As someone in their late 20s I can say that I truly hate this sentiment, that contemporary music is in some way worse. If you take the effort to keep track of new releases you will realise that amazing things are happening. Then again self proclaimed "audiophiles" do not necesarilly use music for enjoyment, but rather as a means of testing their equipment.

@@TsDxX i m59, and i love to listen to modern music on my equipment, yes my equipment is vintage, old Mac intosh tube mono amps, a Mac preamp, and jbl 4312 . I love how tecno, Drum and Bass, Dub reggae, House,Hip Hop, Reggae ton, and modern Rock sound . When your equipment sounds good, you know it ll sound great for every genre of music. Right now, Rosalía s Motomami is playing, soooo good!

@@janath9118 I generally like most speakers but I gravitate to those with strong punchy bass and clear treble - mid range. I love the deep throbbing beat of 1970's era disco that my Hiatchi, Sansui's and Pioneer's were born to play. When in the mood for classical music my Marantz 2330B is my go to. I miss 1970s hi fi stores. The one key item missing are different selections of receivers, each on "presumed" unopened boxes of that same receiver with a cheesie plastic sign hanging from the top box. Ohhhh, how I miss those days. Cal Stereo, Pacific Stereo. If I had a time machine, I would go back to the 1970s and head immediately to the closest Pacific Stereo. I know where I'm going to take my next vacation.

The last great stereo store in my area closed about 13 years ago, it was a Sound Advice store. I could literally spend hours in that store, looking at gear. They used to have 3 demo rooms, set up least expensive to most. The only place for stereo gear around here is Best Buy, and it’s slim Pickings in there. Stereo shops today can only survive in big metropolitan areas like Miami, NY, Chicago, etc.

@@kevinfestner6126 I have one piece of Quad gear, it’s an older Pioneer that I found in my father-in-laws home, after he died. He used to have a 4 channel reel to reel deck, but that was promised to my daughter, as it had sentimental value to her. He was stationed in Japan back in the early 70’s, and bought all his gear in Japan. I had to pass on it because I just do not have the room to store all that gear. He had a beautiful pair of Sansui speakers, but they were huge, and heavy. I spent the last few years buying my dream gear, and I am happy with what I have.

I have sticker shock especially when looking at entry mid-level brand receivers like Marantz. Just cannot believe a Marantz 2230 sells for almost 2 grand! I believe retail was originally $349. Just crazy. Sad the state of the current audio equipment industry. Majority of people now don't appreciate good equipment and stores like this are keeping the dream alive. Loved that tour guys thank you.. a lot of that stuff brings back memories of when I was first getting into hifi. As a very general guide, if you want great hifi buy the British gear, if you want Japanese reliability go for the Luxman. But any of the high end technics/Pioneer etc will look and sound great ( yes am a fan of needles moving as well lol) There is a view held by many that CD players from the turn of the century and up to around 2015 are the ones to go for as then it was the prime medium to go for then, modern turntables are just the same as ones from the 80,s, that heavy one with the SME arm would look and sound great though. I could go on but what a great place to visit and enjoy the looks and sounds of the 80,s

Dude, that's a beautiful remodel job. Can't wait to visit. As a veteran (buck private) in the 70s stereo wars, may I make a suggestion for the future? Set aside a room and carpet the walls. The ceiling should be black with track lights, aimed ominously and dimmly down toward the racks of receivers. The most glorious models at the top, signifying 'this is out of your reach, private'. You may, however, touch the Technics in the middle. 😅

Reminds me of MusiCraft here in Chicagoland back in the day. Pacific Stereo as well. Great Job Sir!

I think it would be nice to have a reprinted brochure next to each piece of equipment.... Perhaps hanging from a dog tag. You can find these old brochures still available online at like the vinyl engine. They list every feature that made each unit unique. It would be like having a salesperson that doesn't take lunch breaks.

Warm and fuzzy tones? Awesome stuff brings back memories of doing inventory in a Lafayette store in the late 1970s.
