Thank you so much! I read the instructions, but they were sparse and the interfacing didn't "stick" very well. Now I know to spray with a lil water and to turn over and iron the other side as well to ensure maximum adhesion!

Thanks Renée for this video on fusible lining!! I stitch little zippered fabric pouches for give aways. So far, I never managed to make the fusible stick to the cotton cloth, no matter how much I tried !! So I started using sponge instead. But I will try your method today. Hope it works well !!

Just this week I have been interface shopping. There is so darn much out there it is very confusing. But, I think I finally made a few decisions. I do know that you have to use interfacing that matches the fabric and use, so for a knit you would use a non-woven knit type. I plan on staying away from woven since you have to match grain with them, I will use the non-woven on all fabric I intend to fuse. Nice job with the interface explanation.

Okay my new best friend Renee!!! I just ordered it from Joann .com ....The 10 yard bolt, Pellon 809. It was just like you said cost wise. I paid $24.99 for the ten yards I bought two bolts. It should be here by Friday .... I will keep you posted. I will also let you know when our gal day is for me and my friends to make some bags from your videos.... I know I will do the drop in lining one, that one is just so darling and a lil box make up bag. I know that two of my friends will be doing your zippered totes. You feel better BTW.... I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me with this. I look forward to buying one of your bags too. All my best, you friend Lisa (Li Li)

Thank you. This helped me a lot. I tried ironing the interfacing by putting a damp piece of cloth between my iron and it. the interfacing didn't stick at all I was wondering what I had done wrong. For your instructions I ironed directly onto the interfacing and it stuck to the fabric beneath perfectly.

Renee, you are an amazing person...for so many reasons..... People are creatures of habit, selfish, it is a normal trait.... its called "Self preservation" ...coming from our instinct to survive..... "Caveman days." Women, are naturally jealous of other women....looking at what the other gal has, or thinks they have.... men/clothes/smarts or ideas...etc. Lol, I have done it.....not being mean tho. The great gals like you and me can see beyond that, we were the lucky ones to have "Evolved" Lol! You are so not selfish, my dear. You give us your... Expertise... Knowledge... Kindness... Your time... You are a gentle soul, yes ...tho can be pushed, but can contain herself... but come on....the whole clean the bathroom thing... I will not go down that road.... your boss (ex boss) could have been sued, and brought up on dept of labor charges..... but I will not go there.... The other girl, well she simply felt threatened, she's stupid, because if she has to "Display" her fear of you, by showing her supossed dominace or superiority.... she is a very insecure little girl, I feel sad for her...she was not raised well by her parents. That girl has issues with herself and no one else....to throw people off track and not to see her malfunctions.....she pushes a public display using another person, made to feel or making them "think" that she is better. Making them, (so SHE thinks , she is making them feel lower) so she floats around in a golden unbreakable bubble ...... she's stupid and being so young, she will crash hard. Good parents raise their children To be proud of who they are, as an individual.....not as a group in a pecking order ....such as a bunch of hens...clucking aroung in an office. You stood out, so they hen pecked you.... "pluck them" lol. Renee, in that case....let sleeping dogs (Bitches....lol female dogs...lol) lye.... you will find another job.... A better job, even if its a temp....because in this life it matters that if you fall down (knocked down/pushed...etc) five times you get up six. You vent(vlog), and its good to do so, as so many of us wish we could...you do it for us.... Renee,that makes you brave. You are a hero, to your kids, and your subscribers...and people like me. Don't EVER let anyone else tell you, or make you feel otherwise. I have been watching your vlogs and check each day for a new video or vlog from you....and will continue to do so. You are my hero, my friend, my teacher.... Always, Lisa

