my theory is that almost everyone that likes a fictional media aspires to live that life, and since slice of life is more realistic than shounen, its fans will try harder to live that life. Let's compare a simple high school boy's life to an adventure filled magic boy journey. Since the most prominent aspect of the high school life is living life in its everyday, its fans will try to live their lives to the fullest everyday. This leads to better routines and habits, self improvement, and generally a better life. the adventure journey, on the other hand, is almost impossible to live in the modern world, thus its fans keep sitting around in their fantasies and try out cool gadgets and quirks that the characters have, in order to realize the most of that fantasy. unfortunately, the fantasy isnt real, and they come out as weird and unrealistic, completely stuck in fiction and refusing to live the real life. so basically, differentiate reality from fiction lads. Fiction might be fun, but reality is still real. But if you make it well, reality could be better than fiction.

But no the movie just HAD to make that scene even more sad by giving more context avout the creation of that song. I really want to rewatch k-on but I'm not ready to face the ending for the second time.
