A very good video review and explanation. Thank you. There are two color options available: asphalt gray and bright orange. Is there a specific reason you prefer the gray?
Thank you sm for the help! Really appreciate it. Well, it looks like my fault is mechanical; already made a voltage drop test, bench tested the starter and everything is in great shape.
Good video. Just a note to everyone watching, that left side rear deck hanger bracket is really bent due to age/time, which will cause the deck to sag and cut unevenly. That bracket needs to be bent back straight/level with a pry bar when the deck is removed from the mower. I've been using one of these slt1554 cubs since 2006 and it's a real workhorse!
Gary, Nope, not necessary. You only get the Transmission Fluid in the Lines and Cooler, the Transmission pumps the Fluid thru the System. However, when doing this work, now would be a great time to service/change the Transmission Filter and Fluid. - Stiles
@@StilesAutomotive I bought a used car. 125,000 miles. Trans fluid was never changed. Got a new pan and filter. They replaced 6 quarts. I am now kicking myself for not changing the cooler lines. They are rusty. I will go in soon. I just don't want my trans to start slipping if they change too much fluid too soon. Parts are ordered and are going to the dealer. I guess everything will be ok. Thank you for your response.
Mine just cranks but slowly. What could I possibly check? I already jumped the positive and negative sides of my starter, also benched my starter out the car and it's OK, but still nothing.
Evan, the first thing is ensure you have a good Battery and it is fully charged. My Stiles Automotive Video, Charging and Starting Systems Troubleshooting may help you (see link below) - Stiles Charging & Starting Systems Troubleshooting: Engine Fails to Crank or Cranks Slow, May or Not Click ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-POAIX4QaEhA.html
How do you get the hose off the brakes after the line is loosened ? My brisket is still on and seems there a Clio or something! How the heck. Tryi g ti take the caliper and line off together
Mick, I not sure what you mean, here. At the Caliper there is a Banjo Bolt. Its Head is like the Head of a Normal Bolt, but the Banjo Bolt allows Brake Fluid to flow thru it. Just remove it like at Normal Bolt. I have other Stiles Automotive Video, which show Caliper replacement. - Stiles
Sir, thank you so much for posting this awesome video. Our 16 Jeep Grand Cherokee is throwing evap codes and this is the cheapest way to start my hunt for what may be causing them. Hopefully it's just dirty and a good cleaning will help.❤
Tracie, Yep this video may help, there are other reason for the Fault Codes, like Hose and Line leak (normally) under the Hood in the Engine Compartment, but this is an easy place to start and something you should do periodically anyway! - Stiles
Good work. To make things go easier for you , take a floor jack and raise from the front bumper on the 1054, slide it on a concrete floor and lower the front, makes positioning the deck so much easier.
WD 40 is a good idea, I would also use a rag soaked in diesel, it makes a good lubricant, same with brake fluid, I use brake fluid to remove rusty bolts and nuts, it works great.
Super video, one of the most precise straight forward presentations I’ve seen on YT with none of the unnecessary chatter and comments, just gets on with it for folk that are already good mechanics just need the sequence of the procedures. This gentleman is impeccably detailed from start to finish..
Anon, Wow, its true then, great minds think alike. The same thought occurred to me. I think, but have not verified: 1) a second Vestibule (the same 6P Vestibule) may work 180 degrees out from the original Vestibule using 550 cord to help anchor the tiedown points. However, the second Vestibule would likely bunch up over the Main Tent Door area. and 2) I believe a 2nd Vestibule could easily be taken apart and sewn to the original Vestibule to make a double Vestibule. (I can sew but not that good). 3) You would also have to figure out the Pole area over the Main Tent Door you may need another Pole to give the 2nd Vestibule shape. Let me know if you try it, and how it goes! - Stiles
Rextruh, Maybe, if the Quick Disconnect was brand new and easy to actuate, you could a thin piece of plastic rolled into a cylinder. But, the Cooler Line Tool Lisle 39660 1/2" x 3/8" is $10 on Amazon (this is a link to an Amazon Page: amzn.to/3m9eeQ2 ) and you can purchase locally at most Parts Stores. - Stiles
Hello and thanks for the helpful video. Just got our tent but have learned that the footprint for it is no longer made! arg. Also, the free soldier tarp link also says out of stock. Any recommendations here? Thank you.
Amy, You are welcome! Ok, that is bad news about the North Face Footprint. I do have a recommendation, it's not lightweight, but neither is the Wawona 6P. I haven't bought one, but have considered the Amazon Basics Camping Tarps. I think if you just search Amazon for Tent Footprint, the Tarps come up. I appreciate the comment! - Stiles
NHBuddy, I don't think it would hurt your Tractor, if it fits. I don't see anything in the Cub Cadet: Owner's or Service Manuals about interchangeability of Mower Decks. The Deck Belt routing Diagram in the Owner's manual is for both the 50 in and 54 in Decks, which gives hope that it would fit. I put a link to my Video on Sticker Locations which gives links to the Manuals, below. I cut and pasted the little bit of information from the Service Manuals on Decks, below (Not helpful). Let me know how it goes! - Stiles Data Plate and Sticker Location, Determine Manufacture Year, Model & Serial Numbers, Cub Cadet Tractor. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AZkyspJ-iuE.html 1.6. @@StilesAutomotive Thanks, I appreciate it. As it turns out, he has a 50 inch deck, that I'll likely buy for a back up.. Have you seen any decent videos regarding changing the hydrolic oil in the transmission? From what I've seen, I'm pretty sure I will have to drop it out of the tractor on the model SLT 1550. Pretty sure yours is identical. Thanks again!
