I read Tannoy was purchased by a company called Music Group a few years ago, and they closed the Tannoy factory in Scotland to move the manufacturing to China. Fyne Audio was started by ex-employees of the Tannoy factory in Scotland. Really good speakers. I'm looking for a pair of F501s for my two-channel system.
And for keeping things in Scotland, I truly wish Fyne all the best and success. Thank you for posting Lloyd, I am starting to see more Fyne's hitting the used market. I certainly would like to review the 702's in the future.
I think the difference is I pay for my review gear, most of them don't. I decide what stay's with me longer and what product doesn't make the cut is immediately up for sale. I'll be honest, its a double edged sword because no one want's to be affiliated with me, even most of the other reviewers. Lonely wolf I be. Luckily I have a strong day job and can afford to do this.
As someone whose first audiophile system was centered around the AR9LSI's, I too regret letting them go. Mine were wood veneer on the front and much prettier than your old AR9LS speakers making letting them go that much more painful in hindsight. I also spent significant time with Monitor Audio's silver series as I had them in a surround 4.1 phantom middle on Jolida tube amps and a Bel Canto DAC-1 for 2 channel only and I truly enjoyed them as well. Those "in common" touchpoints help me enjoy this channel even more as well as give me more confidence in your opinion of gear. Well done and thank you.
I certainly can see how letting go of the fully veneered version would cause even greater regret. With big amplification, those speakers amaze. I appreciate your compliment, thank you Scott and welcome to the channel!
Thanks! Not only for the review, but also for the critic on the jumpers. I had the same problems as you (losing treble) but it took me much longer to figure out the problem. Just replaced the jumpers with pieces of the same speaker cable as I was using anyway. Not only the problem was gone, but the whole sound was a bit better, too.
Hello Karel, thank you for the compliment. I am glad you figured out the issue before getting too far into it. I find it strange that any modern manufacturer, who goes through such pains to market to us all the great technology packed into their speakers and yet overlooks something so simple and yet detrimental to the overall performance. Glad you like them better with that quick fix, they are a decent speaker. Thanks for watching, cheers!
Thanks for great review. I had those speakers with A European integrated amp and Denafrips dac and i love the combo very much. I echo your sentiments about those speakers. I had 3 different Tekton speakers before and I prefer the Fyne by a big margin.
Thank you DM. Glad you are a satisfied customer with Fyne Audio. I certainly will keep my eye out for some F702's in the future. Thank you for watching.
I bought the F501 and paired it with a lyngdorf tdai 1120 amp which I really like. Just by their own, the F501 were quite boomy because of my room. But the neutral sound of the lyngdorf Combined with its great room correction made the speaker sound 3x as good and I love them. The 60w of the amp is also enough for my listening levels.
I just recently purchased the Fyne F502SP. They were tested against another 15 or so other speakers (KEF, B&W, Vivid, Spendor, AE, Amohion, etc - some cheaper & quite a few much more expensive) and the Fyne F502SP won the contest hands down. These speakers just want to make you listen to music more. They are engaging, have great bass and are very well balanced. Mine are driven with a Devialet Expert Pro 440 amplifier and do a fantastic job. And can I say that the workmanship is absolutely incredible! I personally cannot recommend these speakers highly enough. Sure, they were not cheap but they outperformed other speakers twice their price.
Your mileage may vary, between me, my wife and another enthusiast, the Fyne's were dull sounding and underwhelming compared to the Lores. For what its worth. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the review, these are on my radar. Luckily enough there's a local dealer for Fyne. Hopefully they have one to demo. I like the way you just give impressions as opposed to 'audiophile' type terms. My room is only 15x12 but it's plushily carpeted so might work out and I'm thinking Cayin CS-100
Absolutely, I wish you luck with the hunt. Are you talking the CS-100a, that's a beast. Bet it would be a very nice combination. Thank you for watching.
@@2ChannelListening Yes that's the one! Saw a comparison that said it's bit more lively/dynamic and I feel like I would benefit from that as I mostly listen to 90's rock. Looking forward to other reviews! 👍
How are the Fyne 501's at low- to extremely low volumes? I hear a lot of great things about them but I rarely listen above 70dB and in my experience some speakers need a bigger kick in the backside to get them going.
