I just picked up a pound of Varget to play with. 0.92” 10 shot group with 25.5g Varget under a 55g Vmax bullet. I will try 68g HPBT when I get restocked. H335 has done well for me also. Seating depth seams to matter substantially as well as powder charge.
You'll have better luck with AR Comp. Plus all you have to do with that powder is drop from the powder measure. I can load 300/hr on my single stage, doing this. With Varget, have fun weighing every charge, and taking an unnecessarily long time. Your loads are also double grouping. That means you should be seating a little deeper as well. Wondering how far off the lands you are running them? I generally run .020" off the lands with this bullet. Groups in the .6" range for 10 shots are the norm..
I use the Hornady auto charge pro for powder dispensing, so I don't weigh each charge. It weighs and dispenses the charge automatically. Thanks for the recommendation for AR comp. I will give that a try. Thanks for watching.
Dennis, what is your jump? Cartridge length to jam? @rogerferguson6305's comment about seating depth is telling. I know I have asked you before about this and I think you said the mag length prevents loading longer, but just for kicks and giggles why don't you test for seating depth? Single feed. I feel badly for you because you are limiting results. You find velocity node, then adjust seating depth for accuracy. At least that is what I have read. Take care.
You are correct Cody. I am limited by the magazine length. I could load them shorter, but not longer. loading one at a time is very difficult. If the magazine is in and empty, the bolt won't close. If I drop the magazine then it's difficult to get the round into the chamber. Maybe with a different rifle.
