Disrupting traffic is not a peaceful protest. If you're gonna do this there you do it on the side of the road like a sane person. People have places to go things to do and sometimes that's time sensitive. Exactly, I would be angry at the government as well. The environmental movement has tried everything from letter writing to petitions but we're still going towards irreversible climate change. With more severe hurricanes, extreme rainfall and sea level rise, the roads will be much worse than this.

No, I dont approve of how these protesters are making their statement. But this isnt the first time some whacko(s) have obstructed a freeway for their idea of civil disobedience. It was a thing out on the LA freeways back in the 90's. That whole "LAPD are murderers" fury that went on & on for about a year. Naturally some of the drivers going through the protesters blockade were yelling "O.J. is a murderer!" right back at them. Trouble is, in today's social climate, I really think anyone attempting this same thing in the USA would get run over. It's illegal either way, yet some invisible force seems to be dissuading the organizers from even thinking about impairing the people that matter.
A few years ago, some people in our locality peacefully protested about a clogged canal but authorities didn't even know (although knowing would not make them do anything until getting pressured by higher ups) that a protest was occurring. A few weeks later, they protested blocking a busy road and it got immediate media attention. The cleaning of the canal started within a week. In the case of this video I am not supporting the doing of protesters. None cares until it one's problem. Both sides are selfish.
What makes them think that doing this will win anybody over to their side, or hear them in any way. It only harms their causes and pisses everyone off that might have had some sympathy to the cause.

I feel this man's rage. I live near a city where a lot of "protests" happened in the past couple years.... Idiots like this tried multiple times to stand in the middle of a freeway and other busy roads causing major traffic and multiple collisions. I got caught in one such traffic jam and ended up being late to an important meeting. So sick of these ignorant selfish fools.
Saw same thing here prior to covid. Idiots chained themselves together across the major bridge into downtown at peak rush hour. They had police officers standing by protecting them from being 'moved to safety.' People who don't work for themselves sat in rows of stopped traffic calling unsympathetic bosses to let them know that they would be late to work. So glad the 'betters' are making the world a better place.👏

Several states in the US have passed laws stating that a freeway/highway is exclusively for vehicles, and that anyone run over trying to pull this kind of stunt would be at fault. Basically, you sit down on the freeway and get run over by a semi (Lorrie to our Aussie and British friends) it's your own stupid fault. Amazing how these kinds of protests have dried up here.

In Aus ppl get MASSIVE fines for protesting on highways whilst they'd close the section of road off for their safety before arresting them.
