Nice review Matt. I’ve been considering a few of these vertical layout components. This looks like an excellent choice. On a personal note, I just wanted to compliment you on your presentation style. You have a very natural delivery, good technical description without the condescending “I am the expert” attitude. I laughed when you mentioned your wife’s response to your Hifi hobby. You seem like the kind of person that would become a good friend if I met you in person. That sort of approachable personality has a lot of value in this virtual world.

Great review as usual Matt. With the diagonal grooves and the screen, these look really cool. I connect a lot of my vintage equipment to a remote control power switch. I can turn my DACs, VU meters and other components off all at once too, not just the vintage gear.

I don’t have have one controlled by remote but I do have a power sensing “smartish” power strip I use for some of my gear as well.

I have two Aiyima T8s and one of them was bought for me as a gift for $140 and the new one was bought in an auction for the grand total of $38 new in the box and I have had much more expensive dacs and preamps that didn't sound as good . The only issue I've had will be the lack of RCA inputs and outputs to connect my Reel To Reel so I'm holding onto an older receiver for that job . I'm kind of an Aiyima fanboy although the Boy is in his mid 60s. LoL I'm hoping at some point Aiyima offers a more powerful headphone amp then id dump my remaining stack

Great video. I have been looking for a less than 200 replacement after the power supply in my SU-8s died (currently a Geshelli but would rather that be attached to my desk system). I take it you could not hear any kind of difference between the FX and the SMSL (same chip/op-amps)? I agree the power button is a bit clunky, but the screen looks nice. Looking forward to your upcoming vids!

Same transparent sound, going to be little to no coloration so it might be a good option if it fits your needs connection wise which it likely does coming from an su8s. It’s a nice looking little unit, so far has been working great.

SMSL has the D6s that performs pretty good with a more modern ES9039Q2M chip. FXaudio is really trying to differentiate lately. Playing catch up I guess.

Any info on the op amp being used, and if they can be rolled? I had a really low budget FX desktop dac that actually got a major upgrade when I realized I could put in a different op amp chip.

I actually haven't had a chance to open this one up yet, its something I usually try to do for each review but ran into a bit of a time crunch.
