I know absolutely nothing of fighting in a war, but I do know that it can happen to anyone and anyone's country, anytime and anywhere on this globe. My frustration mounts when both formally-educated and self-educated people think wars and terror happen to someone else, somewhere else. The arrogant attitude that we have somehow achieved this insular state of incredible safety and security by the virtue of just being who we are and where we are rather than face the fact that we have been fortunate enough to have others fight so we can be safe in Canada. My wholehearted THANKS to all who fight and for this excellent programme. (And to my nephew who is training Ukrainians....somewhere.)

Operation Interflex, the EUMAM and some other much smaller programs are slated to do so much training between winter and spring. Up to 55,000 soldiers. The only negative is that Ukraine command overestimated the degradation of Russian forces when Kherson fell and withdrew too many soldiers too quickly to Europe and paid for it.

Good for your nephew. Canada put it out there when it joined US, Poland, UK, Lithuania in the the quint after the 2014 annexation up until this war when so many others turned their backs. Governments orchestrated troop training but also infrastructure hardening, and community access to make sure all groups (including Russian speakers) could access services to help try to head off war. It is nice to see good works like that. Shame that certain other countries spent their time selling war materials to Putin green lighting war.

Listening in London. I listen to this every day and find it indispensable for keeping up with the news from Ukraine. I thought this was probably the most informative so far, for those of us from a non-military background. I’m sure nobody needs to hear me say it, but I wanted to just say how much I appreciated your contributors’ final thoughts. This is not just Ukraine’s struggle; it is the Sudetenland question of the C21st. And if anyone thinks this is overstating it, besides invading several sovereign nations, Putin has already used chemical weapons on foreign soil. There is no other time to do this but now. For those concerned with the cost to NATO countries, this is a damned sight cheaper than fighting the direct hot war with Russia in a few years’ time.

Clarification....the Gephard does not have to dump huge amounts of lead into the sky to shoot down Russian air assets. The Gepard is incredibly efficient shooting only three rounds from each of its two cannons (6 rounds) in each burst. The Gepard is advertised to destroy a target with four rounds of standard ammunition and they also have a round with a proximity fuze which is supposed to be more efficient. Lastly, the Gepard carries up to 640 rounds (320 rounds per gun) meaning they could theoretically carry enough ammo to shoot down up to 100 aircraft, missiles or drones without reloading.
@EhEhEhEINSTEIN
@EhEhEhEINSTEIN Год назад
Definitely an awesome machine. In the recent video of one shooting down a cruise missile, are the explosions on the ground the Gepard tracking the missile fireball into the ground and letting off a poorly timed burst? Would that be driver error/inexperience or something automatic happening in the computer?

That really is super interesting. So Ukraine basically set new standards conducting strategic & tactical urban warfare in recorded history, is that a correct understanding? This truly is fascinating. Very interesting guests today, this is almost getting as insightful as intel officer Oleksii Arestovych's war diaries on Mark Feygin's podcast. It's amazing to me how former and active duty military & political leaders are taking lessons now learning from Zelenskyy, Zaluzhnyi and other Ukrainian heroes in this war (emphasis on military leaders first). Nobody would've predicted this years ago, but it's really amazing how much alliances like NATO could actually learn from countries like Ukraine, Finland the Baltics etc on different accounts. Thx for this conversation 🙏

The battle for Kiev was sth like the 300 Spartans that stopped the Persians in Greece. In history it will go down as the wonder of Hostomel, I am sure. It did all depend on a few hundred brave people in the decisive days around Hostomel - after these first partial local victories the rest of the military and the population did gain confidence in themselves and the tide did turn during only a few days. The point of no return has long ago come for the Ukrainians - they have no other choice than to fight or to die. There is no middle way for them and they know it. And let my say it very clearly: when Spartans stopped the Persians in Greece or when the Polish army stopped the Turks at Vienna - in both cases it was decisive for all Europe and in our case Hostomel was even important for all the world. The Ukrainians REALLY fight for all Europe, it is not just "their propaganda", it is the absolute truth.

Unfortunately though as good as German hardware is, the PzH 2000 for one seemed to be prone to attrition, so they have to be repaired and refitted in Lithuania and Slovakia where Germany had set up service stations, to be sent back into the fight. Perhaps this is due to these systems' lack of extensive usage for testing in active battle zones within recent years. I'm hoping this won't be the case with the Gepards.