Oh and thank you for the Fyne review, I am considering the 501sp version. I have a sim audio 340 amp and rely on my turntable to feed it. Haven’t seen tektons up here over the border
So glad I found your channel. What's your opinion on the monitor audio silver 500 7g speakers compared to these? From Australia where speakers are almost 3 times the price,I can pickup a good second hand pair of these but I'm also looking at the m,a 500 7g,new,alot more expensive,is it worth to buy these?,$800 cheaper than the m,a. Thanks for your review of these. Using for Home theatre and 2 channel
I have to say I am a big fan of old Monitor Audio products. I auditioned the RX line against the more expensive B&W CM9 several times and came home with a pair of RX8's. I will say I took the drivers out and lined the entire cabinet with Dynamat and replaced the foam with polyfill. Cheap hack on what were $1,400 speakers, I loved them. I owned those RX8's for 3 years, which for me, is the longest standing pair of speakers. I believe the fit n finish is really good for the money and now the 6G and 7G give you so much more bass response. Remember if you want a nice finish on Fyne, you have to step up several thousand $ to the 501SP. I would personally go back to MA before Fyne if its my dollars voting. Thanks for watching!
You seem to use the Tekton Lore's as your primary system. Care to make a 5 minute video about them? What are your thoughts? Are they the upgraded version or standard caps? Also your videos have good content but are a little long and bounce around a little too much. Keep going though! Also the playback of your video has a lot of room echo. Maybe look into some more sound treatment or a better mic for better sound quality.. Just a thought.
Greetings Kyle, Thank you for the constructive feedback. Yes, I'm still getting my feet under me with playing all the roles involved with reviewer, critic, editor, acquisitions and director...lol. Thanks for pointing out the echo, I wasn't aware of it after adding the heavy curtain behind me for episode #6. I'll work on the topic of focus. As for the Tekton's, they are what I am using for my benchmark speaker at a price point of $600. I buy 98% of my gear used, thus, I get to change the rules of the game to decide if some gear is worthy against other depreciated gear. I have no manufacturer who can reasonably argue with second and third hand market results. My Tektons are in base form, no upgrades. Since I am in an apartment, they make perfect sense to me for what they can do and at what I paid for them. I recently gave up my AR9 LS, which, even at 39 years old, were a superior speaker, but not a fair comparison in size and or real market value. Nor was I hauling 120 lb. speakers up three flights of stairs! Cheers, thanks again, I appreciate it.
Lol, thank you Ten Turns. Its actually Bob Ross. His sunglasses reflect his portraits with "happy little clouds and happy little trees." Thank you for watching.
Welcome to the channel Randall. There are usual a pair or two on US Audio Mart each month for $600 - $1000, I highly suggest you give the Lore a try. They reset the bar for how you will judge speakers up to $1,800.
@@randalllawkin I think the Novus 6T's are terrific speakers for the price, especially when you get them on B-stock or closeout special from Aperion. Excellent build quality and great sound for what you pay.
Very nice review, I was wondering. Am thinking about downgrading to these. Am gonna demo them once they are ready at the dealer. My listening room is quite narrow. Like ( 7.5FT 2.3 meter ). I do have sound absorption pannels but still can't have a bass-heavy speaker in here. Do you have an idea if the work out in a more narrow room with your gear? I currently have a set of Sonus Faber Senneto 3 speakers which work better then any speaker has in this room. But the Fyne audio f501 has bigger drivers. And is also a bit cheaper with assumingly les refinement. My guess, haven't tried them yet. But it would be neat to know from your experience. Thank you for sharing this review, gave it a sub and can't wait to see more.
Greetings Z.Walker, thank you for the positive feedback and sub. I can directly relay to you what happened to me in my space. When I first moved into the apartment, I did go with a narrow set up. Side wall to wall 8 ft., speakers only 6 ft apart and roughly 8 ft to my ears. The amps, the speakers, integrated amps and sources made limited difference, including the larger speakers. As soon as I rearranged the room to push the speakers out 8ft, I had an instant 30% improvement in sound stage depth and width, details and presence. Arguably, it was the biggest impact to my listening experience. You could put a couple of diffusers (even acoustic foam pads) at the back of the base of the Fyne F501's to tune them down if room mode becomes an issue. For what they do, I think they would be great in the dimensions you list. F501's are tunable and responsive to sources, which in my book is a great attribute. Speakers that dominate anything you hook up to them are not anything I would want to own. Feel free to pm me if you would like more details and or greater specifics. Thank you kind sir! Cheers.
