would you know where the fuse at that powers the cigarette lighter outlet for the 2011 Mustang V6?
@StilesAutomotive
@StilesAutomotive Год назад
Kannarian, Yep! Ford calls it both the "Cigar Lighter, Front" and "Power Point (Instrument Panel)" which is powered by Fuse 22 (20A, Blue) in the Power Distribution Box in the Engine Compartment. Most Mustangs have a Second Power Point in the Arm Rest Console, that is Fuse 5 (20A, Blue) Power Point (Body). - Stiles

Hey actually I read all the comments but couldn't find my answer. My cigarette lighter in the middle console still works but my auxiliary isn't working. Radio is fine, CD is fine, satellite radio fine, but no aux. Would that be fuse 22 in the power distribution bro? I was actually looking at the Auxiliary Body Module thinking that was it but after searching what the ABM is I don't think that's the one lol!
@StilesAutomotive
@StilesAutomotive 3 года назад
Charles, It does seem like I've answered this question before. For the 2010 thru 2014 Mustang; Fuse 22 (20A, Blue) in the Power Distribution Box is the "PowerPoint (instrument panel)" or Cigar Lighter Front. There is a separate Fuse for the Power Point in the Arm Rest, Fuse 5 (20A, Blue) Powerpoint (Body) which is also in the Power Distribution Box in the Engine Compartment. The Powerpoint in the Arm Rest also has its own Ground Point. The Body Control Module controls the Rear Lights (Tail Light Parking Lamps, Turn Signals, Backup Lights . . . ). Are you talking about the Auxiliary Port to the Stereo? - Stiles

@StilesAutomotive
@StilesAutomotive Год назад
Going, The test light I'm referring to is a very simple one ( I normally use a multimeter) that just has a light in it. It tells you if there is voltage only (see Item 1 below). There are other Test Lights that are nicer and indicate voltage (see Item 2 below) and some that indicate continuity. If you are going to spend any more than about $20, you might as well by a cheap Multimeter. But, Test Lights and tough and have there place, they are simple and handy. I have a 2012 mustang gtcs my wipers and washer operate when i first start the car but as soon as i take off they stop functioning.. checked all my fuses and relays any ideas on what might be the problem?
@StilesAutomotive
@StilesAutomotive 3 года назад
Jeovani, It's hard to believe a '12 Mustang is getting old, but it is happening. Or, is there something more going on, did your Mustang experience an accident? You are correct an intermittent electrical problem is not normally a Fuse or Relay. The Army taught me intermittent problems are often grounds (you have several: 1) at the Power Distribution Panel (in Engine Compartment), 2) at the Windshield Washer Pump, 3) at the Multifunction Switch, and 4) at the Windshield Wiper Motor). Grounds 1 and 2 are very unlikely the problem, 3 and 4 possible. Second, a broken Wire, internal Copper Wire broken inside the insulation. Check the Wiring Harnesses, pay close attention at the base of the Steering Column and the Firewall penetration (this is more possible if the Mustang was in an accident). Last and the most likely is a bad Windshield Wiper Motor or Multifunction Switch. Do either of these get hot at all? Here is an idea that may be worth a try, the Windshield Wiper Motor has an Electronic Board in it to control the Wiper speeds/intermittent Wipers, Zero your Mustang's Computer by disconnecting the Battery Cables at the Battery and touching them together for 10 seconds. I'd be surprised if this works, but it doesn't cost you anything but time to reset your Radio. Let me know how it goes! - Stiles

Should you disconnect the battery before you switch a fuse out?
@StilesAutomotive
@StilesAutomotive 8 месяцев назад
Lance, If you watch my videos, you know I'm not a big fan of removing Battery Terminals for maintenance tasks. However, for Air Bag System work and tasks similar to the Live Battery Cable on the Starter for Starter Replacement, I always do. Ford says to disconnect the Battery before "servicing high current Fuses", like the ones in the Power Distribution Box in the Engine Compartment. Most Circuits are turned "off" with the Ignition Switch, so most are not energized anyway when replacing Fuses, so I don't disconnect the Battery. Most of the High Current Fuses, just mentioned are Hot, On, Energized, all of time. - Stiles

