The Furious Five put up a good fight against Tai Lung, but are soon overwhelmed by his nerve strike technique. Join my Discord Server: / discord Follow me on Instagram: / casey_alhambra
I love that at the start of this fight you can see how out of her depth Tigress is by how she's constantly adjusting her Balance. Tai Lung is lounging on that rope.
Snow Leopards are VERY good climbers and have an almost unnatural sense of balance, makes sense that Tai Lung can do the same. Tigers on the other hand, while also good climbers, are nowhere close to the gravity defying bullshit Snow Leopards do, most likely because of their greater size and weight, being the biggest cats in the world.
Tai Lung has a lot more training than Tigress, considering he is like twice her age. That and the other commenter had a point, snow leopards have ungodly climbing abilities that are rivaled by no other big cat.
Es que si, nadie estaba a su nivel, esperaba alguien mucho mejor de lo que el era, era prácticamente perfecto, capacidades tenía de más, esperaba que el guerrero dragón sea alguien invencible.
Tai Lung acknowledging that they were well trained felt nice. He's not insulting them with lines like "you're the best Shifu had to throw at me? Pathetic." or stuff like that; he straight up admits that they're quite formidable...but _nothing_ compared to _him_
To paraphrase one of Black Clover's main villains: "It's not that you're weak, I'm just that much stronger than you." Tai Lung is cocky, not stupid. He knows where to give credit when credit is due, they DID put up a really good fight after all. And it goes to show how even after 20 years, Tai Lung was still Shifu's favorite. He didn't teach anyone _else_ that pressure-point technique after all.
Idk why people say Shen was more of an intimidating villain. Shen needed to hide behind armies and canons while Tai Lung destroyed armies and grand masters with his bare hands
Shen fought toe to toe with Po twice in the movie, he had far more destructive potential with his cannons and army, he murdered several pandas, including Po's mother, and forced the survivors into hiding, he stood for everything Po stood against, and was a bolder and more intimidating villain than Tai Lung would ever even want to be.
@@sheeeesh9405 Tai Lung strikes fear into everyone's heart, look at Shifu. With Shen he's just, "he killed master rhino, go defeat him, save Kung Fu, find inner peace on the way". A lot of people say two is the best, I don't think so. The second film doesn't blend the humour well in my opinion. Makes it all feel a bit dumb. Like him finding peace and saying "I am Po and I'm gonna need a hat" First one's the best by far, I think.
@@sheeeesh9405 he fought po twice toe to toe but it took po realizing his own inner strength to match Tai lung at all. Dude busted out of prison with cunning and his own strength. So strong even oogway was worried about him. Shen don't hold a candle to Tai lung
Tai Lung is a Western tragic hero. Po is an Eastern type of hero who is usually a villain in Western art. One trained all his life and then was betrayed, and another was chosen on a whim of a crazy old man. Tai Lung was sympathetic, didn't need to be a genocide initiator to be seen as antagonist, and was not cringe. His fights have the best choreography in a Western animated film; only Puss in Boots 2 is close to that standard, surpassing KFP2 and its Shen's fights.
This scene is masterful both choreography-wise and story wise. The Furious Five are masters of Kung Fu known across China for utilizing their amazing and innovative abilities to defeat seemingly insurmountable challenges (they literally created their own styles of Kung Fu). They are not mascots with big egos and empty skills. They are masters with years of practice and teamwork under their belts, and Tai Lung still wiped the floor with them within 5 minutes of battle. He identified their weaknesses (Tigress’s weak balance, Viper’s inability to fight once seized due to having no limbs, Crane’s delegated role as air assist rather than a hand-to-hand combatant, etc.) and easily beat them individually. Even when they ganged up on him as a team and temporarily incapacitated him, he literally shot back up at an near-incomprehensible speed with hardly a scratch on him and chi-blocked them so hard they were full-body paralyzed. This scene really did an excellent job of building up Tai Lung as a threat to Po and the Valley as whole, because if Five masters of Kung Fu trained by the greatest teacher in all of China couldn’t beat him, what chance does our hero have?
I also love how early on In the film , shifu gave them advice , and they all used it. Tigerress fought with more ferocity, crane used height to his advantage, monkey focused on speed , and viper used subtlety to sneak up on him. Mantis….. well mantis is just built different
Tai Lung was also smart by taking out the Monkey first because the Monkey was the fastest of them all. We could see how fast the Monkey went ahead of everyone, building up his momentum to strike Tai Lung first which enabled the rest to follow up.
2:58 He was moving so fast we don't even see him jump up from the mist, just the rope that bound him. The 5 pretty much lost the instant they left the damned valley.
It was more like, when he trained Tai Lung he wanted to teach him everything he knew, but then he turned out the way he did and didn't want to repeat the same mistake again and avoided teaching everything to the furious five so none of them ended up becoming power hungry like Tai Lung.
Plus tai lung was the first and only warrior to master all of the thousand scrolls of kung fu written by oogway himself Not even shifu knows that much , tai lung learned all by himself through hard training too on top of everything shifu taught him
I like that Tai Lung just casually messes with the balance of the bridge because he knows that as long as Tigress is on the bridge, they won't let it fall. Makes sense that he's got better balance then Tigress too, Snow Leopards are unnaturally good climbers and can basically defy gravity, Tigers on the other hand are nowhere near as good, most likely because of their greater size and weight.
