Future LAX Terminal 9 First Look Fly-Through

Terminal 9 will be home to approximately 12 wide-body or 17 narrow-body gates, and its square footage makes it around 40% larger than LAX’s most recently completed large-scale gate addition project, the Midfield Satellite Concourse (MSC) North, which opened in 2021. The program for Terminal 9 includes a 4-level building structure, 2-levels of parking, independent access and on-site circulation roads, pedestrian pathways and baggage connections to the Central Terminal Area, and importantly, a connection to LAX’s People Mover train with a new, dedicated stop for the terminal. Equally important, the concessions at Terminal 9 will create opportunities to showcase and support the local vendors that make L.A. a premier destination.

As a rideshare driver in LA I am SO looking forward to this project being complete. As things are, I just don't drive in the early hours of the day because Every ride is an airport run in the morning and the traffic at the horseshoe simply makes driving not worth it. The days before Christmas and especially Thanksgiving... forget about it. More than an hour to get into the terminals, drop off, and get back out again on those days.

The future of LAX is to have all of the airlines alliances gathered together for efficient transfers. Terminals 2,3, Bradley north for Sky Team. T 4,5, Bradley south for One World. T 7,8,9 for Star Alliance

I don't understand why all Star Alliance carriers operating from the TBIT will go to Terminal 9 once it's complete. The TBIT would be utterly useless at that point (Even though there are still going to be a majority of airlines operating from the terminal) Plus, Asiana Airlines (A Star Alliance carrier) has an A380 flight that goes to LAX, so would they have to make an A380 gate for that specific flight at Terminal 9? Plus, the A380 can't even fit on the taxi ways to 25R due to the large wingspan. The same goes for the 747-8i.
@johniii8147
@johniii8147 10 месяцев назад
@@RashadKhanAviation2023 Not all Star flights will be going to T-9. T-9 isn't planned to accommodate the 380. Quite a few flights will remain in Bradley with just some moved over. There won't be enough gates for widebodies to accommodate all the Star international flights. You have SQ, Asiana (for now), UA, LH, NZ, NH, AI etc etc. No way they can accommodate all that with a max of 5 widebody capable gates. Bradley will still have plenty of traffic

I wonder how many people know that Terminal 9 will be built quite near the site of the temporary Los Angeles International Airport terminals in operation from 1946 to 1961? The original terminal buildings actually existed up until only a few years ago.

Being a former Bradley Terminal employee (US Customs) who has flown to both European and Asian airports on a fairly regular basis, LAX was a national disgrace. I hope this all works out. The concept of the different alliances being under separate roofs is intriguing.

It seems that United just built a hangar in that same location. Does anyone have any information about that?
@johnmaster3748
@johnmaster3748 Год назад
It's my understanding the United maintenance hangar is farther east (toward the end of the runways). T9 would sit between that and T8. But, honestly, I've had trouble visualizing the layout. At one time there was a commuter jet facility just east of T8. I think T9 would go where that used to be but also take up the land north of there (behind it) that I think used to be cargo and the backside of the US Postal Service sorting center that fronts Sepulveda. It may be that T9 will takeover the postal site.

At last a world class design instead of the humdrum architecture that’s been the norm at LAX. (And don’t get me started about that eyesore of an ATC tower with its clunky “high tech” look). Can’t see this new terminal being ready for 2028.
@mrxman581
@mrxman581 10 месяцев назад
I don't mind the look of the tower. However, they should clean up the external design including a new paint scheme. Maybe a white and blue color scheme to compliment the MCM homage of the new renovations and expansions.

@@davidcoker7989 for what it’s worth and to provide a little more context, United and LAWA are going back and forth on how much both parties are going to be pay, LAWA trying to get UA to chip in more, so that’s why they haven’t officially said it’s for United like they have for Southwest and T0. I guess you could say LAWA is calling it a “common use international terminal” for now is a way to negotiate with United, but everyone fully expects it to be United. UA executives have indirectly said they’re getting it before. Doesn’t make sense for either AA or DL given they already built their expansions and they’re in completely different parts of the airport. Also if you look back at the TPG Q&A with the LAX CEO last year he even said it’s for Star Alliance. So anyways, if you were wondering why they haven’t labeled it the United terminal yet, that’s the background.
@LDVTennis
@LDVTennis Год назад
@@denvernuggetsmc4785 There is no back and forth. United was not going to get better terms than Southwest. Southwest agreed to self-finance construction and secure long-term financing in case LAWA does not buy back T0. At T9, that would have meant short- and long-term financing in the amount of at least $3 Billion dollars. That is $3 Billion at an airport that is not a hub for the airline. Currently, LAWA is exploring a public-private partnership (PPP) to build and perhaps run T9. If United and partners end up using T9 after all, take note that the enplanement costs for this terminal will be the highest at the airport, in no small part due to the PPP delivery method.