Hi and help! My brother locked his keys inside of a running 2014 Mustang and we’re trying to get in through the trunk because nothing seems to work and we are out of ideas. Is there any way to pop the trunk from under the hood? He got the hood up, and he’s confused on wether or not pulling a certain fuse will help.
@StilesAutomotive
@StilesAutomotive 3 года назад
Aimhigh, At this point (13 hours from when you added the comment) you have either got into the car or run out of gas. Removing a Fuse would not help unlock the door. I would unlock the door by pushing the Unlock Button on either the Driver's Door or Passenger's Door. Here is how, I would use a Metal Wire Coat Hanger, straighten it out, gently pull the top of the Window away from the Window Seal, put 2 pieces of something thin (it you have it) on either side of you opening, use the Coat Hanger to fish in and push the Lock/Unlock Bottom. A second option is to call a Tow Truck, the Tow Truck Driver often will have a Kit to open Car Doors for a small fee. Some day, when we share a frosty beverage together, I'll tell you a story of a similar situation, only under worse conditions. Opening a K-car in Western North Dakota in -30 degree weather. A Zoomie should appreciate that! Let me know how it goes! - Stiles

@@StilesAutomotive , my brother was able to turn off the car before he wasted all of his gas (he used up 20 miles worth) by pulling a fuse, and we managed to get through the window with a wire tool and were able to pull the lock up. Thanks for the advice, it came in really handy (we left it locked overnight and got it open the next morning)! And that sounds like an interesting story that makes for a good fireside tale. Hello! I have a 2014 mustang. so i recently enabled mykey by accident and wanted to turn off my traction/abs so i took the fuse 34 out for a couple of months.. now that i finally got my disabled, i put the fuse back in and it did not work, i even bought another 5A rating fuse for it? The abs lights and traction controls light won’t turn back off… is it because i got the wrong fuse ? is it another fuse interjecting this issue? or is it bc my car needs to be back to stock ? please help
@StilesAutomotive
@StilesAutomotive Год назад
Leon, Yep, the Traction Control Circuit is Fused by Fuse 36 (5A, Tan), Passive anti-theft system (PATS), Instrument Panel Custer (IPC) in the Passenger Compartment Fuse Panel, don't put anything but a 5A Fuse back in there. Interesting, you should have lost many other systems when you removed this Fuse. You may have confused your Mustang's Computer by getting something out of sequence. I'd try removing the Negative Battery Terminal (ok, since I don't know you), remove both Battery Terminals and touch them together for 10 seconds, this will zero out or return your Computer's Memory to OEM Stock Defaults. Now is a good time to Clean and Service your Battery, see video link below. Very informative, Stiles. Thanks! And you're the perfect person to ask then! I've got the fuse diagrams for both fuse boxes (2006 GT). I'm mainly just not sure exactly which fuse is ACC (planning on hardwiring a dashcam). So what I do know is: the red wire goes to a 12v permanent supply 61 or 64? (one of the two cig lighter fuses), the black ground goes to, well, a ground (I hope there's one near or inside the fuse box? there's 3 bolt looking things in the fuse box) and the yellow goes to ACC...is this the accessory delay fuse? Number 44? I'm very new to this. Any help would be appreciated. And then when using a piggyback, do I put the same amperage fuse in each slot? I understand the original fuse goes at the bottom, and the new device's fuse goes at the top. 2006 GT
@StilesAutomotive
@StilesAutomotive Год назад
J Jappie, Yes, Fuse 44 (10A, Red) Delay Accessory in the Engine Compartment Power Distribution Box, however, I working hard to figure out how you want to wire the Dashcam. Since you talk about it so much, you probably want it on the switched On-Delay Circuit, so that the Dashcam turns off 15 or 20 minutes after the Key Ignition Switch is turned off, so the Dashcam doesn't drain your Battery. Sure, Fuse 44 powers this circuit, but is not the switched power. You want Fuse 6 (5A, Tan) Accessory Delay Feeds in the Passenger Compartment Fuse Panel (which is part of the Smart Junction Box (SJB)), the Delay Relay is also part of the SJB. Verify me work here, by measuring voltage at Fuse 6: 1) with the Key Off (No Voltage), 2) with Key on (Battery Voltage, 11 or greater Volts), and 2) with Key Off and wait for Delay to time out (No Voltage again). Here is the rule of thumb when adding additional load to an OEM Circuit (And I trust this with Ford Vehicles!). Engineers like to over size everything by 10% or more, so it is save to add 10% load to a circuit. If you are using one of those Add-on, (you said piggyback, good description) or "Add-a-Circuit" Fuses, at Fuse 6 (at SJB), you are not adding load to Fuse 6 but you are adding load to the Fuse 44 (10A, Red). 10 percent of 10A is 1 amp. I would think your Dashcam would not use much more than this, if it does consider using a Relay (I put a link to a helpful video below). In the Voltage Gauges Video below, I powered the Gauge like you would power the Dashcam. Let me know how it goes! - Stiles Why use a Relay and 3 Ways to Connect a Relay - - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CJQcPK4lU-g.html How to make a better connection with a cheap crimp connector (either Female Disconnector or Ring Terminal).- - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I2KT5ZQy1vk.html Voltage Gauges with USB Ports Installation. - - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aBE0PUQCh-Q.html