@@redflame1417that’s where the accuracy of this movie has gone haywire. If Tigress and Tai Lung were true to size, Tigress would’ve DESTROYED Tai Lung in two minutes.
This is just proof that Mantis is the strongest of the furious five, he can keep a very unstable bridge steady while there is a tiger, Tibetan macaque, viper, and snow leopard on it and he’s much smaller than all of them.
There's something I don't see enough people talk about when it comes to Tai Lung. When he talks. Tai Lung has barely any lines in the movie. He says the least out of all the villains in Kung Fu Panda, shorts or otherwise. The first time we hear his actual voice (not his growls) is after he escapes. This is a guy who just tore apart a top security prison and obliterated a thousand guards, and he only needed a feather to do it. And yet, when he talks, he's completely relaxed. He's calm, collected, and He's not even fazed by the power of those rhino guards, or the Furious Five, or anyone else. He's not even afraid of Shifu. When Tai Lung talks, you see just how in his element he is.
Tai Lung was LEAGUES above the Furious Five’s capabilities, yes they landed successful hits, and even managed to knock him on the other side of the bridge, but in the end they only managed to even hurt him because they continued to strike him when he was unable to react Viper snuck up when Tigress was being choked, Monkey rushed in while Tai Lung was distracted with Viper, and they all finished it only after Mantis swung the bridge and knocked Tai Lung off balance Meanwhile Tai Lung was just naturally skilled enough to overpower and overwhelm every single member of the Five Able to strike precise enough to hit nerve points on opponents as small as Mantis, strong enough to swing across that gorge, tough enough to take that beating and laugh it off, and skilled enough to overwhelm five trained masters Shen had some menace, don’t get me wrong, but in the end we moreso feared the cannons, not Shen himself But Tai Lung, he was terrifying, he felt like an unstoppable force
You can see that Tai Lung closely observed the Five’s weaknesses, Tigress’ poor balance (which is a reference to how Snow Leopards are apparently better at balancing than Tigers), Viper’s lack of arms and inability to fight once restrained and Crane’s speciality as more so air support than a physical fighter. He then made use of these to counter them. Plus, he used their overconfidence and the element of surprise to catch them off guard with his Nerve Attack.
@@scrappycoco6282 her name is tigress if u want to know. That tiger girl is a master of the tiger style. She fought against the big leopard (tai lung) because she is the most skilled of her team
0:53 I find it quite ironic that the very line Crane used earlier in the film to mock Po is thrown right back into his face when Tai Ling uses it to insult the Five.
When I first saw the movie & Tigress claimed that she was the Dragon Warrior I thought, “Wait, no your not why are you lying?!” Then years later I realized, “Wait, she was covering for Po.” And I just thought that was precious 🥺
I'd believe it's a bit of both? I mean, if it's not, might just make it my headcanon. While she was upset that Po was chosen as Dragon Warrior over her, it is implied this is due to her wanting Shifu's approval rather than the actual title. And this is purely speculation. But in the scene where Shifu stopped Po from running away, Po stated his reasons why he didn't quit and revealed his insecurities, quote; "But it could never hurt more than it did every day of my life just being me." Tigress was spying on them and presumably heard their entire conversation. Judging by her facial expression, she might have started to feel bad about how she previously treated Po. And might have even sympathized with him, as she was also ostracized and was ashamed of herself as a child. So at this point I think she did start to care for him and tried to cover for him.
It's cool how crane tied up tai lung and the way tai lung was screaming was funny also it was cool how mantis was able to grab on the 2 ropes when monkey attacked and the last cool part was the first part when the furious 5 was going to face tai lung
I guess Tai was able to escape getting splatted against the mountain either because A: he’s one tough bastard, or B: he cut the ropes fast enough with his own claws to escape and whiplash himself across the broken bridge. Either way that’s badass.
Tai lung is really strongest fighter but he loses to po due to his powerful punch against po's nerve is not perfect due to layer of fat prevents it and finally tai lung is sent to spirit realm forever.
You should do the Walking Zombie 2 bosses with healthbars for who play as is called the chosen one just because the narrator never knows what you name him.
When has she 'bragged' that she's one? She only says it here in hope to intimidate tai lung, and then accepts po as dragon warrior by the end of the first film when he's proven himself. And tigress never actually wanted that scroll, she was more concerned with making shifu proud and not disappointing him
Shifu would beat her easily. He didn't have the same level of attachment to her as he did to Tai Lung and other members of the furious five probably wouldn't be on board
I never understood why crane (the bird) just didn’t sneak up behind him while he was talking to tigress at the beginning and pick him up and just throw him off
do you really honestly think a kung fu master like Tai Lung would get beaten easily by that? even if crane manages to sneak behind him, the moment crane touches Tai Lung, the latter's ferocity, quick thinking and skills could easily find a way to stop crane. they really just were no match to him.
They did, but he was already moving so fast to the other side that Tigress didn't have any time to do anything but kick him away and that's how they ended up in the situation they were in. Tigress' only choice was to stand off against him as they balanced on the rope, neither could do anything at that point. If she ran, Tai Lung would be right behind her. There was no way she could make it back before he reached the other side. The only choice at that point was to keep him stalemated on the broken bridge until they could incapacitate him enough to separate themselves from him. Basically, it's the way it played out. Tai Lung just has the hidden ability to fling himself off a rope, however.
