such, in Road Warrior the villagers are the true heroes because it’s their struggle and Max is just there to help. Hell, Furiosa even gets the big emotional scene in Fury Road when she learns the green place has been destroyed. So yeah, she’s more of the main character than Max is.
@@officerk5271 side character and supporting character are the same thing. You just find the term side character more offensive. You can have side/supporting characters which are important by a matter of degrees. Han Solo is a side/supporting character, but so is Lando Calrissian.
@@conorknapp6764 no one else is offended but you. I have made no attempts to come across like I’m accosting you. I’m just expressing my view point. But side characters and supporting characters are definitely different. There are difference between the role Han Solo plays in Star Wars vs someone like Greedo.
Furiosa is great movie ! If you haven't seen it in theater, you failed to see it as Fury Road successor. I hope the movie gets a second life on blue ray and streaming.
This is super cool, but can you maybe do some "How they shot it?" closer to our reality? I'm sure people like George Miller, who has a 200 M budget, are not looking for how-tos on RU-vid. We're more into small-budget indie films.
That's a great idea. We are often attracted to the "impossible" movies like this but it would be helpful to focus on lower budget productions. Fear not! We have a series coming soon that is wholly dedicated to low budgets.
Oh please, Furiosa is nowhere close to Fury Road, which was legit brilliant!! They can’t be serious in calling it a masterpiece. Who watching this agrees?
Thank you!! I absolutely HATED this film, it was boring and pretentious and dumb, a complete waste of time - it's staggering how well it's been received. What the hell was Chris Hemsworth thinking? Such a snooze. Fury Road was a masterpiece
The fact that miller wanted to tell this story before fury road not because he wanted to show off a feminist message but because he wanted to tell a story in his universe just showcase that theres still people who want to tell good movie regarless of gender. And people should shut up o whatever politics want or don't want to see in movies. I think if furiosa was a male nobody will see the film anyway because A) mad max isn't that mainstream of a franchise, hell fury road was beated by pitch perfect 2 when it first came out. B) they are more busy shitting on Disney than in actually watching good films and shows.
I think there's a bigger lesson here. The film lost $20 to $40 million and hasn't grossed more than $50 million domestically. Is that because the film was cold and more computer driven than the last? The story was definitely not as fleshed out and casting seemed to be lacking in comparison to other movies. Could it be because a Mad Max movie that didn't have Mad Max? I don't think that's the case. If you ask me I know it's a mix of casting first and writing second. Sure, the perception of Furiosa leading a film wasn't that appealing I think that's a hurdle that could've been easily overcome. That is until Anna Taylor Joy was selected. She is not the choice for this movie, while Hemmsworth was perfect and her character needed to compliment him. The writing instead kept empowering her character while making Hemmsworth look "whiney" and not even worthy of defeat. I think that turned everyone off in our highly polarized film projects, meaning once they saw Joy they expected the same dull over-saturated style movie we've seen in the past. With that monumentally weak story it all fell apart immediately. There was no pay-off at the end and the lone wolf move was empty of any joy or resolution, not believable, and easily forgotten. It also betrayed all the character development it built up. Rushing from point to point Furiosa doesn't earn her place in storytelling. She doesn't "command" the leader of a big rig working with people. She appears to be a hot-head that works solo. The kind of person that leaves everyone behind. While Hemmsworth needed to be on the same level as Immortan Joe from the first film and even he was shown as weak and diplomatic, just giving up gas town was not a Joe move. Instead we could've gotten a stand-off film, where Joe needs Gas Town back and set-up a show down to see why the war boys were the rulers of the waste land, like Tholso Doom in Conan the Barbarian. Joe was a cult leader and Hemmsworth's character should've been the Caesar's Legion character. Two titans facing off the rule the dirt. Wow, what a concept that would've been. Furiosa proving herself like a Napoleon to the status of general and 5 minutes at the end designing the war rig to make sure they never had to worry about incursion ever again. Instead we got the film version of shop class.
Honestly a lot of the movie looks fake you can tell that it’s a lot of CGI and green screen. So when your watching it yr just reminded that it’s a movie. They should have added Bugs bunny while they were at it. I’ve seen other movies that don’t look so fake IDK what happed here Better look next time
I’ve watched this movie about a half dozen times since it came out on HBO and I still don’t understand it. It’s like Twisted Metal and Waterworld made a weird dystopian apocalypse type movie.
@@StudioBinder , I need something playing in the background when I’m working and it’s usually the best thing on. Plus, it’s visually exciting and there isn’t much dialogue, so it’s still interesting on mute with just captions.
I believe this movie is nowhere near the Fury Road on both visuals and story. Even the shots that captured in real life has some sort weird, way too clean CGI look which makes the audience feel abstarct. Yes maybe Fury Road doesn't use that much crazy action scenes and camera movements but you really feel the thrill when you watching it because it's so real. Sometimes less is more and that's a great example.
This ties into the idea that if the CGI is poorly done, it overshadows any practical effects, preventing them from receiving the recognition they deserve. The audience is likely to be turned off by subpar CGI, and while practical work might be well-executed, it won't be appreciated because the standard for CGI has become so high that anything less undermines the sense of realism.
Furiosa was great, but everyone knows what we really needed George Miller to make was “Old Man Mad Max” with Mel Gibson returning. I don’t care what kind of controversy Mel Gibson causes, this is what everyone wants.
I didn’t really like Furiosa it started out strong but I didn’t care for where it went after that. Also everything felt like cgi fury road did not feel that way at all. In fact isn’t that a reason that movie was so great?
They were definitely shot differently and neither method looked very easy. But you're right that there is a different feel to both movies that has clearly divided people.
Two things really: 1) It was recorded in Australia: A lot of the scenery and probably all skies had to be replaced digitally, Australia is not the "post-apocalyptic landscape" people really think it is, there are lots of vegetation, lots of cloudy skies. Notice how every sky look blurry and most scenes have a 'bloom' effect to hide the effect. 2) Lot of stunts were recorded indoors using greenscreen, which again is a problem when you have to believe the scene is being lit by a scorching hot sun. I mean, I do give George a pass because of his age. And filming in Australia allowed the film to have the cast it had. But the location makes a huge difference. Fury Road was recorded in Namibia desert, and it does affect things.
another masterpiece? I was so excited to watch this from all the hype it got but it was not nearly as good as fury road. Chris Evans, meh. Anya was great but the story was boring and the best characters/locations were already in fury road, there was nothing new just monopolized on fury road is what it seems like. As far as Visually it was much less stunning than fury road and way less memorable images stuck in my head.
In Hollywood terms, it did. So, you haven't seen Furiosa yet? Go in with low expectations and know that it ISN'T a sequel to Fury Road. You might enjoy it!
@@StudioBinder im sure the movie is good. But its just not a movie that i would go out of my way to watch without Max in it snd knowing it’s a prequel.
@@Tekkenandgaming oh is it? You Know I never would have guessed. Even action movies make sense. We know Hannibal Lecter isn’t real but he inhabits a world or real people. Most action movies (at least the good ones) seem to respect physics. Blade Runner posits a world in decay and people clearly exist in it. They have lives. This is just daft. I seriously don’t get the praise and I’m old enough to have see the original (before Mel became an outcast due to his antisemitism) in a theatre. That one at least made some kind of sense.
@@marcdraco2189 it’s an action movie. A good one, the world is a means to an end. The end being batshit crazy car chases, what you’re doing is called nitpicking.
