Today I test out the Furwell pet hair broom and the Furwell Roller to see if they live up to the advertising hype for removing pet hair from floors and furniture.

It's also kind of funny that by the time you're done brushing out a golden retriever, you have enough fur to create another golden retriever.

Scorpion hunting is a time honored tradition in the southwest. All you need is a portable blacklight, a bug smashing tool and maybe a flathead screwdriver to get into tight spaces. It also needs to be nighttime. Scorpions glow under a blacklight making them very easy to find at night. Just walk around outside and these things will be everywhere. Then...smash away. 🦂

I watch these reviews for the same reason I watch Shark Tank. I just want to know if there's something interesting out there that has practical use, but isn't that popular. But I don't have any pets either 😉. So far James' review of Granitestone pans made me a believer. After one year, the coating is intact, but it's cheap so the pan did warp slightly... I'll get a new one.😁

Not just for fur! Really good for people with long hair and long beards. My vacuum cleaner doesn't do a thing, but this sort of rubber broom gets my carpets as clean as new! Particularly effective for "trodden-in" hair. Use short strokes, pulling the broom towards yourself. A+. 10 out of 10. At only $10, definitely worth a try.

I went to ace hardware and got a good old fashioned scrub brush and a broom handle. Works great. I have a long haired cat and I use the brush before I vacuum. Makes things so much easier. I never realized how much fur was still in the carpet. The brush is good for spot cleaning too.

Ha! I just realized you and I have the same sunglasses! Aside from that I have cats, and 40 year old battered carpets. My powerful vacuum does well, but I don't like hauling it up and down stairs. I found that a good stick vac to get the loose stuff, and an old fashioned rug rake with metal teeth for the fur and fluff that gets worked deeply into the pile does a great job.

I have the FlyLady’s purple version of this and it has been a game changer. I don’t know if the brooms are made of slightly different materials or what, but I love mine. It saves my vacuum from pet hair. I have a Bernese Mountain Dog mix and he sheds hair like crazy. He also has fur in black, white, and brown so it shows on everything. I brush carpets and hard floor surfaces with my broom and it’s great. Worst part is removing hair from broom to throw away. It also picks up dog food from around my dog’s bowl. I do have to use a hand held version to get the fur that collects between the carpet and the base boards. The hand version comes to a narrow point that fits better in the grove. Vacuums aren’t effective in that carpet grove. The hand held version is also the best tool I have for getting fur off of furniture and car seats. You can also use these brooms for spot cleaning carpets. When you have to scrub your carpet to clean up a pet mess or a liquid spill, it’s better to scrub with this broom than to get down on your knees.

I personal love these rubber brooms. I find they work best on hard floor to not kick up all the fur or dust while sweeping. I also use mine to bunch up and remove all the annoying clumps of cat fur that stick to my couch, much easier than picking them off with your fingers. It does require some elbow grease for carpet surfaces thought. Really I find it's main benefit is it DOES NOT kick up pet hair or dust while sweeping hard surfaces. Great for people in apartments with pets.

I had one of those brooms some years ago - different brand. At the time it was hailed as a wet and dry broom that could pick up pet hair. I found it didn't work on carpets so used it on the hard floor in my kitchen. It didn't last long and the brush head split where the handle goes into it. It was a waste of money.

We bought a broom just like that many years ago and we still have it but it was never advertised for pet hair back then. In fact, it was for cleaning hard floors. Maybe that's why you liked it best on your tiles. I bet someone wanted to re-market that style of broom after trying it with pet hair and thought that it worked somewhat.

I'm curious if long vs. short hair pets makes a difference when it comes to using it on carpet, or even if long vs. short carpet itself. For instance I have extremely short fiber carpet in my room, but the living room has more of a plush-style long and comfy fiber carpet. Great review as always, thanks again and stay safe!

Using a grooming brush is probably the best way to get it done. Tried using squeegees, vacuum cleaners, bristle brushes etc but by far using a grooming brush is the best way to get the job done, they’re not very big but just a few strokes gets up like 5x as much as any of these tools can do.

I own a great pyrenees, which have very long, thick double coats. I bought the fur remover bc his fur has taken out 2.5 vacuums in 4 years. It is time consuming and physically tiring, but it has done wonders for the life of my vacuum (and trust me, I am very diligent in my vacuum care and was doing hand gathering of fur clumps anyway - this gets the fur thats just...*sitting there* on the top of the carpet). Side note, mine came with a squeegee side that helped with spills, and it easily sweeps up fur on hard floors. So definitely a product for certain breeds and people, and the people who need it will recognize that immediately.

The Chom Chom knock off (the white one) is amazing and inexpensive. I recommend them to everyone with hairy pets. The only thing they don’t seem to work well on is clothing. Important to make the click-clack sound as you use it, initially I wasn’t and thought the unit was pretty average till I changed my technique. They make a long handle version that isn’t as good but I’m led to believe that there is new design about to hit the market that should address the design flaws. Very interested in your vacuum though. Was very impressive at picking up the dog hair in one pass. I have 2 older (about 10 year) Dyson models that both really struggle and require constant follow ups. Have you seen some of the new Shark models with their pet hair rollers? They aren’t available in a Australia and I’m considering import one with a step down transformer.

