Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included ru-vid.comUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.
Love it. Me personally, I think it needs draw pulls. But it’s is beautiful. ❤ love how you give details as to how you made the base. I think you did an awesome job on it.
So good!! I would have loved to see hardware on the top 3 drawers to tie in the bottom base color. But even without, it's beautiful & love the wallpaper touch.
Lauren, the gym sessions are showing. You look really great lately and seem like you have more energy too so hopefully you’re feeling great on the inside also!
I really liked the green color. I was thinking maybe you should paint it green all over, but I do like the black a lot. The only thing I kept seeing was some bling, jewelry.....like gold or brass hardware I think would look great and help it sell. That said, I really like the legs. Good job! I enjoy watching your videos. 😊
I agree @grace matters, perhaps the top of the drawers should be raw wood to match the new base, or gold accents as you said. Its lovely work and I too love watching the toobs.
I liked the green but thought the wood was too light. If it was stained a chestnut color I think it would have worked well. I like the black with the new base but also think the base could use a color stain to lessen the contrast but I’m sure it will sell now!
Gold pulls would look great against the dark paint .. that would tie light base in . Great job on the base. I love the fact you love to teach and learn. Plus you guy's share it with us. Thank you!
You are the best. Love your educational shopping trips and furniture flips. Love how you admit maybe it wasn't the best color choice, and show us your redo. You take chances and experiment which is fun. It's also so great to see your honesty when maybe the experiment was a flop. You guys are so cool : ).
Even though it probably already has...If it doesn’t sell right away...just the right BRUSHED GOLD sleek lined hardware would take this dresser over the moon..BUT it really looks fantastic. I liked the green but this black is SPOT ON...!!!!! Good job and you are such an inspiration I love how you keep it real.
Looks like you did a good job overall painting the piece but I think it needs a pop of color or something to break up all of that black color such as brass handles
Lauren , i know this is going to turn out GEORGEOUS but for us old as Moses folks black isn't the best color. Most of us have eye issues and black tends to make some of us see spots. I would rather see a light color , something beachy and happy. Just my opinion sweet girl. Everything you do is simply GEORGEOUS!❤❤
Thought about you the other day when I visited an upscale furniture store here in Las Vegas: What flimsy junk compared to the solid stuff you guys rehab!😃👏👏👏
I like the black redo over the green dipped look, Lauren. I also like the base with angled legs... very nice upgrade. However, for my personal taste, I would have preferred a wood stain and sealer rather than the raw pine wood. I always enjoy watching your vlogs and the way you remain true to your original profession by continuing to teach in your workshop! Good luck with this redo flip!
I liked both, but I think you did the right thing by redoing it. can't wait to get back at it (hand surgery). BTW, your workout routine is working! You, both, look great!!
Looks better with the addition of the legs. Good job on the paint too. Because of the design, it ages itself, but it looks great.I’ve seen some comments to add pulls, but I’d take a leaf from Kacha’s book & add a bit of gold to each of the drawers to break the color up a bit.
I just wanted to say that since you made some changes (see prev toobs everyone), your videos have increased in content twofold. Well done, so much more interesting to watch you and N man🥰working/collaborating, a joy, thank you.
I was just wondering if you put up anywhere how much you end up selling your items for?? I also love that you keep in your videos some bits that don't quite work out first time round and how you figure out a workaround. Shows how determined you are - and makes me feel way more human!
Sue Wolfe- Lauren, you gave this dresser a new lease on life! Personally, I think that the solid black is a win over the green. Great choice and thanks for showing us that not everything goes the way we plan! 👍❤️
That rounded edge 80s style of furniture always remind me of a hotel dresser, without draw pulls etc. It also reminds me of baby nursery furniture, all it needs is the changing table attachment for the top.
Glad you put the dresser on legs and the style compliments it. Since you said the base is soft pine, I wonder why you didn't add a varnish or clear coat for protection from vacuum cleaners. Overall, the new look is great. Your skills are getting better and better. Thanks for sharing.
You did a great job on making a base.. But the black dresser looks very top heavy on the light wood. It just appears like a black box on pallet wood in the video. I thoroughly enjoy your videos and most of your flips are pretty near perfect. This one just isn’t up to your professional standards. It’s very masculine looking so the wallpaper in the drawers, though beautiful just doesn’t seem like a good call. I do hope it sells for you soon. Your posts are always honest, very well explained, informative and beautifully done. You are a natural in front of the camera and your skills are amazing.
Wonderful results! So classy! The black is perfect! I do have a thought. There are these pads? that can be screwed into the bottom of furniture legs to protect the legs from splintering and protect wood floors from being scratched. Since you have used pine, the softer wood, I’m thinking that you might want to invest in them. Just a thought. Love the work you do! B~}
That base made it so much better. Last time it just looked like a half painted piece of furniture from the 80s. I just feel like with base it brings it to a more modern look.