You're crazy even though they double Irene um meeting in China.I don't know about that. They're very scary over there.Kids, you get Bosh.American made Bosh spurt clubs.Because if not , I don't care , I think i'm still getting american made spark plugs
on the other hand you should have utilized UHMW flanged bushings where NO lube produkt would be called for........ [ a much cleaner & longer lasting approach]
Trallvarg, Yep, True UHMW material would have worked good in this application, this has very low forces for the size of Bushing. Of course the bronze will last a long time too, even if you are washing the Wagon and washing the Grease out of the Bushing. You can easily hit each Bushing with a drop of Oil. I don't wash the Wagon that often and I have not relubed them. I appreciate the comment, and hope that it helps someone else out in the future! - Stiles
@@StilesAutomotive the WEAK point of that steering assemby is the yoke that is essentially "glorified sheet metal av some thickness", impregnated bushings don't utilize grease but usually oil as the "lube" agent. grease absorbs water where OIL DOES NOT and grease literally klogs the nano pores of those said type bearings. "Teflon bushings are a good choice for applications where self-lubrication, temperature resistance, and wear resistance are important factors, while bronze bushings are a good choice for heavy-duty applications where high load capacity is needed" ....... "Teflon Bushing has been proven to last longer than oil-impregnated sintered bronze bearings, saving users up to 60% in maintenance costs.Teflon Bushing has replaced bronze in thousands of applications in a wide variety of industries, including agricultural machinery, lawn mowers, medical equipment, food processing machinery, fitness equipment, and pumps and valves." .......... "Teflon Bushing material can also withstand high temperatures and high load carrying for up to short periods of time. Other benefits include low wear rates, quiet operation, high load capacity, and resistance to chemicals, dust, UV and corrosion. A wide variety of Teflon Bushing bushing materials are available to meet the requirements of virtually any application." ........ PLUS, anyone talented with a lathe & having access to PTFE roll stock kan produce desired bushings to spec while avoiding the loss of the scrap steel utilized in the fabrication of those tabs welded to the bent 5/8 roll stock. ........
FW, Good point, and if you should wear a Mask working with a Powder, you should wear Gloves, or at else wash you Hands prior to touching your face. I appreciate the comment! - Stiles
Miguel, If you replace your Transmission Cooler with an OEM (Ford) Style replacement, you don't need to purge the Cooler. When you run the Transmission it will pump Fluid thru the Cooler and purge itself. You do need to check the Transmission Fluid level several times to ensure it is not low. - Stiles
TyAnna, I appreciate the feedback! Ford uses 2 sizes, 3/8" for all F-150s and some Super Duty's (I say Super Duty, but it is mainly the older F-250s) and 1/2" for Most Super Duty's. - Stiles
Phillip, You bought a 100 Bearings? Are you doing this modification for other people or many Tractors? I hope you are not wearing them out and needing to replace them on one Tractor. - Stiles
Thanks a lot for your review! I'm curious about the color of the mesh. It looks very yellow in pictures and videos. When you're in the tent and looking up out of the mesh, say, at the sky, does it make everything outside look yellow or is it more clear? I'm wondering if it's just the camera that's picking up a lot of color making it look more yellow than it is. Thanks!
Heart, You are welcome! Well, no, it is very yellow looking thru the mesh. True, it may be different looking thru it with the lights off at night to view the stars, I've just used the Tent with the Rain Fly on and I don't know. - Stiles
got code p0446 - 2019 f150 with just 18 k miles on it. will attempt this method - and see what happens.. Was life simpler - when we just had a 1966 f150 - with none of these great fail safes - and warning lights - i'm starting to think so.
Am pleased to know that important car problems can be explained in video forms which highly educative and useful to laymen like me. Thanks to the instructions you give us. Amen.
Changed ignition coils, carb, spark plugs, air filter, and head gaskets and still getting white smoke it looks like its coming from the exhaust, also the exhaust turned red hot. Running lean? Maybe needs adjustment of the carb fuel mixture. What do you think could be the issue?
Mayo, You leave me with a few questions. First of all, "white smoke" is normally water or coolant, this is an air cooled Engine, which makes me think, excess Fuel. If you are burning Engine Oil, it would be darker, blacker, or grey. What does it smell like, Gas, Oil, Water? 2) When you replaced the Head Gaskets, did you see a bad spot like I show in my Video? So you know there was a problem with the old Gasket? Are the Spark Plugs fouling out? Is water getting into your Muffler? 3) Yes, running lean will cause your Exhaust to be hotter, also if your Camshaft timing is off. Let me know how it goes! - Stiles
Vince, That's true Transmission Fluid will soften rubber, but it also degrades the rubber. I'm not sure what the Old School Belt Dressing is made from, but I bet it is similar, it softens the rubber of the Belt. After 18 years, new tires are the way to go for my Tractor. - Stiles
Great instructional video! It took me 9 hours to do it mostly because of the bolts that are under the engine. Would have taken forever and probably would have paid someone to do it without this video. Thanks!
Gridlockin', This is what Ford recommends - Engine coolant - Motorcraft® Orange Antifreeze/Coolant Prediluted, Ford Part Number VC-3DIL-B (US) & CVC-3DIL-B (Canada) / WSS-M97B44-D2 Also note that it is not recommended to mix different color (types) of coolant. - Stiles Coolant Capacity by Engine 3.7L engine: 12.4 quarts (11.7L) 5.0L engine: 13.0 quarts (12.3L) 5.0L engine with Track Pack: 15.2 quarts (14.4L)
Sogent56, You may have a "Cranks, but won't start" condition, but your Fuel System is different. You have a Fuel Pressure Regulator which controls the fuel pressure. - Stiles