The Best Alone and by Far! A non-sensationalized account bringing together a sisinctly presented daily account of the most important aspects regarding the war in Ukraine presented by leading journalists who are there along with a daily changing list of experts in all pertinent and current aspects of the process of this war. There are plenty of entertainers bringing their own versions and stylistic approaches to presenting news on the war but none with a no-nonsense version of fully vetted stories that can be trusted completely without question. This podcast is heavily relyed on both around the world and also in Ukraine by those prosecuting the war and the general population that have had this forced upon them and who must now find the ways to survive it. Thankfully this news is here for all to trust.

This has probably been said before but could be worth repeating in broadcasts to differentiate between 1) Telegraph British newspaper media group and 2) Telegraph LLC messenger service based in Dubai. The later having a far larger subsciber base used throughout former Soviet counties and extensively elsewhere for the rapid dispersal of information and claimed to be encrypted although likely keys with Russian state. If the genuine aim is to assist and promote public civil defence awareness in Ukraine and elsewhere of such lessons whilst recognising a proviso about false information I’d suggest such publications were made in Ukrainian language across both platforms hopefully without constantly annoying commercial advertising.

I think the Ukrainians in Kiev must have used the Suntsu tactic of appearing vulnerable and it appeared that they had no chance of defending Kiev - as all we saw at the beginning were civilians being provided with Molotov cocktails and half a dozen soldiers lying down on a bridge! However, with adapted drones and NLAWS they were able to destroy the convoys heading their way and intercepted the airborne Russians landing at the main airports. The Ukrainian soldiers have fought heroically and have quickly learned how to get the best use out of the latest weapons that have been provided to them.

Sorry Tele, I can't take this episode seriously. First, Gephards don't need to send masses of lead into the air to take down a missile or drone. They can be confident of taking down a drone with as little as 4 shells and a missile with as little as 6. Their range is short, so they really need the missile to go almost straight overhead. Secondly, your "nukular" expert. If he can't pronounce the word nuclear correctly, I doubt he is much of an expert. And he isn't the first on your pod. Francis can't pronounce it correctly either. Grates no end.

If folks are taught about the basics of comprehensive contingencies-management capabilities, from the context of better neighborhood incident management, those folks end up being forced to talk, about all their crucial issues; and, to "vote" on how best to resolve them... Dare I whisper, (ain't that - basically - "democracy" / demos-kratia, within the Government machinery of a republic???). And, can't this be applied, to help struggling democracy??? To help restore to "mustering"; but, now, from a device, for resolving crucial matters???? (Food, water, shelter, shielding, medical, fire, security, enforcers, logistics, liaison, waste, democracy...)??? Note, it was the infiltration of truth, into the USSR, that dissolved it, from underneath, back in the late 1980s. But, we in the USA didn't - still - have the system, for a model. We got lazy. As the security apparatus faded from use, so went the mustering, for collecting voice and vote. We can bring pieces of those older systems, back on line, while using a Matrix NGO with tech assets. The loophole, through "their" front door, as DES - "Support, Systems and Services."

US remote Earth probing satellites, owned by Maxar, filmed the Engels airstrip in Russia’s Saratov Region ahead of the Ukrainian attempt to carry out a drone strike, according to information, published on the company’s website Monday. The airstrip was filmed on December 3 and 4. Meanwhile, satellite photos of the Dyagilevo airstrip in the Ryazan Region were updated in late October. Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry told reporters that, on Monday morning, Kiev attempted to strike the two airstrips with Soviet-made jet drones in order to disable Russian long-range aviation planes. According to the Ministry, air defense systems intercepted the Ukrainian drones travelling at low altitude. NATO countries are increasingly involved in the conflict in Ukraine, with the United States intentionally proceeding with an escalation on this track NATO has no caps on the range of arms supplies to Ukraine. NATO are pushing ahead with expanding the range of deliveries of ever heavier, longer-range weapons. At the same time, they slyly and deceitfully, by and large, try to create an impression that there is some kind of a border line, some kind of self-restraint in this regard.

And parallel to the ground,but with the air defense, the strikes are all the way to the ground because they are going up like a diver,then coming down nose first through that air defense..they've adjusted though..

When Ukraine invades Mariupol they will need Thermo baric weapons and bunker busters to work on the steel factory which is most likely used as a HQ by Russian forces.
