On Mar 1, 2021, Fx Bricks will debut the Fx Track System--a new system of L-Gauge metal tracks compatible with 9V and RC LEGO® train track. Fx Track restores all of the key advantages of running LEGO model trains on metal rails, including limitless power, reliable smooth running and more options for control.
The first element available will be the S32 double length straight track, followed by the R72 curve track. More elements such as the R88 curve track and S8 straight track will follow later in the year.

This is exciting news. Much needed. Looking foreword to trying these out. One little thing in the history - 12v rails actually began in. 1969 in the blue track era - but we all think of 1980 and the grey track as the 12v era
@FxBricks
@FxBricks 3 года назад
Ah ha! I was wondering when someone was going to call us out on that! :) Indeed the metal centre rails were introduced earlier but with only a handful of sets released over a decade--it wasn't until the 1980 grey-era when the system exploded with sets, accessories, etc. and became mainstream.

We also suspect that we will sell out quickly; however, no one really knows until the shop opens. If we sell out, rest assured more stock will be in the pipeline. @SirLANsalot
@SirLANsalot 3 года назад
the advantage that the "new" battery system was it could run several trains at once because of the mutli frequency IR system. The drawback to the 9v metal rail system was the fact it could run just 1 loco like the old DC systems on normal model railroads. Finally giving Lego DCC systems following the typical NMRA system is perfect, since you could then adapt DCC systems like Digitrax command stations to lego railroads, and allow the use of JMRI (and as such the JMRI's Engine Driver Adrioid App or WiThrottle for Apple).
@FxBricks
@FxBricks 3 года назад
Simple DC voltage speed control is actually awesome and still very relevant today. Its simplicity and robustness are perfect for many folks especially new-comers to the hobby. Having said that, DCC is a fantastic standard with a long and mature pedigree. If you were watching the video carefully at the 05:47 mark, you'll see a brief screen-cap of my JMRI controlled layout!

@ShazenVideos
@ShazenVideos 3 года назад
@@pcuimac Well, if Lego doesn't want our money, we'll spend it somewhere else. That's the point, Lego has no patent anymore, yet they behave as if they'd have nothing to lose. Looks like they've lost their will to live.
@pingu255
@pingu255 3 года назад
@@ShazenVideos don't quite agree with you. behaving as if they had nothing to lose is what they were doing when they still had their patent, and after it expired, to the point that they almost went bankrupt. Some of the things they are bringing out are totally bizarre and just look trash to me, but i guess they are trying to increase their consumerbase. The 9v tracks were cut because whilst lego was recovering from near bankruptcy the 9v tracks were not worth what they cost to produce.
@Nphen

Lego seems to have a similar situation to Nintendo. Amazing toy & product designers (put together the new Blacksmith shop and you'll see what I mean) and terrible corporate management. Lego fans should pull a Gamestop, buy all the stock, and replace the corporate board. Then new leadership can put their designers in charge and get better sets and fewer moneymaking schemes.

RU-vid recommendations are a strange thing. I've had the 9V system (a hand-me-down) from my older brother and had been looking for new motors, lights and more importantly, the cables and tracks. It was super frustration when Lego changed the power cable connectors and then discontinued the 9V products. Most of all, I cannot wait for the new switches, and new turning radiuses that will become available over time. Thanks for putting in the work and dedication to make this a reality.
@owenmeschter9888
@owenmeschter9888 3 года назад
This is a seriously cool concept. With other 3rd party makers and LEGO themselves making lots of new options for battery power train control, the beauty of the 9v system is brought back to life, and, as you said, can hopefully reach its full potential. You're doing a lot for this community by doing this because now the next generation of lego train builders can experience the fun of the 9V system. I'm really excited to see where it goes, and what you come up with. Good job Micheal!