It takes so much math to be able to refinish/refurbish furniture so that it can show in the end as you do. I see you and everything that you do to make a piece look the ways it does. It involves not only math, but the chemistry knowledge of different finishes, etc and how to meld all of that together. Kudos to your extensive experience, knowledge, and patience in this field!!! Girl power!
I am so surprised the first flip didn’t sell it was really cute! I think the black is a safe color choice for the style. Both looks are great you do amazing work!!
Love this dresser! Adding the base, changing the color and the wallpaper in the drawers really pulled it together. Have you ever put wallpaper on the sides of the drawers for pops of color when they are open?
Such a shame to take such a beautiful solid oak piece of furniture with prominent woodgrain and cover it up! As someone who has been involved in making furniture for retail stores, as well as refinishing furniture for over 50 years, I would have used a transparent wood stain like Minwax, which is available in almost any color, to preserve the beautiful woodgrain look. As a matter of fact, I put new oak cabinets in the kitchen of my vacation mobile home finishing the raw wood with a white Minwax transparent stain, followed by an clear satin, water-based acrylic. They were beautiful and made the small kitchen look much larger. I would have sent a picture, but I sold my South Texas vacation home. Perhaps things have changed over the years, but as a woodworker who takes great joy in seeing the natural woodgrain, saving opaque finishes for cheap veneer used furnature, or pine, birch, or maple furniture that has been heavily distressed through years of use. Be careful when considering refinishing any antique furniture. Do some research first, as some 17th-20th century pieces can lose thousands in value refinishing! Just a little FYI from someone who has had years of experience in woodworking.
Hi I watched your 12 days of flipmas video ( sorry if I named it wrong). I enjoyed it and I want to know what brand/size of spray tent to you recommend. Thanks. Your re-furbishings are amazing.
Nice job Lauren. As a viewer of your channel I’m surprised no one is telling you to cut your videos down in time. They are way too long!! You explain too much way too much talking.for example just put the tape on. It must be the teacher in you! Cut time in half! I think most people are fast forwarding your videos! Just a helpful hint!
Although I love before and after home makeovers, I much prefer your furniture flip content. Can I make a suggestions for you to consider.... Can you do voice-overs if you're going to explain the cleaning, sanding process in EVERY video? Hearing how to clean a piece every episode drags the video out. I'm skipping a lot of the video because it's to repetitive listening to the steps before the actual work begins. 30 minutes is a long video if most of the video is repetitive talking. You can still give instructions while we watch you do the work if you do voice overs, it's less boring. Just a suggestion if you discover people are skipping most of the video to get to the end.
24:30 I think it would have looked really cool if the whole dresser is painted black and the drawers are stained in black, then you still get the grain you loved so much but also the solid color too. Hindsight, huh? It's tricky sometimes.
Guess I disagree with most -- I thought the green much prettier than black. But that's just me cause green always bn my fave color. I do like the base and I didn't think it looked right before with the top section natural. Anyway you did a beautiful job on this piece.
The black looks better although could have simply painted the whole thing in the original green color. Base amd legs are too light. Needs knobs. Gosh that late 80's / 90s furniture is hard to make look nice. Big improvement!
Great job. Just my personal preference: I probably would have stuck with the green family, maybe in the more neutral sage color and then added stain to the top and base that was a little darker than what you have to give it a more neutral color combo. That’s just my opinion. Let us know how soon it sells.
I didn't care for the original piece, but that's just not my style. I would like the original piece with the new base. But, I also like the new finished piece.
No pulls! My daughter has that style furniture and if you put polls on it, it will look very odd. I think the legs should be those mid modern spindles type. With the plastic or metal slides. Did you put slides on the bottom of the new base.? If not, I would recommend that you do so so the wood doesn’t scratch a floor or chip/shred the wood legs when moving.
What does it mean when you get hundreds of clicks and 6 saves on your post in the marketplace? I may have to go down in price. I put 50 for a side table and it’s painted with bliss mineral paint and gave it an antique look. I thought about taking a step up and sand the corners. Maybe changing the drawer pulls too
Oh looking at ghf pieces you have in the unit you should get back to multiple painting pieces .....looking forward to yiu getting back to that to be honest
I think some really cool and pretty handles on the drawers that are the same color(not necessarily the same material) as the base would look beautiful! It’s just missing something.
much better, was not a fan of the green or the dipped. I think I would put some pine knobs on the top three drawers but definitely an improvement. Good luck!!
Add hardware and I would have left the top natural wood to tie in with the bottom. I'm sure black is a good color choice when you are selling, but I just don't care for it.
The color is a great improvement as well as the legs but, I think handles would add to it. I was also surprised that you didn’t do anything to the base to protect it. Just my opinion.
Love the black on the dresser looks great but the light base is too much contrast. Doing a darker stain would blend in better. I know there are pulls on the drawers but not having hardware pulls is a little off putting.
I like it. If it still doesn't sell I would love to see you do something with the rounded edges on the top. I guess cause I lived thru that furniture's era, it's hard to look past the rounded top profile.
