Demo of a vintage Fyrnetics Lifesaver hardwired smoke detector.
This smoke detector was made by Fyrnetics Inc under their model name "Lifesaver". It is the successor to the 1255 model which succeeded the original model 1200. This is the hardwired version of the 0905. Features an intermittent flashing LED indicator, unusual for an AC unit. Made in the mid-late 80's.

There was one of these smoke detectors when I moved in my house but it probably doesn’t work anymore. More than likely is original to the house I live in since it was built in 1985.

Baltimore Alarms & Fans Interesting thing is I remember seeing these detectors everywhere when I was growing up in the early 2000’s and I definitely would consider this to be from my childhood even though it’s from the 1980’s.

@seana806 u most likely have the earlier direct wire model, as this specific model was produced between 1989, to 1993/4 so probably wasn't original but still cool.

My grandmother has this on with a chirping sound, but I can’t find a way to remove the battery. Is there any option or advice?

I have one that look like that and it keep Chirping like it have a battery but when I took it off the was it’s electric

I still have one of these in my house built in 1990. How to remove the wiring from the back of it? Last owners of the house decided to just put a newer battery powered detector right next to it.

the wiring harness should be attached to the house power with wire nuts. Turn off the power, unscrew those and remove the harness.

They are good detectors, we had one installed in my stepfathers house it would go off every time smoke entered the room, I got him to replace it and it now sits in my room, I also have the alarm that replaced it but that's a whole other story.
