Movie Summary:
April, 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theatre, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. The soldier with the flashlight at the end is meant to symbolize Norman at the start, not willing to kill out of compassion.

Actually I think it’s more like they already knew they lost not just this encounter but throughout everywhere they were trying to occupy. They were running out of manpower that’s why they were using literal children. they had to fall back on using horses this was also bankrupting them.

@@Tankman11I honestly doubt their quality of SS troops were of good quality by that time of the war. The guy in the end looked young and probably just got drafted to be in that battalion

@@Tankman11 lot of forced drafting to fill up the ranks at the end of the war. you are absolutely right about early to mid war SS though. those guys were indoctrinated to the max.

My husband is a 19k in the Army. He is a tanker. It scares me every time I see this movie cause the tank units are one of the first units to get deployed, if we ever go to war. He's a driver and the driver holes are so tight and small . It's ridiculous. He sends me videos of them firing the tanks and its crazy. He can load the rounds in 5 seconds. You have to be quick while loading because the kickback will literally ,take your arm off. But he has made so many brothers with his platoon and the others that are in his tank with him. I also love this movie because, it shows how tight nit brothers in arms can be. It also shows how war can mess you up mentally and I could never imagine. I have so much respect for any man or woman who has fought in wars and have had experiences in battle. ❤

Only 2 things I have to say about this movie; 1) The American tanks were not outclassed as bad as the intro would make you believe, especially tanks that are the "Easy 8" model like Fury. German tanks had better armor and guns on paper; In reality they were short on steel and tungsten to make proper AP rounds. Fury, with its 76mm high velocity cannon, with HVAP ammo that EVERY AMERICAN TANK HAD, didn't need to be behind the Tiger. They would've shot smoke at him to close the distance 2)The Tiger's crew was dumb as hell, also. Didn't need to move to win that fight

Prior service member here US Army. 26:09 it’s more about being morally ambiguous you’re doing the wrong thing but for the right reason or for what you think is the right reason. So are you good or are you bad for that? God says not to kill but does that mean just don’t kill if it’s not needed or don’t kill at all?

The German who let him go shows that there are good people in the German side aswell. Now I know the guy was SS the worst of the worst, But he was a very young dude so he wasn’t corrupted or atleast yet. Showing that he was very similar to Norman. Both very young dudes who didn’t want to be there but were forced to be. So yes it was out of compassion but there was a connection between both sides of those who were forced into war yet still kept some humanity.

I'd like to theorize that while Norman may have mercy killed those 2 soldiers who were getting cooked, the human psyche has to justify killing someone to some degree just to prepare himself for the next time he'd be depended on to take another soldier's life. The next scene may undermine that thread a bit, but I think it could still stand. Great reaction brother. God bless!

I'm glad that you start watching films with message. Those soldiers were as in Private Ryan fighting for ordinary people, for those others who can't defend themselves. Who want to survive, who want to earn, who want to live. There is many films with message out there for you. Also those produced abroad. We in Poland have some war film like "Demons of War", but i understand that for channel purposes you won't publicize that. That for your own enjoyment in personal time. But for American /English viewers maybe Jarhead would be good choice. It presents army in different perspective, less romantic. And of course Mel Gibson films like Signs, Patriot, Braveheart . Greeting from Poland and God bless you Noble mention : "Shooting dogs" about genocide in Rwanda, Lord of War. Those two are sad movies. Next we have "12 angry men" brilliant low budget film but with very developed characters, "Devil's advocate" about justifying sin, "Scent of a Woman" about importance of integrity and hope, "American History X" it's about hate. "Man on Fire" it's about justice and redemption, "Requiem for a dream" obligatory option for every teenage to see about drug addiction, "Training Day" - again about integrity and to never be naive. Adam Sander's comedio drama "Click" about consequences of avoiding hard thing in life and importance of family. There is more but not English like Gibson apocalypto about never be afraid even if there is no hope. Australian "Those final hours " about people reaction to hopeless situation. Of course I like to watch movies for entertainment but those are serious films.
