If you think about it Tai Lung was nerfed alot, he was in Prison in one spot for 2 decades. He couldnt move a single limb for 20 years and his moves are this good
Shifu said earlier in the movie that Tai Lung had actually gotten _stronger_ since being imprisoned. He likely used Chi to store up energy and keep himself in shape for all that time.
Tai Lung was always the one Kung Fu Panda villain who deserved the most sympathy. He trained his entire life to prove himself to his master all for Oogway to deny Shifu’s offer. I get that Oogway may have saw darkness in Tai Lung’s heart, but believe it or not, his perspective on Tai Lung was wrong. All he ever did for his master was to make him proud, and he even said it himself. He also spent 20 entire years locked away in prison without being able to move an inch. Overall, Tai Lung deserves every bit of sympathy.
I always saw it as Oogway denying Tai Lung the scroll was his test. He was gauging what Tai Lung would do if he failed, to see if he truly was the dragon warrior and Tai Lung's slaughtering of the villagers proved he wasn't in control but rather full of pride
It's worth noting that "saw darkness in his heart" was just Tigress's interpretation of an event she wasn't there for. It's entirely possible that Oogway didn't see Tai Lung as being any worse than the furious five, he simply wasn't the dragon warrior. It's likely that it was the trauma from Sifu immediately accepting Tai Lung as a failure that broke him. It's obvious from this fight that Tai Lung's sense of betrayal from his master is his core motivating force moreso than his greed. Even as bad as things had gotten he still tried to give Sifu Oogway's staff so he could acknowledge Tai Lung, that's what he really wanted. It's not a coincidence that Tai Lung doesn't even notice the scroll is missing until he finally glimpses it over Sifu's shoulder. From the moment he arrived he never took his eyes off of what really brought him back, which was Sifu.
And I don't even know what darkness oogway saw. If anything HE CAUSED IT and shifu. HE denied him as the dragon with NO proper reasoning. He never helped Tai lung control his emotions if he really did have some mysterious darkness inside of him. He never did anything but stand in the background, although I'm not defending Tai lung Destroying the city, it makes sense why he did. And then he was locked up for 20 YEARS with NO ONE coming to see him. He was quite literally just rotting away in there, wondering all that time what did he do wrong, or why did he fail. Like shifu couldn't have just went there and talked to him? Told him he'll always be his best student? Imagine if he did, he probably would have been teaching Kung fu alongside shifu. Apart from Tia lung going on a rage, everything else wasn't his fault. He never had a proper answer as to why he wasn't the dragon warrior and then their solution wasn't to figure out what that darkness was. Just look up him for 20 damn YEARS with no one to talk to. Oogway is somehow the master but he couldn't help Tai lung with his darkness? Instead, just turn your back on him. That's totally what a good master does, turn their back on a student that instead of helping them. Oogway caused it all. Tai lung never had a darkness, oogway was the one who made it manifest in him.
I never thought of it too much, but do you realize Tai Lung was in one, constricted spot for 20 years? No training, let alone even just moving. And he beat the Five and Shifu with such ease.
He could barely breathe either, it restricted his breathing as he took deep long breaths after the needles come out, he was a menace, bro really one shotted the furious five after not taking them seriously and slammed Shifu
He trained tho. Shifu said that he was stronger than his past prision self. He seems to have trained his martial arts a lot, considering how he was able to perfectly replicate the techniques oogway used against him. also, 20 years of non-stop meditation may have greatly increased his inner energy as well.
@@apenasumotaku7538Those boulders should’ve ripped him apart but didn’t, his arms must’ve been straining for years until he got used to it, I doubt he could do much training probably just meditating, as he could barely beeath
@@CaseyAlhambra I think you should’ve took some health from Tai Lung when he had the fire, cause I’m sure he was hurting himself just to hurt Shifu more
It's crazy even back in the very first movie chi was always thing, we can see here Sifu uses a move to break the rock with some sort of energy at 0:47 and then it's other examples when Oogway first took down Tai Lung and just the Wushi finger hold in general.
you know, i gotta give dreamworks credit. they can make a villain whos barely in the movie still deep and complex with believable and realistic goals and motives is what i would have said before kung fu panda 4 came out
"Who filled my head with dreams? Who drove me to train till my bones crack? Who denied me of my destiny?" Poor tai lung. If Shifu only at least tried...