@@StilesAutomotive hi Stiles. Thanks for the informative reply and relay videos! The instruction manual states the following: 1. Connect the power cable (red) to the regular electric fuse with an output voltage of 12-30V and output current of 2.4 inside the fuse box; 2. Connect the ACC signal cable (yellow) to the ACC power fuse inside the fuse box; 3. Connect the ground wire (black) to the negative terminal or ground of the fuse box. The idea is to be able to use parking surveillance mode (the camera detects physical movement of itself while the car is parked). ..inside the engine compartment fuse box I've tested all fuses, and even an entire half an hour after switching off the engine, all fuses are still recieving 12v electricity. So while waiting for your reply, I've connected the hardwire kit in the following manner: Used 64 'Powerpoint#2' for red wire, used 68 'ignition' for ACC yellow wire ..changed the settings in the cam to auto-off but it still comes on by itself from time to time.. Now with regards to the SJB passenger compartment...I can confirm fuse 6 is switched (thank you for helping me solve this mystery!!). Is there another fuse in the SJB which is permanently on? Then I can use SJB fuse 6 and whatever other fuse in the SJB which permanently receives power P.S I've subscribed and will be sharing your channel with other people!

LOVES, Upon reading your first post, this is my thought. If problem started after Alternator Replacement (unlikely, you probably replaced due to problem) possible bad Diode in New Alternator even thou it is new. Your second post . . . Do you have an aftermarket (added on) Anti-Theft Alarm or Remote Start System? This could cause your problem. Do you know if you have Daytime Running Lights (DRL) it is optional on your Mustang. The DRL Module could be bad. Or more likely your Anti-Theft Control Module is turning the lights on and off. But, why? And why only intermittently each 6 days? After thinking about it, the TSB below makes some sense now. I looked for a Ford Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) on your issue and did not find one on your Battery Drain (or parasitic loss). I did find several that are related, since they read the same here is one - - EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS; TSB #TSB-08-9-2 FORD: UN-COMMANDED PERIMETER LIGHTING. VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT UN-COMMANDED PERIMETER LIGHTING FEATURE (HEAD, PARK AND SIDE MARKER LAMPS) DUE TO WATER INDUCED SHORT TO GROUND IN THE DOOR DISARM SWITCH. I don’t think the Anti-Theft Control Module is bad, it would do it all the time. Do you know if it is possible one of your Sensors in the Doors or Trunk Lid is getting wet? You do have a 2007 Convertible, is the Top or Door Window Seals leaking a little water? Does this problem happen after it rains? Or after car wash days? I don’t have anything you can do to help us determine the problem, you need someone to work thru the problem. Whatever is determined, I want you to have the Service Technician “clean all of the related grounds” to the component that is at fault. They may not do this, and as your Mustang ages it will insure grounds are not an issue. Let me know how it goes! - Stiles

