The amount of paradoxes this show created just blowed my mind. I remember watching this and thinking in all the possibilities, if Peter was intelligent he could beat everyone's asses, there wouldn't even be a chance to get him, in the scene that Gabriel explodes later on, he could've just stopped time and killed the villains, but idk he's so dumb.

It's simple enough to armchair when, you know, these things aren't really possible and you don't have to deal with them yourself. It's like "Oh, that's, what was going to happen? He should have just done this one thing a bunch of episodes ago when he didn't know this exact thing was going to happen and, you know, still didn't have a handle on his power and that's the 'smart' thing to do."

Torian Flack the problem is all the inconsistencies. Anyone with Claire’s power shouldn’t be able to die period. Peter survived blowing himself into literal nothingness with zero problem and they can be stabbed through the brain from the back of the head without any permanent damage. But a single bullet to the head does it here? Just what?

There is a simple explanation for that - "plot device" - characters make stupid mistakes so the story can go on and creators don't have to be very creative. But seriously - every time when there is somone really powerful on sci fi they are always taking his powers away or making him not be able to control them...

With the time travel ability, it slowly kills you if you change the present too much by altering the past. Not only that, but their futures have diverged so much future peter may not be able to access past peters new future anymore. Future peter no longer has hope in his own timeline, but he does have hope in past peter's timeline, that he can at least make it so he won't have to suffer future peter's present, if past peter will follow through where future peter cannot anymore. Sorry, that's really confusing.

This version of Peter had regeneration. He can only be “killed” when that spot begins is head is destroyed. Even tho Claire shot him, the Haitian got knocked out, thus his ability of power negation is out the question since he’s incapacitated. Future Peter should’ve been able to get up.

Not just regeneration he had power a lot of it, he put the body and soul of his younger self in another body and gave him control. The amount of power future Peter had was insane, he too much for the Haitian to even suppress, remember how he was struggling to suppress Arthur power when he stole all of Peter's power, now future Peter had way more power. Even if in the Haitain was unconscious the bullet should not have knocked him out he should gotten right back up in mere seconds. This is when the series for me started going down hill.

For what I've heard, Badass Peter screwed up uncountable times and in more than one timeline, and was known to be incredibly gullible regarding Adam and/or the Petrellis. Thank God his newfound synthetic ability eventually led him on the path of integrity and common sense.

@@romicor9 That's because future badass Peter was dealing with timeline. Fixing the timeline wasn't just about beating the shit out of everyone. That's why Peter sought Sylar's "understanding" ability. Peter in season 4 and on only had to deal with regular villains with abilities. Fuck, he couldn't even defeat regular men with guns. It was depressing to watch Peter being that useless and pathetic. He was the most special among everyone and they turned him into jelly.

If I'm not mistaken he only used flight during that fight, but old Peter would have had 900x more powers to use against him. I get budget and all, but man, they couldn't have had him be fighting crime in a different country and only have him return for big budget episodes?

I would have preferred a temporary power loss or sylar transfer empathic mimicry back to peter since he learned it if peter had power replication he could probably maintain that and upgraded his new one into old and start over

Christopher Marshall Peter was not OP in my opinion, but Sylar was definitely OP. He should have been killed off in season one permanently. He never should have gotten Claire’s powers. By letting him drag on as the ultimate villain his song got old and boring.

Peter was over powered to the max even more than sylar as sylar had to understand the ability to use it and had a major weakness and that was the hunger or addiction. Peter had no weaknesses after season 1 to when he lost those abilities.

Christopher Marshall you are only partially correct. Sylar had the same abilities as Peter they were just expressed differently. Sylars abilities were intentional rather than unintentional. In addition to Peters natural empathic abilities, Sylar had the ability to seek out and find others with abilities. He was also a sadist, a sociopath and a homicidal maniac who induced extreme terror in his victims. He explained to Claire when he took her powers, he didn’t really need to cut open peoples head and see how their powers worked, he just like inflicting terror on his victims. What really took Sylar over the top was his complete lack of boundaries. He was like a tornado inside a coffee shop. I stand by my original statements.

Maybe the Haitian was blocking Future Peter's powers to prevent him from healing, I mean, he can do that without even touching people, so that could explain why Peter died from two gunshots; he just bleed to death before he could start healing. Now, if you see closely, Future Peter is death way before the Haitian got hit, so there you have. The other explanation is maybe the Haitian didn't black out.

@@Arkzod a person shot in the heart could run for 2 blocks before collapsing to the ground and a few more minutes to die. A shot that didnt hit the heart like those, would have him bleeding out for a few minutes. This shit was dumb. Oh and he definetly would have gone down like that, insta ded. Many times people dint even realize they got shot until the blood loss makes them dizzy. No adrenaline pumping or running means he would stay there bleeding out for quite a while. Hell he probably wouldnt even die if manages the blood loss from the hemorrhage. He should have had his regeneration kick in the moment the haitian got hit.

the problem with this series is that the writers had no idea what to do. The premesis was great, character ideas great but the potential kind of got wasted as soon as the second season hit if not sooner. They simply had no idea what to do with them.

So many flying people but none with powers like Hiro's who could go to past and mess with it. It's either a plot hole OR maybe there is something like a catalog for people who wants to get a power - with only nice powers (flying, superspeed, strenght, healing, reflex etc.) nothing dangerous for a timeline or a world (radioactive, controlling time and space, copying powers).