Shifu did try why do you think Tigress and tai lung were raised differently. Shifu wasn’t a perfect parent but he was one his greatest mistakes were letting his love and pride for his son blind him too his faults fail to correct him on it. Oogway I bet did want to help but he not his father he a mentor at best but their only so much he could say not saying he had no part just saying oogway wasn’t perfect he is old extremely was on the stretch of his final years he needed to take step back a lot things to let shifu grow
@@greenightponydragon5127 "raised differently?" he pushed one to the point of breaking his bones and emotionally neglected the other. also, he didnt try as far as TAI LUNG was concerned. "starting over with a new kid" is not "trying"
15 years after I watched this movie for the first time, After being betrayed/let down by my own professor in front of a delegate who could have provided me with my dream opportunity, I finally understand Tai Lung
I love how this fight and Tai Lung’s fight with the furious five are actual fights and then Po and Tai Lung’s fight is basically a Super Smash Bros Launch Fest.
The difference is that the bridge fight and this one he focused on killing or immobilising them first. As for the final battle, he just focused on the scroll and ignoring Po-which gives Po time to understand him as an opponent. Also he lost his motivation after see the scroll made him mentally exhausted and lost Will to fight. If he had focused on defeating Po first, then Po wouldn’t have stood a chance. At least that’s what people have said.
Nah, there are the simply Reflexes, Peace, Skill, Durability and the capacity of learning and memorizing from Experience, that Po always had or obtained them just imediately before and also all the time after, in the next movies and series.
Po didnt win though, he technically failed to stop Tai lung from getting the scroll, he only beat his ass after Tai lung was completely thrown off by the scroll, combine that with Po having insane durability cause hes fat and his odd fighting style and Tai lung was just screwed.
but then the movie would've ended. When the villian redeems what is the purpose of Po becoming the Dragon Warrior. But I really hoped for Tai Lung to survive
@@loveladii69 Shifu was not as strong as Tai Lung. He knew he will die facing him. Shifu is defenetly a very strong, but the student had surpassed the teacher. Shifu went all out here, it's just that his Kung Fu style isn't as ferocious as Tai Lung's. Tai Lung remains the single most powerful Kung Fu user after Oogway.
-Kung Fu Panda 4 was never supposed to be a masterpiece, it's not my fault! -Isn’t it your fault?! And who filled our heads with expectations?! Who made you wait 8 years for the release?! Who denied my destiny?!?! -It was never my decision! -And now? *Shows poster of Kung Fu Panda 5*
What I noticed is when Tai Lung breaks up the stairs to the jade palace at 0:44, launching the rock at Shifu, Shifu destroys it and the light he emits is the same light produced when Kai from kfp3 uses his chi attacks to do similar things, which he stole from others. Has Shifu stolen people's chi in the past? Probably not but an interesting thought lol
Its possible its just an effect and nothing else. If we take a look some techniques and moves have some kind of Aura to it (like tailung with his blue like flames) so its possible shifu used one of those and it just so happend to be green colored. cool thought tho...
@@glxsyy.livvie It was his adopted son, if you notice in the flashback it was Shifu who took care of him and was his father figure. That's why it was always "I loved you too much to see what you were becoming" and not just "you were my favorite student". Shifu found Tai Lung the same way the goose found Po, except Tai Lung wasn't eating vegetables lmao. Also to the people saying Shifu was holding back, he definitely was but at this point in the series this is pre-inner peace shifu who hadn't even completed Oogway's training so I highly doubt he'd ever stand up against Tai Lung like that. Although, I am certain going by the logic that Kai defeated Tai Lung in the spirit realm (he had his jade chi symbol), Shifu in the third movie who put up a decent fight against Kai could probably beat Tai Lung.
I actually think Tai lung had to win from Po because he had to prepare better for the fight with Po. And I think in the new film, thai lung should just come back instead of the camelion, or the camelion kai and Tai lung should work together and go looking for Lord Shen, or tai lung should help Po defeat the camelion, which would be cool.

That happened earlier in the movie as Tigress was explaining to Po about Shifu training Tai Lung and attacking the village after Oogway told him he's not the dragon warrior.