@StilesAutomotive
@StilesAutomotive 3 года назад
Jonathan, Yep, you should check the power to the device connector prior to replacing it. Passenger Compartment Fuse Panel (in the Passenger Side Kick Panel, like I show in the video) check Fuse 17 (20A, Yellow) Power door locks, Trunk release, reference your 2011 Mustang Owner's Manual (see link below), Pages 226 thru 228. Fuse 17 also powers the Door Locks, do your Power Door Locks work? If so Fuse 17 is ok. The clicking sound you hear from the Passenger Compartment Fuse Panel is the Truck Lease Relay, which is good you hear the relay. The connector at the Luggage Compartment Lid Release Solenoid is a 4-pin connector, in addition to power, the connector has 2 wires, one for the Luggage Compartment Lamp, and one for the Trunk Ajar indication on the dash. You need to verify power to Pin 3, when you press your remote button 2-times or have a buddy press the Trunk Release Button near the shifter. And verify a good ground at Pin 4. My 2013 (which is probably the same as your Mustang) has a Brown/with Blue Stripe Wire to Pin 3 and a Black/with White Stripe Wire from Pin 4. My '14 horn intermittently works, any idea what it would be? Fuse is fine
@StilesAutomotive
@StilesAutomotive Год назад
Kevin, The circuit is a simple circuit, but could have been simpler. It uses a NonServicable Relay in the Smart Junction Box (SJB). The Passenger Compartment Fuse Panel (shown in the video) is located on (or is part of) the SJB. The Fuse you said is ok, (Fuse 24 (20A, Yellow) Horn, Horn Relay) is not the problem on an intermittent fault. The Horn Switch (on Steering Wheel) may be the problem, but not so likely. The Horn Switch is connected to the Mustang thru a Clockspring. Do the Lights and other Switches on the Steering Wheel work ok? If not, your Horn problem points to the Clockspring. The Horn itself: likely the problem. Has your Mustang been in a front-end accident? Is the Horn Electrical Connector corroded? Check the Horn Wires for breaks and abrasions. Remove and clean the Horn Grounding Point. First, get a helper to press, hold, press the Horn Switch, while you hold your hand on the Passenger Compartment Fuse Panel. Feel and listen for the Horn Relay to click. Second, remove the Horn Electrical Connector, and check for voltage when the Horn Switch is pressed by your helper using a Test Light or Multimeter. This is the non-Black Wire (or Ground Wire) (Actually the Ground wire is Black with a Yellow stripe and the Positive Horn Wire is Yellow with a Red Stripe). Let me know how it goes! - Stiles

Hey whay fuse or relay is for the radiator fan it doesn’t turn on sometimes and causes the car to overheat its a 2014 mustang
@StilesAutomotive
@StilesAutomotive 3 года назад
Jonathan, there is a Fuse for your Fan, however if it comes on intermittently it is not the Fuse that is your problem. (The Cooling Fan Fuse is Fuse 7 (40A, Green) in the Power Distribution Box (shown in the video) under the hood.) You have 2 Cooling Fan Relays in your Mustang, one of them maybe bad. Relay 50 Cooling fan relay (high) and Relay 55 Cooling fan relay (low) both of these Relays are located in the Power Distribution Box in the engine compartment - Stiles

Sir great channel thank you for everything you’re doing I just recently found your channel and looks like I’m going to be spending a lot of time I’m working on a 2014 Mustang it was a V6 my son and I bought a 2010 GT that was wrecked we took the motor out of it and put it in the 14 do you have any recommendations for wiring? It is the 4.6L that we put into the 2014. And the only reason we done it that away was because we had the donor car if you could help out with any of the wiring that would definitely be great for any recommendations
@StilesAutomotive
@StilesAutomotive 3 года назад
Billy, You got lucky or made a wise choice, meaning you picked two good years of Mustangs. The 2010 and the 2014 Mustang are very compatible for wiring. You may already know this, but I want to remind you how good of selection you made. The fifth generation S-197 body style Mustang was made from 2005 through 2014. For the 2005 through 2010 production years the GT used an aluminum block 4.6 L single overhead cam three valve modular V8 with variable Cam shaft timing VCT, that was revised for 2010 resulting in 315 hp, while earlier years produced 300 hp. (I wish you had a 5.0L donor car, producing 412 hp (for 2011 or more for other years) and 390 ft-lbs of torque) The 2010 model year Mustang with a redesigned interior which also included a redesign of the electrical Wiring Harness and Fuse Panels, Ford added things like the sequential LED tail lights, but I think what Ford was really doing is preparing the S-197 to receive the 5.0 L Engine the next year. With all of that said, here’s my recommendation, that you go online and purchase both Ford manuals, the 2010 Mustang Wiring Diagrams and the 2014 Mustang Wiring Diagrams. I think you’ll find that they are very similar, but you’ll be able to determine differences, if any, for your project. Let me know how it goes! - Stiles They can be found at the following website for the company that publishes the Ford manuals www.helminc.com/ www.helminc.com/helm/Result.asp?Style=helm&Mfg=FMC&Make=FRD&Model=MUST&Year=2010&Category=&Keyword=&Module=&selected%5Fmedia=