If you use the broom like a push broom, it works better than pulling it toward you. I have a silicone broom for my extra long human hair to prevent my vacuum from burning up and it does pick up well. It's also a great scrub brush for tile and less textured concrete.

Anyone with a shedding dog or cat needs a good pet hair vacuum period! Something like this might be useful for traveling, but otherwise use the vacuum! I have the furremover, and it works well on carpet- mainly if the hair is kind of worked into the carpet a bit (which might be part of the issue you had: if the hair is already free of the carpet fibers, the stickiness of the rubber isn't as useful). I use it before vacuuming to keep long pet (& people) hair from building up as much on my vacuum brushroll.

10-15 years ago it was called the "One Sweep" a silicone broom that was an ASOTV product as well. That version was all black. It was actually not a bad product, but didn't fare well on cement, brick and other outside hard surfaces. The other thing about the "One Sweep" was that you actually used lighter force on it. Rubber brooms have been around for over twenty years. But as you found out, they work better on solid surfaces. The reason some people like them for animal hair is this type of broom doesn't cause refuse to fly up into the air, in other words - no dust clouds while sweeping, and thus better for people with animal allergies with dander and hair. Though the better option is the vacuum as you demonstrated. The broom is great in the woodshop though as it can move large amounts of woodchips from around the machines. The squeegee is also great for in the kitchen for help with spills. Or if you ever have a leak in the cellar and need to push the water towards a floor drain.

The only carpeted room in our house is the bedroom. Our dog literally just jumps on the bed, no where else does she touch the floor. Somehow though, I've swept up gobs of her hair from beneath the bed and just all over that carpet. *The bristles are different from this one *I think we just need a giant pet take brush for carpet lol

they work great ive had a version of that for years (i have 3, 1 for outside, 2 inside, one for upstairs and one down) also i don't use it for pet hair i use it for human hair that has fallen off and trodden into the carpets (my mum is sadly losing her hair as almost everyone of her 14 meds has hair loss as a side effect) she has hair that's down her back and using the vacuum on the carpets without brushing first means i have to dismantle the vacuum so i can cut the hair off the roller thats just blocked the intake. one thing i will say is it helps to go with the grain of your carpet just like how you were brushing your dog, go the wrong way and you will make it harder on yourself and likely push the hair into the fibers. hardwood flooring was what it was first made for as the rubber bristles dont scratch the wood.

Those ads always show pet hair on the carpet or furniture just like that, with it all sitting on top. It's pretty easy to get that kind of pet hair off stuff in general. Let that hair build up for weeks THEN try to get it off the La Z Boy recliner made of velcro like fabric with those things. My guess is it will work just as well then too.

FlyLady sells a purple version of this called the Rubba Sweepa, which is advertised as their "Rubba Scrubba" hand tool but with a long handle to be used for sweeping (needing little force to operate), scrubbing things that your mop isn't getting up on hard floors, and, like here, getting pet hair out of carpets that your vacuum misses. You can buy the head and handle separately and use multiple heads with the same handle, which for someone who buys a lot of FlyLady cleaning products is nice I suppose. We use ours (when we can find it) as a normal broom on our hard floors, for which it works well, the squeegee part on it flares out at the ends so you can use it to reach into corners that the bristles would struggle with. We don't really get the carpet pet hair claim either; it's not great for that, at least with our carpets.

I use the glove type brush in our cat and use that to clean up any tough fur in tight corners of his cat condo and etc.. it would work for carpets and furniture. You just either vacuum it or throw it away.

I have a similar product (Evriholder) which could well be from the same company. Like you, I didn't have great success on carpet but did found it did find it worked very well on vinyl and concrete. I also found with very short "choppy" strokes it worked well for cleaning the floor mat in front of our back door & in front of the sink. Both of those are on hard surfaces. Keep up the good work. Enjoy the channel.

I got the Superior Rubber Broom & Squeegee. It is good where the vacuum doesn’t reaches. Like underneath end tables and coffee table

Brooms exactly like that are not new. I have one that is at least 30 years old. I find it is best used outside, getting small amounts (1 inch or so) of snow off the cement porch / stairs / sidewalks before it freezes. Of course this won't help you in Vegas, but here in Chicago it's a godsend. Love your videos, and take care!

I got the Furemover on Amazon a long time ago before I even got a dog because my boyfriend and I have long hair and it was killing our vacuum. I use it on the carpet and it has significantly helped.

It's like a dust pan but for the fur it's a hair collector that's reuseable lol

I use a damp sponge to remove cat hair from my carpet. I vacuum first then get down on my knees and use the sponge with a fair bit of elbow grease. It’s amazing how much more it picks up than the vac. I wish I could buy a vacuum as effective - my knees aren’t going to last as long as my cat, I fear.

I bought a rubber broom head that looks almost exactly like the Furwell about 30 years ago at a home/garden show. It definitely works better on hard surfaces than carpet. The roller looks like the same materiel as the magik lint brushes advertised on TV in the 70's

I've had this kind of broom before and it's not a time saver but if you want to really get everything out it's okay. I used it mostly outside in the garage lol

that little hand held did pretty good but slowed down when it started getting saturated with hair, would be faster to just pick off the big clumps with your hand and use the little one to get the fine stuff after. a bristle broom probably would have done just as good job on hard floors. i'd say save your money on this.
