Un’altra perla di questo “ Maestro “ italiano del settecento; profondo conoscitore delle potenzialità ancora sconosciute di molti strumenti che nei suoi concerti ( concertanti ante litteram) e sinfonie sono sempre armoniosi da soli e nell’assieme. È stato stimatissimo in tutta l’Europa musicale ( anche Mozart prese lezione da lui). La freschezza della vena inventiva dell’ epoca viene poco sottolineata. Molte composizioni sono state riproposte dalla Accademia degli Astrusi e publicate da Miguel Vaquez. Quindi godiamoci noi melomanie queste composizioni al posto dei soliti nomi! Senza togliere meriti a tanti maestri!!!

Een mooi voorbeeld van een vroege sinfonia concertante. Zo als gewoonlijk, erg plezierige muziek van GB Sammartini.

only a determined investigation into existing archives,libraries,public and private collections,and other sources of these long forgotten composers will shed light on the true treasures of these compositions,said to be 'in manuscript'. Would not infusing a streaming blend of this music into workplaces,office and otherwise,alleviate stress and other cares? TeleBachHand

I'm almost positive it's the Piazza dei Signori in Padua (with the Orologio Astronomico in the background).

@@DasRoemertum No, it's definitely Piazza San Marco in Venice (and I'm quite sure it's a detail from a Canaletto painting). In the background is the Torre dell'Orologio and on the left you can see the base of the Campanile and part of the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana.

@@jamesw.4015 You are right: thank you for pointing out that it's from a Canaletto painting, too. I am not very familiar with the sights of Venice.