@@2ChannelListening this is more then I could ask for. Thank you so much. Definitely keep it on my mind. The shop ordered a pair piano gloss pair for me to demo. So am just gonna wait that. Thank you again this is very neat to know beforehand.

Would you be able to compile a few system recommendations for a 5.1 and 7.1 system for home theatre under different price points up to say $2,500? Starting to do some research on it and kind of have some things picked out but would be great to have a list of good brands to look for when buying used and what to look for when shopping around for a quality system without breaking the bank and getting as much value as possible.
If you wouldn't mind and maybe you could put this in your description in future videos, can you list out the demo songs you used? I'm always on the hunt for new songs. As a suggested speaker to listen to, take a look at the Triangle Audio speakers, they might be right up your alley.
Hello JJ R, Thank you for watching and the request. I added the songs in the description that I use for critical listening. These are the songs that will get played at least three times on the speaker I am reviewing so I have a clear picture of what's going on. Thank you for the recommendation, I will have to take a closer look at the Triangle brand. Cheers!
You need to do a review of the Lore's. A lot of people seem to think they hit a sweet spot for budget Speakers ...... your thoughts .......... tell us.
I am working on acquiring a pair of ZU Omen's. Once I get those, I plan to get pretty in depth with the Lores, being they and ZU's are practically cousins. However, without the details, as a used priced speaker - yes, the Lores will smoke anything I've heard mass produced under $1,800 retail. Thanks for watching.
Hello Randall, I've yet to be proven wrong by an overseas produced budget floor stander. I've sampled so many in this price bracket from KEF, Monitor Audio, Klipsch, B&W, Fyne, Martin Logan, etc. Just wait until I get the Tekton Uruz, fully loaded and still under $1,700 delivered. There's nothing wrong with those other speakers in this bracket, I merely like the Tektons and ZU so much better. Plenty of folks will side with their name brand of choice. Choices are a great thing, variety is wonderful. They need the competition to improve what's available at lower brackets. Thanks for watching.
I've owned Forte II's, I would prefer that much older version of Klipsch compared to a Fyne F501, its snappier and more dynamic sounding. There is only so much air small drivers can move.
Hello, Please advise between FA F502SP and KEF Reference 1 speaker, which would you choose and why? My listening space is 19ft long x 13ft wide x 10-14ft high which opens up into another room that is 13ft x 13ft. Thanks.
hello Richard, in this case, at its price and containing the trickle down drivers from the 702's, without a second thought I would pick the F502SP. You will get more dynamic range, more bass, much easier to drive and the placement is less fussy due to how well FA integrated bass management. I love the KEF, but this was an easy choice for my money. Had you said the base model F502, I would have suggested something else.
@@2ChannelListening Thanks for reaching out. Much Appreciated. From Trinidad in the Caribbean. I looked at the F702 vs the F502SP and see that the specs are the same. What would make the F702 so much more expensive? Even the weights of both models are the same.
It's certainly trivial for its price gap, but the 702 is wider and deeper, it would have some additional deeper bass tone over the 502SP. Or should anyway. Happy hunting.
I've pretty much decided to replace my Adcom GFA5500 power amp with a Schiit Aegir. The Aegir needs high-efficiency speakers and as of now, with all of the positive reviews, the Tekton Lore seems to be the best fit. My biggest concern is ... how will the Lores sound at mid to low volume. Please do a review on the Lores ... love to get your take.
Hi Charles, video of the ZU's vs. Tekton's coming Jan 2nd, just one more day! I will give a full review with internal pictures of both speakers and my ultimate take across these two very similar speakers.
@@2ChannelListening I have a very modest Intergrated amp and have been looking at the Tekton's for a while but I never see them used in the Spokane area and shipping them can get spendy. Did you find yours in Boise?
@@bornces I understand Spokane is a bit of a tough geo for finding quality gear. That far north though, Canada is a decent option. I've picked up a couple of fine used pieces from Canada, just takes longer. Yes, the Tekton's were a local Idaho purchase.
Hey Texan, which Totem are you referring to? I've only owned the Fire model, and I can tell you that little stand mount was several leagues above the F501 - also 3x price...