@@Theferg1 I thought of a few things after I gave the last comment: 1) as you get ready to junk or scrap or sell your donor car, be sure to remove as many fasteners as you can, within reason of course. When I rebuild an engine, are use ARP fasteners, but I always like to keep the old fasteners, they always come in handy. Often times fasteners on the body of a car are extremely hard to find, you can’t find them in the parts store and it seems like when you need some fastener it’s been taken off the car already at the salvage yard. Keeping fasteners is always a good idea. 2) Record the work you do including part numbers and other information that either you may forget in the future or if someone else is working on the car may need in the future. I think it adds Thousands of dollars worth of value to the car. What I’m talking about is a maintenance log book, take a look at my video: Car Maintenance Log Book (Why you need to keep one) - - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1yIke4uNL2U.html 3) similar to the maintenance logbook ideal of recording your work. When you get the two Ford shop manual wiring diagram books that I suggested you buy in the first comment. Those books belong to you, they’re not library books, I suggest you write in them. Mark up the wiring diagrams with any changes you made to the wiring harnesses. Or make copies of the pages, cut them up and combined them together to show where you spliced the 2010 wiring harness to the 2014 wiring harness. Again so you have a record of what you did and to help you do troubleshooting in the future. Now that you are experienced, when you head to the auction, consider buying a totaled GT500 and doing a GT500 clone car, that would be a good project. Back in 1987, I bought a totaled '84 Mustang SVO, I used a number of parts on my '79 Mustang, which I still have today. The '84 thru '86 SVO was only produced in a hatch back. I regret not keeping the whole car, buying an '84 convertible and making a convertible '84 SVO. - Stiles

@StilesAutomotive
@StilesAutomotive 3 года назад
The Horn circuit is simple, or I should say 2 circuits. At the Passenger Compartment Fuse Panel there is a Fuse and Horn Relay (Not Serviceable). Fuse 24 (20A, Yellow) Horn, is the Horn Fuse that you should check continuity thru, it may not look blown. The Coil side of the Horn Relay goes thru the Steering Wheel Clock Spring and thru the Horn Switch in the Steering Wheel, then back thru the Clock Spring to ground. The switched side of the Horn Relay simply goes to the Horn. I'd check that Horn Fuse again and while you are down there have someone press the Horn Button on the Steering Wheel and feel & listen for the activation of the Horn Relay. You may have a Horn Relay, Clockspring, Horn Switch, or Horn defective. You can test the Horn by powering it from the Car Battery. Let me know how it goes! - Stiles

The 2010 Mustang is special, although it still has the 4.6L Engine (like the 2005 thru 2009, but more horsepower for 2010), it has a redesign interior and redesigned Electrical System (like the 2011 thru 2014 Mustangs). If you pause the video C2280A is the gray connector on the left-side of the screen and you can see the White/Red Wire in the top/right of the connector. Probe it and make sure it has 12 V. You can add about 10% or 2 amps of load to this circuit, I would think, and be fine. If you need more power than that, run a new wire from the Battery. Geez Steve, that sounds like a bad Wire or loose Connection. Or, maybe your Antenna Connections need to be cleaned. Just reaching here, but going further, there are little Capacitors on different systems, like on your Antenna Wire, Coils, etc. That is a tough question to troubleshoot in a text message. Sir, what Fuse is for the DRL Strips on a 2013-2014 mustang? One of the two led strips in my headlight is not working on the passenger side of my 2014 mustang. Is there a problem in Fuse you think? Trying so hard to find an answer, I dont want to replace the whole headlight, so expensive. Does the led have a bulb?
@StilesAutomotive
@StilesAutomotive 3 года назад
Joseph, No, I don't think your problem is a Fuse, if it was a Fuse both on that side and both on the other side . . .and the Rear Parking Lights would be out. I believe you are right, you need a new Headlight Assembly. No, no bulb or element to replace, I think it is molded in. I haven't heard any specific problem, but you should look at your Headlight Assembly to determine if you can see a problem with it. I'd like to know what you find. - Stiles

