I never knew what the rib command was good for. Thanks for showing off its usefulness!

The rib tool is very powerful. Not enough users know this. Thank you for sharing this with the community. 💎

I know I've commented this video already. But I wanted to say this: Your channel is seriously underrated. I don't understand how you only have 5k subs after 2 years.

Hi, thank you for the kind words. These do keep me going, more than you can imagine. The channel was started in May 2018. I posted maybe 10-20 videos in the first few months, and then I went on a hiatus the next 9 months! So the first year was pretty much a wash. Not too long ago (Dec 2019), I was only at a 100 subs. In fact, up until Sept 2020, I was only at 1K. The growth has already far exceeded any expectations I might have had when starting the channel. I am always thankful for anyone who would care to watch my videos and subscribe. I am starting take a less serious view of the sub count nowadays. Comparing to other channels with similar sub count or even more, I do get a very healthy number of views and engagement. I guess I just have to knuckle down and keep improving.

@@Fusion360School Please keep that great job up! Your videos are extremely practical and easy to understand! Thank you for sharing your knowledge here. I give thumbs up to every video I watch, hope that will help a bit your channel to grow :) What space mouse are you using? Is it 3DConnexion?

@@Tokolist Thank you, the likes do help to push the video out to more people. Yes, I am using a 3Dconnexion space mouse.

@@Fusion360School "I am starting take a less serious view of the sub count nowadays." I think that is a rare attitude on RU-vid, and a very healthy one. Keep up the good work. Build a better mousetrap, as they say, and the world will beat a path to your door.

I've never really used the rib command and have been doing the weird extrudes and combines to essentially get to the same operation. This is great! And thanks for showing the different compute methods, it's also something I never really experimented with but I should. Your channel is a really good resource for learning fusion and also leveling up CAD skills in general.

This is very informative! However I do have a question and possible add-on for this video: If this object was a functional part, where the upper perimeter of the extruded cylinder was required to mate its outer surface with another part, is there a way to normalize the height of the ribs as the pattern iterates around the circumference of the cylinder as to not cause interference?
@Fusion360School
@Fusion360School 3 года назад
I know exactly what you mean. When making the video, I was slightly uncomfortable with the edges riding up the cylinder. This is a consequence of the sloped lines meeting the cylindrical surface at slightly higher levels as we go sideways. The only way to resolve this would be to create a rib with a flat horizontal face at the top. While sketching the rib, instead of just a sloped line, include a small horizontal segment at the top. Hope this makes sense. If I have the time, I might make a follow up video. Thanks for the suggestion.

@@Fusion360School What about a ring around the top used to cut any geometry that rises above the desired level?
@Fusion360School
@Fusion360School 3 года назад
@@No1sonuk That should work too. However, it would be preferable to resolve this during the rib rather than perform an extra cut.