I'd go with the second option. If these powers existed in real life, the governments would manage to sell the common ones to civilians, you know, to make their life easier by running fast to their jobs, or make the TV remote fly all the way to their hands, but I'm pretty sure they'd keep the dangerous powers for themselves, probably for military use or something. And trust me, space-time manipulation would be at the top of that list.

1:25 I forgot the characters name, but I imagine one possible way the world being split in half happened is that one guy who in a later season (the one with the travelling circus of people with powers) who got stronger based on his proximity to other people with powers. Oh, and his powers were basically "Earth Bending". Now imagine what that same guy would be like near millions of people with powers...

Haitian cancelled out his regeneration, which (my guess) puts him in a stasis until an object is removed from the wound, meaning he was dead by that point so the regen didnt do anything.

I loved this show when it started, the first and second seasons are phenomenal, such potential, so many interesting directions the story could go with compelling characters, then I dont know what the fuck happened, everything went left, it got so convaluted and the time-jumps to the the future then the past and character's powers getting changed or erased and who knew what the hell was going on, and THEN....they make the same fucking mistake with Heroes Reborn......unbelievable.

I did my own "time jump as a viewer": I re-watched Volume 1 and then went straight to Volume 4 (I'm currently 14 episodes into Volume 5). I don't regret it at all and I wasn't lost with the story, to be honest (except for Tracy, but nothing that Google can't clarify). Watching this clip, I know I did the right choice...during Season 1, Milo did an acceptable Future Peter, not bad at all. This scene looks like he's unconvinced or bored and just wants to go home.

as bad as any Heroes seasons following first one, Volume 2 to the middle of volume 3 is still canon to Heroes Universe that my mega-crossover uses(until Alex Mercer intervene and eats everyone in Heroes universe(sans Hiro Nakamura or Emile Danko) as grey goo) where Arthur Power-drains Hiro never happened there

Why does future Peter have a scar? If the events of the main Peter affects the outcome... Any future Peter would just be the same version. He saved Claire so he can heal. The first future Peter should either be erased or living in that particular timeline... Not the timeline where everyone has powers... Unless I guess the Haitian was nearby and hiro slashed him or something

Maybe he lost his powers at some point, got injured to the point where a scar settled and then much later got the healing power again (by which point the scar would not heal over again so it became permanent?) 🤷‍♂️

In orginal story Peter lost power ( Arthur take ) and Arthur make scar on Peter face before he and haitan kill him , and after he injection he back his orginal power but he have scar , Rapid regeneration dont regeneration old scar , but writers are idiots and change all

Nah I'm pretty sure he says he kept the scar as a reminder of what happened in his timeline as a way to punish himself. Think it's the scene where he's talking with the Chick with multiple personalities(who was with the Guy who could phase in and out of stuff) at the bar in the future. Whatever her name was she was dating Peter in this time and asked him why he chose to keep it

What never made sense was he got shot in the back of the head and died but Claire from the present revealed that as a way to take down sylar. At the same time, if the bullet is removed, you heal so why didn't this happen?

Plot armor observation #2: after knocking out the Haitian, younger Peter should have gone back and took out Claire. I Imagine future Peter didn't have too much time to recover with her being right next to him shooting but, all younger Peter would have had to do was distract her long enough for it to happen.

I'm rewatching this but not going to watch past season 1, the true ending. This show suffered from a writers strike back in 2005 or 6 or so, and the second season onward really took the full blunt of that. Really a shame.

It would’ve been awesome if they incorporated PP’s plot into heroes, like the main characters trying to stop some drug lord creating temporary superpowers that descend the world into chaos. At least for the final season maybe.

@@sillyking1991 the target is consciously running away from me. Me running towards him does not alarm him further. But I see what you mean about distance throwing her off less than the moving now. Still, I'll contend that her running towards him, whose path of escape is obstructed, would get her close enough to not aim. That's what "point-blank" means.

@@timothytai691 oh you meant the second peter not the first. But by that point hes running too, so you have to rely on being faster to actually close distance. Now, keep in mind im not saying that its entirely unreallistic for her to have hit him under the conditions shown. Suspension of disbeluef is about believing the plausability of a scenario, not its liklihood. Sure, claire could have possibly done thjngs more optimally, but she had to make a snap decision. Arguably killing future peter was premeditated, but ahe was clearly surprised by having a second target. Not really conducive to optimal decision making Hindsight is 20/20 as they say

This scene always made no sense, wouldn't future Peter have Claire's ability? How did a few bullets kill him permanently? He clearly had his original ability, so he could hold onto multiple abilities, and not the nerfed one at a time thing they gave present Peter. Despite being on opposite sides as future Claire, he clearly still knew her before they went their separate ways, so how does he not heal?

I watched it around 2014 and last year I started playing this game. I go to IMDB pick a rando episode, read the description and try to figure out what the heck is going on. Started showing it to my sis last week thinking my memory of first season events were pretty good, and let's just say I was blindsided by more than one plot point from my muddied memory... I even forgot Sylar didn't cause the explosion.

Yeah, if you flinch and close your eyes like that every time you fire, you tend to not hit anything. Thought the point of acting was to make things believable if she's supposed to be some trained agent in this future all that flinching when she fires the gun doesn't make much sense.