Hey man I hope for a response here, I’m simply needing to wire in a lc2 to a constant 12v supply. I was wanting to wire that into the inside fuse box. Any ideas on a fuse spot that can produce that cleanly ?
@StilesAutomotive
@StilesAutomotive 3 года назад
Justin, I admit I don't know that much about you LC2 Audio Component, I thick it is just a splitter that separates out the bass (on one side) and everything else (on the other). It doesn't have an amp in it, does it? I want you to understand the power requirement. I think the LC2 has a very low power requirement and I would splice into an easy to find Stereo Power Circuit. At the Fuse Panel in the interior passenger compartment (I show in the video) use Fuse 39 ( 20A, yellow) Radio / Navigation, this is "Hot at all times" for the Radio Power. Look at my video and pause at 7:49. You easily splice (see my video on wire splicing) into this circuit at Connector C2280A, Pin 1 or the White Wire with Red Stripe. Don't power Amplifiers and other high power draw stuff from this circuit. Let me know how it goes! - Stiles

MAJ Media, Sir, help me help you. The "4th Fuse" doesn't make sense. You mean it is the 4th time you blew it out? Fuse 4 at the Passenger Compartment Fuse Panel (in the Kick Panel) is the Interior Lamps. It sounds like you mean, Fuse 7 (7.5 Amp, Brown) Power Mirror Switch, Memory Seat Module. You figured out not to put a bigger fuse in the location that is blowing out; yep, don't do that. It sounds like you have a dead short, either in the Wiring Harness to the Memory Seat Module or something bad in Memory Seat Module. The Memory Seat Module is often located under the Seat, I think it is in your Truck. Did you store something under the seat and damage the Wiring Harness to the Module? Anyway, look and smell for burnt and melted wires under your seat and trace those Module Wiring Harness back to the Passenger Compartment Fuse Panel looking for shorted areas of the Harness. Reference your 2014 Ford F-150 Raptor Owner's Manual, Page 230, for fuse information. Let me know if I'm talking about the wrong Fuse. - Stiles

@StilesAutomotive
@StilesAutomotive 3 года назад
MAJ Media, That sounds like a good plan, also when doing what you mentioned, disconnecting the Wiring Harnesses, if you use a Multimeter to continuity check to ground on Wires that should not go to ground. But, do this too - visually inspect (and smell) the Wiring Harnesses and that Memory Seat Module, look for melted plastic. Look for areas where the Harness lays on top of sharp edges, under the Seat, under and thru the Console, and in the Dash (center and behind the Glove Compartment). Are you sure something didn't get pushed under the seat and damage the Wires at the Memory Seat Module? Make sure you look at the Module and smell it, I'd bet you a Frosty Beverage . . . your problem is the Module or the Connector (and Wiring) going into the Module. - Stiles I don't know how to show you a picture of the Module, here is a Ford Website that has your Module (don't know if this is a good place to purchase or not, just using it to show you the Module) - - www.villagefordparts.com/oem-parts/ford-module-bb5z14c708a?c=bD0yJm49U2VhcmNoIFJlc3VsdHM%3D Put your VIN into this website and see if you have any Ford F-150 Recalls on this issue. - - owner.ford.com/tools/account/maintenance/recalls.html

Long winded and panel didn't match my box on the 2007

Ok, locations are the same, Power Distribution Box (front right side of engine compartment) and Passenger Compartment Fuse Panel ( lower passenger side area behind the kick panel). Being long winded, helps people reference their Owner's Manual Fuses and Relays Section. In the case of the 2007 Ford Mustang, see pages 176 thru 181. - Stiles