Sooooo I finally got my Joanns order of the Pellon. What am I doing wrong? Do you use a dry iron with the spray bottle or use the irons steam setting? It sticks in some places and pulls off in another. Am I over doing it? Does the shiney stuff wear off with too much heat or water.... the fabric was pretty wet in places.... Grrrrrrrr. I am going to re watch the video again right now. BTW Renne, l Can't wait to get my lil bags...... Do you still have that lil grey pleated clutch you made, I would love to buy that one.... I also want to make a boxy duffle small purse outta that grey with white fabric you used on it, to match. Do you know the name of that fabric style or how I can get a few yards of it. Please, please keep making videos.....you are our star to watch. .... we love watching your videos more than regular tv! You are a hoot and a holler to watch. Thank you for all your videos on tips and for new ideas and for people just learning to sew. Hope you are feeling better!!! Hugs to you from Lisa.
@AFateSoTwisted
@AFateSoTwisted 10 лет назад
I don't use the steam setting on my iron. I prefer the bottle of water. What type of fabric are you ironing it onto ? You probably just need to pass the iron over it a few more times and hold it there for a few seconds longer. I do still have that clutch. I meant to list it, but I haven't gotten around to it. I can let you know when I put it on my website. I purchased the fabric at Hobby Lobby, but I don't remember if it was by a particular designer. The last time I was there (a couple of weeks ago) they still had plenty in stock and I'm sure other HL stores have it. It's very pretty print. I might have to get more myself. Thank you so much, Lisa. You really inspired me to make more videos when I got your first comment. I love sewing and I'm happy to share what I've learned. Hugs right back at ya ! Renee

Been trying to find the correct weight for cotton throw. pillows. I have some pretty material but it’s a little thin. This interfacing seems a little too heavy for that. Need it to add some weight but not super stiff. What would you recommend? Boy you’re not kidding. Ordering from Joann it’s a 5 yard minimum. Ouch.

Thank you for your informative video. Because the fabric is thicker after applying the interfacing, do you need to use a heavy duty needle in your sewing machine? Thanks Celina

+celinagolo Good question. You would probably want to use a denim needle - especially if you're putting interfacing in both layers of fabric.

Oops: one more question: I'm going to make your cute little brown zippered pouch. One lady on Pinterest used craft felt that you can buy for 30 cents a sheet in a US craft store for the interfacing on her pouch (I like your pouch better). What do you think about this Renee? The craft felt is really cheap and it would be nice to match the color to your fabric. Does this seem do-able to you? Thanks Celina ps - I love your videos - very insightful!
@AFateSoTwisted
@AFateSoTwisted 8 лет назад
+celinagolo I wouldn't use the cheap felt if you ever plan to wash the pouch or use it for any length of time. That felt will tear very easily and it'll become a hot mess in between the layers of fabric.

Hi, don’t know if you still reply back to this video.. I watched this among other videos trying to find one that fits my need. I am working on a project that involves cutting out certain patterns and was hoping the heat and bond would work easiest to put onto other fabrics. But right now I am stuck trying to figure out if I had bought the wrong kind, as it’s a medium heat n bond from Walmart.. It’s not peeling off the back like I figured it would.. does that mean I just iron the cut out piece (that has heat and bond on it already) onto the fabric?
@AFateSoTwisted
@AFateSoTwisted 5 лет назад
Yes. It's supposed to stay on. It keeps the fabric stiff for bags or placemats or even shirt collars. I hope that helps. I usually use Pelion 809 Decor Bond. Do you know what number yours has on it?
@kaylastoyka3206
@kaylastoyka3206 5 лет назад
Thanks for the quick response! It’s just called “Heat n Bond” medium. It says iron-on fusible non-woven interfacing. 100% polyester. Has the instructions on the back but I tried to iron it onto another fabric to see if it would stick on but that didn’t work. When I purchased it, I thought it was the easy stuff that would peel and easily stick onto other things to make it easier to sew onto later but that wasn’t the case. So I’m stuck with this and have no idea how to use it so I’ve been cutting everything separate and try to sew it on without a hold unless you have any tips lol

I am wondering if there is an interfacing or fusable that I can use on semi sheer fabrics to use as a slip so my fabric looks and feels great but does kill the integrity of the dress and allow me to not make an under garment to layer under . can anyone advise me on this question? thanks I would love some input.
@AFateSoTwisted
@AFateSoTwisted 7 лет назад
Cheryl Cooper That is a really good question. Maybe a spray fabric stiffener would work?
@sublimnalphish7232
@sublimnalphish7232 7 лет назад
A Fate So Twisted I'm just wanting to not have to wear a slip under the dresses from the semi sheer fabric I have and not let mu under garment or other parts I don't want hanging out showing. like a permanent under dress slip. I don't want it to stiffen my fabrics just make them not so sheer. I may just sew I tricot on the bra and panty areas. will a fusable tricot work if I cut pieces out like the dress fabric and sew them as one. the style and fabric will not be interfered with but to be less sheer. I don't want a separate slip under my dress, if I can find one to replace one.
