Use curves in Fusion for flexible color correction and compositing. We start by reproducing lift, gamma, gain changes in the curves tool and head on to foreground & background matching.

😀 Usually I forget saying my name and some people complained in the past that they didn't know how to call me...

Hahah, finally I know where is the double poly tool inside Fusion)))

:) So it needed a tutorial on the curves tool to learn more about polygons? That's the cool thing - there's always more to discover, right :)

This is fantastic, dear! First time, as far as I know, to see tutorial that covers color grading for composted clips and rely on mathematics and numbers in rather than vision. Thanks a million. Yes, please, interested in more tutorials for color grading in Fusion.
@VFXstudy
@VFXstudy 4 года назад
Well, I suppose you shouldn't completely ignore your vision... and the numbers will only work out if you take them in the right area. That's why I wouldn't rely too much on completely automated color matching tools. But yes, it's still good to have some scientific basis to start from.

Nicely explained and demonstrated. It would be nice if resolve let you use all the color page tools on compositing elements in fusion to really nail colour matching.
@VFXstudy
@VFXstudy 4 года назад
Well, Fusion has it's own tools, but is there any specific thing you do on the color page that you cannot find in Fusion? Most things are available I think.
@fusioncloner8428
@fusioncloner8428 4 года назад
@@VFXstudy Thanks for reply. It's more that the colour page tools seem more logical in for colour correction(as you'd expect them to be as it's the colour correction page) whereas the colour tools in fusion are more low level so they can be built into custom tools. It's more a question of workflow - sometime when doing composting etc I would like to be able to use the colour page tools to match elements individually(as opposed to just the final comp) because I understand them for colour correction. It's probably just a lack of understanding of how to use the fusion tools correctly.

whenever I try to adjust the tangent handlers I grab only one channel (Red color) how can I grab All of them (rgb) when changing the tangent of points?

Can we follow along in Resolve 12.5 and Fusion 9?

Fusion 9 has practically the same tool set, so yes you can use the Curves tool in Fusion 9 as well.

Hey Bernd, can you do a tutorial about 3D texture nodes? I've been studying all of the fusion nodes mainly using the manual and some youtube videos but some nodes I don't understand and can't find videos about it. About all the fusion nodes the most tricky category is 3D texture nodes. Many of them I didn't understand how to use it like catcher, fast noise, falloff, cubeMap. Seems like texture nodes has a different logic comparing with others categories.
@VFXstudy
@VFXstudy 4 года назад
Interesting, I did tutorials on bumpmap and on the illumination models. Might to more on textures later. But probably some more compositing stuff first. Thanks for the tip.
@riccoutinho
@riccoutinho 4 года назад
@@VFXstudy ok. Thank you. I've seen all your videos. I saw bumpmap and catcher but still have doubts in this last one. When to use output only, when and how to use the inputs for the texture nodes...
@riccoutinho

Hey Bernd, is there a visual difference between negatives black values and clipping black, other then mathematical?
@VFXstudy
@VFXstudy 4 года назад
The viewer / your monitor will always clip automatically and the rendering to file as well unless you render into a float format like exr. But it does make a difference for some operations downstream of your color node in the compositing flow. Sometimes you do temporary corrections and have some later that bring information back into range. Or you use color tools on the alpha channel and depending on how you use it subsequently, negative values can become an issue or could be fully intended. Depends on the context.

@@VFXstudy I am looking for new monitor because having both Viewer one and Viewer Two plus inspector tab open in Fusion is very space congested with my 27" in monitor. I am looking at some 32 inch monitors. Any recommendations in terms of whether 34" would be an overkill ? or 32" should be good ?
