I support and applaud your efforts @GreenpeaceUK, however this inspirational song is clearly aimed at a generation of people who: a) have contributed less to the Earth's problems than older people, and b) are already much more motivated than them to act to preserve our planet. As a member of the aforementioned older generation I can say that well written music still affects us deeply, however this song in its current form is unlikely to inspire us to do anything other than hit the "next" button as quickly as possible. This is written not as a dismissal of your work but as exhortation to target any future musical/social media projects at us, the principal culprits, a little more precisely 💌

Most media about the climate change comes down to "change your ways or things could go bad!" This captures that existential dread and powerlessness of the situation. I can switch to oat milk and take a bike to work, but the politician and the oil man, to who my money always ends up going, are blowing chunks out of the planet on the daily.

I have some issues, not personal one, god forbid, with the narrative. The crux of the matter is, it remains a conjecture as actions are absent. Crafting a film to elevate concern can justifiably be considered as an action; I do not refute this. My concern lies in the fact that we are lagging by approximately three decades or so. We experience a societal thermal lag, akin to the climate; the key difference is that the societal fabric, in its ontology, is more swift to adapt to changes or to mutate entirely. Hunter-gatherers, who adopted seasonal hierarchies, can offer us substantial lessons. it'll soon be here. Indeed, it will arrive, but I remain skeptical regarding the inclusion of humans.The song persists, It’s either you stand for something or fall for anything Gotta give my all, I’m putting in everything Common sense ain’t common anymore, you’d think we’re more intelligent This is a deceptive distraction. The majority will not "commit their entirety". I earnestly hope that those who pledge "investing everything" are prepared for vehement resistance. Idealism holds importance, but it borders on a totalitarian utopia when devoid of realism. God save the planet But we’re the ones that really need saving Oh, appealing to contemporary religion is, paradoxically counter-intuitive, according to my sensibilities, unless by 'God' the narrative references a pre-modern 'God'. Furthermore, I concur with the second phrase, "we're the ones who genuinely require salvation". I would argue not from a stance of organismic exceptionalism, as that would lead to an incorrect conclusion. Rather, our disconnection from nature is so profound that a significant cognitive rehabilitation is required. The participatory understanding (knowing), especially. And it’s not too late but Father Time will slow down the clock and Mother Nature said you’re testing her patience Father Time isn't going to decelerate the passage of time. Deception holds no ground here. Nonetheless, I resonate with the veiled 'hope' the narrative endeavored to convey.

Great video but Young people already blame the older generation for this mess. 99% of this film just shows the older generation and only at the very end is it made clear that they represent oil companies. But some of us have always fought against this blind ransacking of nature. They blame us but they consume way more than we ever did and they litter it everywhere. 1) This video will not convince anyone to think and act who has not already realised the need to. Working class kids will not be enthused by an extremely middle of the road song set to rich people dancing with whom they have no association. The video is far too middle class oriented. It may help fundraising, but the insipid song and video actually mask the message and most will not make it through to the end. 2) Perhaps Led By Donkeys would have been a better partner for this production?

Greenpeace (52 yrs of campaigning) needs to broaden its tactics to be more relevant in getting more people to become engaged in becoming active in campaigning for a better future. This video is aimed at a wider demographic rather than just appealing to its original members. It's a stated aim of the new co-executive directors to grow the organisation. You obviously don't like it but looking at the overwhelming supporting comments you seem to be out of step with how people view this campaign method.

@greenpeaceuk and Greenpeace international, you should re-launch this film during COP28. I am dismayed that here on RU-vid you only have 120 comments. It should be at least 120k comments! I have worked at COP 26 & 27 and a lot of what goes on behind the scenes is like this film and I even at COP with all the social events, performances, cocktail parties and fringe events put on by the giant corporations from hedge funds to cryptos it felt like a party on the Titanic.
