The music in this film has such a powerful effect on me. This film is like a secret story, in a secret garden that I get to see and I just feel special watching it.
that is what I exactly feel about this movie but i could never understand why it's so special for me. now i understand how it makes me feel with your words. thank you.
Is it just me who’s obsessed with this scene???? I love how Elio was mad at Mafalda (sorta) a minute ago and then, the way he asks for Oliver is so gentle, you can feel the little sadness in his voice. CMBYN is the best movie I’ve ever watched.
I hate how absolutely familiar I am with this feeling: all you can do is think about them. Your interests, your hobbies, your annoyances, your problems-nothing matters except them. What they’re doing, what they’re talking about, if they’re talking about you, if they’re thinking about you as much as you think about them. You can’t focus, you can’t bring yourself to keep yourself busy, everyone and everything annoys you because the person you’re thinking about it not right next to you. This scene is such a great display of that. It’s captures it perfectly: first ever love. This just shows you how powerful love is.
Elio is so petty here, it’s silly but it’s so relatable longing for someone, wondering what they’re doing, overthinking everything (displayed beautifully in the book where it delves right into all his thoughts from his perspective) loving someone so much you could hate them. I think that’s why he mumbles “traitor”
Whatever your personal orientation, this film is about love, longing and heartbreak. Things we all can relate to. That's why this story and song are so powerful to me!
I remember this scene so much. Around this time I had a crush on someone who didn’t even notice me and I felt like Elio just waiting for Oliver. This is probably cheesy lol
@@RealMexFoodShouldntGiveUDrrhea I actually know what you mean and the above comment is right too, you don't have to be gay to relate what this film is about.
The entire film is like a dream one has on a hot summer's day, but this scene in particular perfectly captures the languorous, dreamlike atmosphere. Elio framed by an encroaching blue evening, lost in thought, chewing on his Mogen Dovid (Star of David) necklace...there are many gorgeous moments in this film, but I'd say that this is one of the absolute best of the lot.
I seriously need to rewatch the whole movie and actually pay attention to the glorious scenes and music. Before this, it has just been another movie on my checklist but now, after getting the book, I feel the need to re-immerse myself into this beautiful day dream, study it word by word and scene by scene.
Jerry Alexander Quiros couldn't agree more. Plus, I'm planning to get more of my friends to watch it with me so we can obsses together about everything in this movie XD Now, I've only the internet to talk to XD
This brings me back to my grandma's house in italy. I'm reading a book, I didn't go to the beach because It was a cloudy afternoon. When the sun goes down I get inside, in my room, to keep reading. Everything is so surreal, so dreamy. I can smell, feel, hear the summer. I'm sad, but I'm happy of being sad. I have no plans for the night and I get lost in myself until I just jump in bed when I feel tired
Just watched this movie recently. This is the scene that stuck with me the most. The way the scene is shot with the film stock coming in and out of the scene perfectly demonstrates where Elio’s mind is at. Elio sitting in the middle of the bushes, wondering where Oliver is at. His mind racing as to his true feelings he is experiencing for him. His Judaism necklace in his mouth, grappling with what he knows his religion says about how he feels which is direct conflict with how he knows on the inside is true to his core. The music is just the chef’s kiss on top of everything.
You know what’s funny? The shot of Elio and the camera losing focus and lights flickering in and out was completely unintentional but the director loved the way it emotes feeling and set the mood and tone they were going for so he kept it in. Haha.
My favorite scene in the whole movie, AND the one where Oliver watches Elio sleep while he's dreaming of their time together last night and the train whistles from the station just cuts into the scene in that dark room where Oliver's Sittin on the edge of the bed...just watching over Elio's calm face, fast asleep...
We all come here to appreciate this video , cause we all had gone through these beautiful , idiotic , crazy love ,and nostalgic movements where ur allowed to be go with magic of love.
This movie is so amazing. I’m a straight woman, not that it matters. But this movie speaks to me so much. It’s so beautiful and sexy and heartbreaking. I CANNOT get enough!
Everytime I hear this song/music it breaks my heart 😢. Why you may ask... Well I went through something similar 25 yrs ago just like elio... Oliver broke my heart too 😮😢❤
in their audio commentary of the movie timothee chalamet and michael stuhlbarg talked about how those colored light affects were imperfections in the film that they used but luca guadagnino watched it and liked it so they kept it.
rewatched this movie today after so many years and this scene hit so much harder for some reason. also notice how he was wearing the collar he used to not wear anymore....
This film and soundtrack feels like soft pastel pink clouds and the feeling when you change your bedding..... its weird but the only way i can descirbe it
Thousands of generations of humans have never washed their hands after urinating, and yet the human species has managed to survive to give birth to you...maybe your kindergarten teacher is lying to you..?
Traitor! Lol im very confrontation back when i was 18 Im 28 now, time has reshaped me so hard but still kinda confrontation If i was in Elio situation, when im now i would wait for the morning and talk some sense about it But if i was 18...girl...a fight at midnight is real🤣😂🤣😂
social anomaly In the book when Oliver goes to Elio's bedroom to check on him because he's been sick, Oliver says "I'll stick around." But he breaks his promise and goes out, and returns to the house very late. That's why Elio calls him a traitor.
the context is better if you’ve read the book, another reason is that Oliver has a shower when he comes home after his night out and elio says he only has showers if he’s had sex, he then calls Oliver a traitor for leaving him
Hey guys, correct me if I'm wrong, because in my opinion, they are maybe both romantically in loved with each other but he saw Oliver peeing on that night (means he just had s*x with Chiara) that's why he called him traitor? :D
No Homo but this whole movie was awesome from the the beautiful town of crema to the music to the whole story. One of my favorite movies sucks that When I talk about it with my friends they think I am gay but I am not lol.
