Love your slow and steady approach, definitely a refresher than watching a section videos. Trying to 4th axis mill a model but first needed to rough it and this video helps from a 2D approach me thinking it's a 3D path😅. Definitely gonna be in touch with you about this project. I've reached communities forums but it's very general information

Oh shiiiit! Watching this again, I just heard that you are on holiday! This is what happens when you leave for a second to grab a bear and get confy while to watch your favorite show!

Thanks Lars, I'm like a sponge, I am soaking up all this stuff. If I see and hear it enough, it will start sinking into the gray matter. and maybe I'll remember it when I need it. thanks again.

A,b,c axis rotation in this software would look great and help us a lot before posting anything to the machines, awesome video by the way

Hi p Lazo Thank you for watching! Yes, that would be sweet. I know that the development team is working on machine configurations. I wonder if something like this would be part of that at some point. Have an awesome day!

How does one make the rotary axis (A-Axis) cutting available in Fusion 360 for parts that are NOT symmetric? I will be producing absolutely NO parts in the future which are symmetric. So I need this option.

Lars, I would love to see you do a 2D contour with "Wrap Toolpath" for chamfering. I'm king of hung up on getting that figured out.

your videos all are 2d wraping toolpath. can you show the parallel toolpath in wrap mode 4th axis cant do in fusion 360 this software is only designed for 2d toolpaths not any more

Lars.... no live cast today :-( missed most this past week! Q: Is it possible to import a jpg image like in Solidworks to trace over it? Might make for a good tutorial. Thanks a bunch man! Thumbs up from Spain!

Hi Lars, is there a way to wrap a 4th axis toolpath around a cone like in the compression zone of a plastic extruder? Greetings from Austria, Manfred
@cadcamstuff
@cadcamstuff 6 лет назад
Hi cspotat Thank you for watching! I know there are some limitations on how Fusion handles 4th axis. I think it is a combination of post and the fact that some indexers want to rewind. But, I am not a hundred percent sure. I should really do a livestream on some advanced 4th axis

i need to machine a 4 axis helical toolpath 3d not the 2d. how can i machine that is there any option for that. please reply+

I agree. it would be nice. One solution I do is do 4 setups arrayed around the part, and name them the angle they are at, like 0 deg, 90 deg, 180 deg, 270 deg. then you can do standard milling from each of those perspectives, and I make sure to manually add a line in the beginning of each code , A0, A90, A180, etc. depending on which perspective.. this can be used for roughing and can use all the standard CAM solutions.. HOWEVER, I'm with you, I'd like to have the ability to do PARALLEL CAM with integrated 4th axis, regardless of Z level.. In fact, the trouble i'm seeing now is that the wrapped pockets don't seem to get the tool to all the edges the way I'd like. I think it's because it's calculating based on the tool center, and not taking advantage of the tool edge. My goal is to make a 1" diameter END mill. so, yeah, i'm running into some problems. I could manually code it, but that's a pain.

Hi Lars I tried to program a 4 axis part in fusion 360. But I wonder if the german version is different as the English one. I can't find the patch-function and tool orientation in my fusion 360 cam.. Neighter the wraparound. Only a 4 axis operation function but to set the tool orientation is quite impossible to set....

Hi Gio its because that version of Fusion is nearly 3 years old patch is now in the surface tab. Be in the design work area then above your sketch icon you will see Solid, Surface, Sheet metal, Tools click on the Surface tab and patch is now visible

This method works on every part or only on parts like this one, i mean, symetrical and cylindrical ? what if my part is some twisted weird thing ?
@cadcamstuff
@cadcamstuff 6 лет назад
Hi whatson H Thank you for watching! I would probably have to see the part but for a general answer, 2D Adaptive would work if the part was twisted.

Hey Lars quick question. Is there any way of doing cam mirror image with fusion?
@cadcamstuff

Hi fabian hernandez Thank you for watching! Yes, Right-click a setup or an operation and select "add to new pattern" In the drop-down you can select Mirror

Is there a setting in Fusion360 for simulations on a 4th axis path that allows us to view the stock rotating under a fixed spindle, instead of the spindle rotating around the stock?
@cadcamstuff

Hi grappler185 Thank you for watching! There is not at this point. Best, Lars

Hi Lars, Thanks for replying. You might want to put that one in the suggestion box. The people I've discussed it with really liked the idea.

Nice video as always. However, I rather own my own software and have 100% ownership of my files and software. Sorry Autodesk.

Hi CudaPro Thank you for watching! Don't be sorry :-) You need to do what is best for you! I do have to make it clear though, YOU DO have 100% ownership of your files when using Autodesk products. Hope you have an awesome day! BEst, Lars

Hi Lars thank you for replying. If I have a Fusion 360 subscription and create all my tool path files. My tool path files are 100% Fusion 360 format. Which means that if I stop my Fusion 360 subscription, I no longer can use my Fusion 360 Tool Path files. Correct? Quitting my Fusion 360 subscription = No longer having access to all my tool path files (files that contain all the tool path generation). 100% ownership? However, if I purchase a CAD/CAM system, I can open those files anytime I want because I own (not rent) the software and files. Even if I have moved on to another CAD/CAM solution, I can still open all my previous tool path files. I have purchased and have used CAD/CAM for over 30 years. If I stop my subscription to Fusion 360, I no longer have access to those tool path files. Those files I worked very hard on. Maybe I am misinformed....... If I no longer have access to those files, please explain how I have 100% ownership? AutoDesk (like any other company) wants to make a profit. Nothing wrong with that. They are not offering a subscription based CAM system because they want to be nice guys. They are offering a subscription based CAM system because it provides them more profit. They have thought this out and are very clever. Imagine creating tool path files for 3 years, 4 years, 6 years and have paid subscription fees now totaling more than the purchase price for many comparable and better CAM systems. The Autodesk sales and marketing department know that most customers will keep paying their subscription fees (even if the fees are raised) to be able to use those tool path files. To have access to THEIR tool path files. My bet is that AutoDesk will increase their subscription fees over the coming years. Companies provide subscription offers like this because its more profitable for THEM. Subscription based software (in many cases) is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Been there, done that. I may be 100% misinformed. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts regarding this. BTW, your videos are fantastic and among the very best I have seen. I will continue to watch and learn. My views regarding Fusion 360 are not an attack towards you or AutoDesk. I just want people to see all sides.
